Glass spot circus: Fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA Every year we adopt a local organization to support. In honour of Mia and our members' animal friends we are raising funds for the Ontario SPCA. In March our members made some unique fused glass charms that can be added to your pet's collar, your child's backpack zipper pull, or otherwise worn in a host of different ways. The charms will be on sale at the Glass spot circus for $10 each. If you would like to make your own charm, our member volunteers will assist you. This activity costs $15 per charm (or two for $20). Our members' show theme is Circus. Their one of a kind pieces embody the spirit and energy of the circus as well as celebrates the talented hard working performers, whether human or animal. Some of these pieces have been donated to our first ever silent auction, with all proceeds going to the Ontario SPCA. If you are interested in animal welfare, please come out and support this initiative. Thank you! Mia, Studio greeter Mia, Melanie Kidd s little cavapoo, is the inspiration for the Glass spot circus. Come and meet Mia, the best studio greeter in the glass world. Our core customers and members drop in regularly with treats, cuddles, and conversation receiving licks, tricks, and enthusiastic tail wagging in return. 3

Members desk Glass spot circus Open house and fundraiser for the Ontario SPCA Saturday, June 20, 2015 10 am 4 pm This event s theme is Circus. We are challenging members to create an original glass piece in this theme. Registration information is available in Studio and on the Members Community page. As there has been a lot of interest in selling these items for the Ontario SPCA, we have chosen to do a silent auction for any piece that you choose to donate. You are welcome to bring business cards and show brochures to display with your piece(s). We need your help If you are able to volunteer some time on the day to help set up/take down the booth, sell/pack the charms, assist in the making of charms, please email members@glasstronomystudios.ca and indicate a preferred time (between 9:30 am 4:30 pm). Thank you to everyone who has given his or her support to this initiative. Spring-cleaning Studio spring-cleaning night Tuesday, June 23, 2015 7 10 pm We will be having a spring-cleaning party during open studio. The workshop table storage has accumulated a lot of project boxes and materials! Please take a peek at what s under the tables and remove what you can (that belongs to you!) so that we can make some room for some panels Melanie will be working on this summer. You are welcome to keep a project box and one ongoing project in situ, but it would be helpful if you could take the rainy day treasure trove home until you are ready to use it. Recycling If you are doing your own seasonal clean up and are trying to reduce your garbage, the Studio can make use of bubble wrap, large sheet newspaper, used toothbrushes, clean empty yoghurt cartons, and old clean flannel sheets, towels, cotton t-shirts, and orphan socks. Thanks so much! End of summer get together Pot luck BBQ Sunday, August 30, 2015 11 am 3 pm Join us for our annual BBQ. Along with catching up with fellow members over some great food, you will also get a preview of our upcoming fall workshop schedule and latest membership initiatives. Planning to come to the BBQ? RSVP to members@glasstronomystudios.ca by Thursday, August 20, 2015. Please let us know what food item you plan to bring and also advise us if it contains any alcohol or nuts so that we can provide appropriate signage. Menu items will be listed on our members Community page. 5
