Gold Wing Road Riders Texas District Competition Guidelines There will be seven basic categories in the Chapter Competitions: 1. Best Dressed Parade (Chapter & Couple) 2. Chapter Shirts (Dress, Knit, Tee & Casual) 3. Chapter Jackets 4. Mascot (Chapter & Individual) 5. Chapter Newsletter 6. Chapter Scrapbook (Digital & Cut n Paste) 7. Chapter Banner (Cloth & Vinyl) 8. Website Competition Guidelines 9. Bike Show Classifications General Rules/Definitions for all categories of competitions: Each entry must be an Individual Member, Family Member, Individual Associate Member, or Family Associate Member of the GWRRA and registered for the Convention. The "Best Dressed (Couple/Chapter) Parade" category does not include any music or routines. The contestants outfits will be suitable for representing their Chapter in a parade or other event. This category has two sub-categories (classes): Couple (A couple is defined as one male and one female) Page 1
Chapter (A Chapter consists of at least four participants and must wear their Chapter s designation.) Each participant must be wearing a version of the -inch GWRRA back patch and a GWRRA membership pin. The participants will be expected to perform 1/4 turns to allow judges and spectators to see their outfits. To compete in Best Dressed Parade Category, Participants must wear their Chapter s designation if participating as a Chapter. Scoring will be 60% uniformity and appearance; 30% for practicality; % for poise. Parade dress would be outfits suitable for riding motorcycles if a helmet, jacket and gloves were added. Parade Dress Scoring: 1. Uniformity & Overall Appearance How well do the outfits match, or follow a theme for the Couple/Chapter 60 possible points Shirts & Pants Vests (Style and color) Boots Belt buckles, hats, etc General appearance pts. Placement of patches & pins 2. Practicality (Proper Riding Apparel) 30 possible points Long Sleeve shirts Long pants Boots 3. Poise How well did the couple/chapter do. possible points. Dress Shirts: Must have a collar and suitable for representing the Chapter in a Parade or other event. Long or short sleeved. Knit Shirts: Page 2
Knit shirts are shirts of a knit fabric with collars such as Polo shirts. Long or short sleeved. Tee Shirts: The Chapter Tee Shirt is a tee shirt, long or short sleeve without a collar. Casual Shirts: The Casual Chapter Shirt is any other shirt such as denim or cotton with a collar. Long or short sleeved All shirts will be scored on the following criteria: GWRRA designation 20 points Region designation 20 points District designation 20 points Chapter designation 20 points Overall appearance points Bonus for tie breaker points Chapter Jackets: will be displayed on tables in the Chapter Pride Room. The Chapter Jackets must represent the Chapter with all the appropriate designations for Chapter, District, Region and GWRRA. Bonus points awarded upon how well it reflects the Chapter. Scoring criteria: GWRRA designation 20 points Region designation 20 points District designation 20 points Chapter designation 20 points Overall appearance points Bonus for tie breaker points Mascot will be displayed in Chapter Pride Room for judging. Individual / Chapter: Any member registered for the Convention may enter. Mascots cannot be alive. All entrants must possess a sense of humor. Mascot must belong to a registered delegate at the Texas District Convention. Mascots must be of a size and construction that can be safely attached to or ride on the motorcycle and fit within a 20 x 20 area on the table. Entry forms must be completed and submitted with the mascot on the day of judging. The general good humor of the judges, originality of the entry form, and mascot will determine winners. At least one current Chapter representative must be present at the Texas District Convention and be a registered delegate. Newsletters mailed to Chapter participants between the previous twelve months are eligible for competition. Entries must consist of no less than two (2) and no more than four (4) unique news-letters. Newsletter judging criteria are based on content as outlined in the Membership Enhancement Program Chapter Newsletter Award Guidelines Scoring criteria: Must have: Chapter Name or initials GWRRA logo Region, District, and Chapter Letter designation Inclusion of information from National, Region, and District newsletters Rider Education safety information Stories submitted by members other than officers. Scrapbook Competition Any GWRRA Chapter may enter. At least one current Chapter representative must be present at the Texas District Convention and be a registered delegate. Subjective judging of the scrapbooks is based on content, relevance of material to goals of GWRRA, artistic content, creativity and organization. Objective judging of the scrapbooks is based on the use of GWRRA logos, Region, District, and Chapter identification. Scrapbooks will have 2 sub-categories: o Cut n Paste o Digitally enhanced Scoring will be the same in both categories as follows: Ease of Identification by the use of: o GWRRA initials or full name of association o Chapter name or initials o District name or initials o Region name or initials Artistic content: o Cover design o Creativity o Use of color Organization (Separation by year, event, etc.) 20 pts. Banner Competition: Any GWRRA Chapter may enter. At least one current Chapter representative must be present at the Texas District Convention and be a registered delegate. Banners will be judged on the use of the GWRRA initials, or the full name of the association and logo. Banners will be judged on the use of the Chapter name or initials, District name or initials, and Region initial. Chapter nickname or logo is optional. Points will be awarded for artistic content and ease of identification. There will be 2 sub-categories for banners: 1) Cloth 2) Vinyl Scoring will be the same in both categories as follows: Ease of Identification by the use of: o GWRRA initials or full name of association o GWRRA Logo o Chapter name or initials o District name or initials o Region name or initials Artistic content: o Cover design o Creativity o Use of color Overall impression 20 pts. Talent Show Competitions Contestants must be an Individual, Family, Individual Associate or Family Associate Member of GWRRA. All contestants must be registered participants of the Rally Acts will be musical, comedy or serious and judged on showmanship Contestants must provide music for musical acts to DJ before competition begins Scoring will be as follows: Within a minute time limit 15 pts.
