2 GOVERNOR'S CORNER It's been a great fiscal year so far. We have made some much needed improvements and repairs to the Lodge and grounds. Got the roof, elevator and some electrical repairs done. Got the back room floor stripped and waxed. Great job by the way guys, looks awesome. But there are a lot of things that still need fixing and updating. We'll keep you in the loop as to what needs to be fixed next. Just a heads up on our storage unit build on our north side vacant land. We are just finishing up the business plan so that Endpoint Solutions can get the proposal to the city planners and get approval from Moose International. We can start looking at getting financing for the build next. It's a slow process, but we want to get it right the first time. Our numbers on membership are looking good but could be better. We are about 30 new or former members down from being plus one. If we can get to plus one we can get some great incentives from Moose International and risk pool reductions. So we can save some money. To do this we need your help in getting there. Sign up new or former members back into the Moose. We have some great incentives for you as well, you can get next years dues paid by us for just signing up three (3) new or former members. Thanks for your help. We are now accepting requests for new officers on the men's board. We have two (2) more Nomination meetings in March. The 12th and the 26th at 5:30 pm both nights. There are nomination forms in the front foyer by the door for you to fill out. If you need information on what is involved in running for office just contact me and I'll be happy to talk to you about it. We are having a March Madness tournament bracket at the lodge. Come on down on March 22nd to get a spot for yourself and lets watch the games here at the lodge. We have three big screen TV's, six all together so we won't miss a game. SPORTS Monday night in-house pool continues. Hi-lights next month. In Monday and Wednesday AM pool action, Dan Rose and Lloyd Jester had table runs and Aaron Perona pocketed an 8- ball break. Play continues with lunch served on Monday and Wednesday from 11:30 am till 1 pm. Our Wednesday night traveling league team is on the rise. Ron Fredrickson and Ken Hagen Jr. scored table runs. The Monday night pool league plays all year with different sessions, Monday and Wednesday AM shoots until the end of April, then it's on to Monday and Wednesday AM golf starts. Play starts at 9:00 am. The leagues play out at Pets, spots are available. More information next month. Catch the NASCAR races every week and don't forget March Madness. It's NCAA basketball tourney time. We will be looking at getting a bracket set up for the tournament. The games will be shown on our big screen TV's in our Social Quarters. Plenty of screens to catch the game you want to see. There will be a party in the Social Quarters for the finals, Gov Joe Matteucci will host. The Brewers, Cubs and White Sox all open their seasons at the end of March. The talented Brew Crew will be defending their division title, no doubt the Cubs will be right there too. As for the Sox, not so much, but they are showing some potential. Catch the spring training action leading up to the regular season on our TV's in the Social Quarters. We are entered in the Brewers tavern of the game, keep an eye out during the broadcasts for our selection. Looking out the window, the snow is piled high as an elephants' eye, but it will be gone and outside activities will start. So far, softball, BAGGO and horseshoes are planned. We have lots of time and room for more events. See AD Rich Smart or any board members with your ideas. An evening golf league is one activity that needs a chairperson. Mooseheart, our school in Batavia, Ill. and our main benefactor of our Member's generosity, will be dropping their football program. Reasons given mainly being a very small school and injury concerns. More emphasis will be placed on Soccer. Micheal Lowe, our lodge sponsored child, playing basketball, scored his 1,000th point for Mooseheart. Notes: It's been a cold and snowy Wisconsin winter... AD Rich Smart, Mark Schneider, Brian Mifflin and others put in lots of volunteer time to clear our parking lots and sidewalks. Take heart, it's almost over. Thanks Leon Rosko; sports chairman. 3 MOOSE LEGION FELLOWSHIP NEWS For All The Current Moose Legion 31 News Visit our web site at: http://moosepages.org/home/legion31/ MARK YOU CALENDAR LEGION PICNIC JUNE 20, 2019 HIGHER DEGREE SHIRTS AND VESTS AVAILABLE IN THE LODGE OFFICE FOR PURCHASE Paul Baumeister Legion Committee Chairman Terry Nelson Moose Legion 31, Asst Secretary KENOSHA MOOSE RIDERS Rider Membership Drive!
