SCOUTING COLGATE The Raiders come into Friday s contest with a 4-9 overall record and are looking to end their five-game slide. After taking on a challenging non-league slate that included games against Yale, Arizona State, and No. 24 Syracuse, Colgate has struggled as the schedule has moved into Patriot League play with its last win coming on Dec. 2, when it dispatched UMass Lowell on its home court by a final score of 84-64. The Raiders are still searching for their first league win of the season as well after dropping its first two Patriot League matchups against Holy Cross and American. Summer King and Rachel Thompson have formed a 1-2 punch for Colgate s offense this season, averaging 9.9 and 8.7 ppg, respectively. Nia Ahart has been the Raiders threat from behind the arc, knocking down 37.5 percent of her shots from deep. King has been looked to as a rim protector this season, averaging 1.2 blocks per game, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League. Keeping teams from getting second chances offensively has been an issue for the Raiders this season as they are allowing 40.4 rebounds to opponents. Colgate s offense has been able to keep it in games, shooting 40.7 percent from the field. That clip ranks third in the Patriot League and represents a challenge for Lafayette s stalwart defense. ALL-TIME SERIES Lafayette and Colgate first met in the 1976-77 season. The Maroon and White won the first ever meeting by a final score of 55-48. The Leopards own a slim lead all-time against the Raiders, 36-33. LAST MEETING It was a good old fashioned shoot-out the last time Colgate visited College Hill, as Lafayette was able to hold on for a 90-85 victory. Olivia Gumbs and Ashley Lutz 17 each posted a doubl-double in the senior day victory. The Leopards used a strong day from the floor to keep the pressure on the Raiders for the entire contest, finishing with a 53 percent mark from the floor. Colgate was able to make it a game behind a salvo from deep, but the Leopards were able to stave off the onslaught and knocked down their free throws to close out the win. LAST TIME OUT The Leopards overcame a tough shooting second quarter to hold on for a four point victory on the road at Holy Cross on Tuesday evening, claiming a 69-65 win at the Hart Center. The Leopards (5-7, 1-1 PL) had four players finish in double figures while the Crusaders (6-7, 1-1 PL) leaned on Lauren Manis who finished with a game-high 26 points. Olivia Martino led the Maroon and White with 17 points while Natalie Kucowski finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds to record her third straight double-double. The Maroon and White were hitting everything to open the contest, shooting 75 percent in the first quarter while locking down Holy Cross attack to the tune of 31 percent shooting. The Crusaders went up 4-2 early but the Maroon and White responded with a 7-0 run to head into the media timeout up 9-4 after Alexis Santarelli finished smoothly in the post. Holy Cross struck first coming out of the break, but Santarelli answered immediately for the Leopards. The teams traded blows over the remaining 3:23 before Anna Ptasinski knocked down a three in transition as time expired to put the Leopards up seven heading into the second Game 13 2 Lafayette vs. Colgate

quarter. The Leopards had a tough time getting their shots to fall in the second quarter, going 4-for-15 from the field. Holy Cross answered Ptasinski s buzzer beater with a 7-2 run to open the second quarter before Kucowski went coast-to-coast to put an end to the Crusaders opening salvo. Coming out of the media timeout, Martino put the Leopards up 28-24 with 3:43 left in the quarter after collecting a miss and dropping in a baby hook. Holy Cross forced the Leopards into a timeout after back-to-back-baskets put the Crusaders up 30-28. Ellen Graham scored the final bucket of the half with 1:10 to play to send the Maroon and White into the break down by three, 33-30. The Maroon and White reclaimed the lead in the early goings of the third quarter, answering two straight Crusader buckets with an 8-0 run up to the media timeout. Martino initiated the run with a corner three before Ptasinski put the Maroon and White up 42-39 with 4:41 left in the quarter. A huge block from Kucowski forced the Crusaders into a timeout with 2:16 to play. The teams traded blows to end the quarter, with Lafayette holding a 52-50 advantage to open the final stanza. It came down to the wire in the fourth quarter, with both teams trading buckets throughout the final stanza. Holy Cross took a 58-54 lead behind a jumper from Infiniti Thomas-Waheed with 5:27 to go. The teams battled back-and-forth before Martino tied the game at 62-62 with a baseline drive at the two minute mark. It came down to free throws at the end, and the Maroon and White knocked theirs down to close the contest, with Martino knocking down six from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter to help the Leopards see out a 69-65 win. Santarelli and Freeland were the other Leopards to finish in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Lafayette won the battle on the glass, 46-41. The Maroon and White s defense was a factor once again, forcing the Crusaders into a 31 percent shooting night from the floor. PTASINSKI S TRIPLES Senior Anna Ptasinski has been a sharpshooter for the Leopards since stepping on campus in 2014. The senior is the active career leader in three-pointers with 131, a total that has the Highlands Ranch, Colo. native tied for fourth all-time. THREE MUSKETEERS The Leopards return a leadership core comprised of the team s three seniors, Anna Ptasinski, Sammy Stipa and Ellen Graham. The trio will be looking to develop into key cogs for coach Damon s plans this season. They all will step into a leadership role this year as the Maroon and White embark on their first campaign under the new boss. Quick Facts General Information Location...Easton, Pa. NOTHING EASY The Leopards zone has forced opponents into bad shots, holding them to a 34.1 percent mark from the floor. The Maroon and White s field goal defense ranks 15th nationally and first in the Patriot League. LET THE RECORDS SHOW Ptasinski and Stipa are two of the most efficient deep ball threats in program history as both rank in the top four in career 3-point percentage. Ptasinski is second all-time with mark of.346 while Stipa is fourth with her career clip of.315. Stipa is two years removed from setting the single season record for 3-point percentage when she knocked down 43.5% of her shots from beyond the arc. TURNOVER BATTLE The Maroon and White have earned three of their five wins when committing fewer turnovers than their opponent this season. Lafayette is averaging 7.2 steals per game, forcing opponents into mistakes and fueling the offense. CAN WE HAVE ANOTHER? Natalie Kucowski has established herself as a force down low for the Leopards this season. The freshman recorded her sixth career double-double against Holy Cross, finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Kucowski s performance marked the third straight game that she has finished with a double-double, becoming the first Lafayette player to complete that feat since Emily Homan 15 (1/21/15-1/28/15). TOTAL ECLIPSE Through 12 games, the Maroon and White have eclipsed their win-total from last season, earning their fifth victory of the year against Holy Cross. The Leopards earned four wins in the 2016-17 season, including two wins over the Crusaders. FOUR S A CROWD Tuesday s win over Holy Cross marked the first time the Leopards had four players finish in double figures since a matchup with the Crusaders last season (2/8/17). Martino (17), Kucowski (14), Santarelli (11) and Freeland (10) led the charge for Lafayette as it secured its first league victory. PUT A LID ON IT The Maroon and White s defense has kept opponents offenses in check this season, allowing 58.7 ppg. That mark ranks the Leopards 61st in the nation and second in the Patriot League. CLEANING UP Kucowski has established herself as one of the best rebounders in the Patriot League as a freshman and is making noise on the national stage as well. The Philadelphia, Pa. native is averaging a league-leading 12..3 rpg which ranks her 10th nationally. The 6-3 forward is creating second chances on offense as well, averaging 5.0 offensive rpg, which ranks her 12th in the country. GET AFTER IT EARLY The Leopards have had success this season when they ve been able to jump on opponents early in games. During the Maroon and White s season-long three-game win streak, they averaged 63.6 ppg. Breaking the sixty point barrier bodes well for the Leopards as their defense continues to frustrate opponents on the other end. INJURY REPORT Lafayette has no major injuries at this time. FRESH FACES The Leopards have three new freshmen and one transfer to incorporate into the squad this season, and each brings something different to the table for the Maroon and White. Natalie Kucowski brings an inside-outside offensive game to the Leopards frontcourt. The Philadelphia, Pa. native helped guide Saint Basil s to three straight District One Championships in high school. Olivia Martino plied her trade with two national powerhouses prior to coming to College Hill. Martino won a National Championship with Riverdale Baptist in 2014 and was a twoyear captain at National Christian Academy. She has the ability to stretch the defense but can also put the ball on the floor to create her own shot. Drew Freeland was a two-sport athlete at Hidden Valley in Roanoke, Va., lettering in basketball and volleyball. She led Hidden Valley to two semi finals appearances in the state playoffs and left the high school as its all time leader in points, rebounds and assists. Freeland plays with an aggressiveness and an attacking mentality that will be welcomed to the backcourt rotation. Sydney Sabino transferred in to Lafayette after spending last season with Wagner. The guard has a sweet stroke from deep that fits with the Leoapards gameplan. Sabino won a national junior championship with her AAU team, the NJ Shoreshots in 2011. MEET THE NEW BENCH CREW Head Coach Kia Damon takes over the Leopards after previously serving as an assistant coach at Cincinnati and Penn State. The former Millersville standout is leading the Leopards in a new direction and is bringing a new style of play to the court in her first season. Damon s first hire was assistant coach Tom Lochner. He spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware, where he helped the program average 21 wins per season en route to a 130-63 record. Lochner adds more than 30 years of experience to the Leopards bench. 2017-18 Game Notes 5 Lafayette Women s Basketball

Natalie Jarrett joins the staff after previously serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. Jarrett brings an ability to connect with people and will develop the Leopards post players. Jennifer Montoya spent the last six seasons working with the Penn State women s basketball staff. In 2016-17, she was the director of scouting and video operations for the Big 10 program. Montoya will work on the development of Lafayette s point guards. PRESEASON POLL RESULTS Army West Point and defending Patriot League champion Bucknell were selected as the 2017-18 Patriot League Women s Basketball preseason co-favorites, earning an identical 140 points and seven first-place votes. In addition, Black Knights junior forward Madison Hovren was named the Patriot League Women s Basketball Preseason Player of the Year, when honors were announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Black Knights return a strong core around Hovren to tie defending champion Bucknell atop the preseason poll. American finished closely behind in third-place with 134 points and five first-place votes. Last season s League runner-up Navy tallied 119 points and the final first-place vote, while Boston University checks in at fifth, with 91 points. Holy Cross (81), Lehigh (64), Colgate (55), Loyola Maryland (54) and Lafayette (22) round out the preseason poll. Hovren (18.7 ppg, 10.2 rpg) a 2016-17 First Team All- Patriot League selection - was recognized as the League s preseason player of the year, while headlining a preseason all-league team that features a pair of first-team members and two second-team picks from a year ago. Boston University senior center Sophie Beaudry (12.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 apg) who was named to the all-league first-team and all-defensive team during her junior season is joined on the preseason team by fellow 2016-17 first-team honoree Loyola Maryland senior guard Bri Betz-White (15.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.5 apg). BROADCAST INFORMATION This season, 10 Lafayette regular-season women s basketball contests including all nine Patriot League home games will be broadcast live to more than 100 million viewers via the Lafayette Sports Network. LSN consists of RCN-4 (Lehigh Valley), RCN-8 (Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago) and WBPH-60 (eastern Pennsylvania, western New Jersey). All 14 of the Leopards home games, whether televised or not, will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network. The Patriot League Network will also stream all of the Leopards road contests during Patriot League play. As an element of Lafayette s multimedia agreement with CBS Interactive, all LSN telecasts are streamed live on the internet and available worldwide through GoLeopards.com. Lafayette was the first of the CBS College Sports partners to make live video streaming available to fans worldwide when the 2000 Lafayette- Lehigh football game aired live on GoLeopards.com. Emmy-nominated local sports broadcaster Gary Laubach will handle all of the Leopards play-by-play duties for the 21st straight season. Former Lafayette men s basketball coach John Leone will provide color analysis for the 21st season. With the move of 13-year veteran sideline reporter Dan Mowdy to public address following the retirement of the legendary Jim Finnen, Mike Joseph returns to sideline duties this season for his third year as the third member of the LSN crew. Joseph has worked alongside Laubach as the color analyst for Lafayette football for the past eight seasons. With the exception of the Patriot League Championship, which will be nationally-televised live on the CBS Sports Network, Lafayette s games during the Patriot League Tournament will also be broadcast on the Patriot League Network and possibly the Lafayette Sports Network. LEOPARDS ONLINE The Patriot League has partnered with Stadium to form one of the nation s most robust intercollegiate athletic digital networks. Fans can enjoy a wide variety of live athletic events, games and League championships for more than 20 sports played at the venues of Patriot League schools for free, as well as numerous interviews, highlight shows and feature stories. Patriot League Network (PLN) will provide fans more than 800 live events during the 2017-18 campaign. A daily Patriot League Network schedule is available at patriotleague.tv. While not all on television, all of Lafayette s games will at least have live video coverage across various platforms online. The Patriot League Network will exclusively carry the Lafayette Sports Network s productions of the Leopards home games against La Salle (Nov. 8), Rider (Nov. 21), LIU Brooklyn (Nov. 25) and Wagner (Dec. 20). All of the Leopards Patriot League contests can be seen on the Patriot League Network. The games at Cornell and Penn will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network, while the contest at Penn will also be available on ESPN3. Lafayette s contest at St. Peter s will be available on Youtube, the matchup at Drexel will air on DrexelDragons.com, while the game at Robert Morris can be seen on NEC Front Row. 2017-18 HOME BROADCAST SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time Live Outlets Nov. 10 La Salle 7 p.m. LSN on PLN Nov. 21 Rider 6 p.m. LSN on PLN Nov. 25 LIU Brooklyn 2 p.m. LSN on PLN Dec. 6 Princeton 6 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Dec. 20 Wagner 12 p.m. LSN on PLN Jan. 5 Colgate 7 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Jan. 11 Army 7 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Jan. 14 Loyola 2 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Jan. 20 American 2 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Jan. 27 Holy Cross 2 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Feb. 3 Bucknell 2 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Feb. 14 Navy 7 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Feb. 21 Boston U. 7 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN Feb. 24 Lehigh 2 p.m. LSN on RCN, WBPH, PLN - Lafayette Sports Network games are available on RCN-4, RCN-8, WBPH-60, DirecTV (dial 60) and DISH\ Network (dial 60) in addition to GoLeopards.com. - All road Patriot League games will be available live on the Patriot League Network - All games on Lafayette Sports Network will be streamed live online via the Patriot League Network Patriot League Network/Stadium Exclusives: 11/12 LA SALLE (LSN on PLN) 7 p.m. 11/21 RIDER (LSN on PLN) 7 p.m. 11/25 LIU BROOKLYN (LSN on PLN) 2 p.m. 12/20 WAGNER (LSN on PLN) 12 p.m. Road Non-conference Online Exclusives: 11/12 at St. Peter s (Youtube) 1 p.m. 11/18 at Penn (Ivy Neague Network/ESPN3) 5 p.m. 11/28 at Cornell (Ivy league Network) 7 p.m. 12/1 at Drexel (DrexelDragons.com) 7 p.m. 2017-18 Game Notes 7 Lafayette Women s Basketball
