Intersteps Championship 2011 Driver Package www.motaworld.co.uk
The Intertsteps Championship. For 2011 Motaworld Racing will be running a 3 car team in the UK Intersteps Championship. The Championship is fully supported by the MSA and the Racing Steps Foundation and is intended to provide professional racing on a cost effective and affordable budget. With the inception of the Intersteps Championship, the first step of the career path for young drivers has now been clearly established. Therefore the Intersteps Championship offers the perfect bridge between karting and the main national single-seater series, providing drivers with opportunities to race at top UK circuits and develop their skills, techniques and race craft. The Intersteps Championship is a one make Championship employing the current Mygale FB02 car which has been used worldwide by BMW in their Formula BMW Championships. Rules are strictly enforced to ensure that all cars deliver the same performance thereby making the Intersteps Championship a level playing field for all drivers. The Intersteps Championship provides a quality platform to launch young drivers careers as rounds will be run at national, high profile race meetings including the Dunlop Great and British events and a World Touring Car event.
The Intersteps Championship is the ONLY single seater championship approved by the MSA that allows 15 year olds to take part thus allowing youngsters to benefit from training very early in their careers.the Intersteps Championship will be a first class training ground for young racing drivers. Education is key to any driver development and through the involvement of the MSA and Racing Steps Foundation the Intersteps Championship is able to offer it s competitors lecturing and mentoring opportunities in what it will take to become a champion. The Intersteps Championship recognises the importance of the academic year and avoids race tests and meetings during the May/June exam period. Also, the race meetings are planned to minimise disruption to drivers day-to-day education (on which the organisers place enormous importance). Accordingly test sessions will be scheduled for the final hour of Friday running. Early-Sunday afternoon finishes will be given top priority too when race weekend programmes are formulated.. The Championship will be run over 7 events and consists of 20 races.
The Intersteps Championship will benefit from TV coverage including standalone 30 minute programmes on Motors TV. To contain costs, a general test ban will come into place at the end of February after which drivers will only be allowed to take part in the Friday test before each race event and 6 Official Tests as put on by the organisers. In addition each Team will be allowed to run a further 6 test days during the season. Prior to the 7 th of March 2011, there is no limit on testing. The organisers are planning an initial induction day where drivers will experience a race day format, go through scrutineering, visit race control and practice race starts. Through the MSA Academy Master Classes, competitors will be tutored in areas relevant to their future success in motor sport. Subjects will include motivation, nutrition, fitness, media and mechanical skills.

Testing get the edge over your competitors!! In order to prepare for a season s racing in the Intersteps Championship and be competitive at the first event we always recommend a pre season testing and training programme. A programme of around 10 days is normal for most drivers but any number can be arranged to suit the driver s requirements. Motaworld operate 2 types of test and training days. These days are in addition to any Official test days that the Intersteps Championship organisers may operate. The first type is run at Pembrey circuit in S Wales where we have a workshop base. The days are run on a semi exclusive basis which means that there are normally only 4-6 cars running and traffic is never a problem thus allowing the driver to concentrate on learning. There is an open pit lane from 09.30 to 12.30 and 13.30 to 16.00 which means that the driver can get plenty of track time together with instructional time and it also allows efficient management of driver fatigue. These days represent very good value for money and are recommended for drivers to learn the cars and hone their driving skills. There are no licensing requirements for these days and drivers under 16 years of age are allowed.
The second type of test day is a general day and is run at circuits such as Snetterton, Brands, Rockingham etc. These days tend to be quite busy with traffic and a mixture of types of car and are probably really more suited to the experienced driver. Depending on the circuit there is normallysomething like 4 x 40 minute sessions track time available. For the driver to take part at these days an MSA Race Licence is required. Once the driver is competent with the race car we always recommend using at least one set of new tyres on each test day. This gives the driver the true feel of the car as it would be going into a qualifying session. Sets of tyres are available at 595 + VAT per set. The cost of a test day starts at 950 + VAT exclusive of circuit test fee. The cost varies according to track and type of test. Test days must be booked at least 7 days before the date of the test and also payment in cleared funds must be received 7 days before the date of the test.
