OAK LEAF LODGE NO. 685 INSTITUTED 9/29/1968 NEWSLETTER Our Next Business Meeting is on Sept. 2nd @ 7:30 PM A Message from Chairman, I hope everyone had a safe and fun summer. Welcome back! Our first meeting will be Friday, Sept. 2nd which is the start of Labor Day Weekend. I know many of you will probably be away but we may have some new members attending and may even vote and initiate that night. Our Sept. social will still be on Sept. 16th even though Marknad is that Sunday, Sept. 18th at Vasa Park. Attached, you will find the fliers for Marknad that include an invitation to enter the "Meatball Contest," and the "Art Show." If you wish to enter these the deadline is September 1, 2016. Instructions are on the fliers but you may contact me if you have any questions. We did have a quickly organized "going away" luncheon for Lorraine Parriot on Wed. August 17th at Mimi's Cafe in Thousand Oaks. As you may have heard, Lorraine is moving to Utah to be near her Granddaughters. She will still be here until her house sells so if you missed the luncheon you can still see her at the meetings for awhile. I wanted to have a meeting over the summer to get a committee for our Lucia Program started but time went by so fast I could not make 2016 OFFICERS Chairman: Vice Chairman: Ken Kenyon Jr. Past Chairman: Maryann Kenyon Recording Secretary: Sue Premo GLD/PDM Assistant Recording Secretary: Gina Johansson Treasurer/Financial Secretary: Karin Eckdahl Assistant Financial Secretary: Maj-Britt Finnstrom Chaplain: Tal Ross Cultural Leader: Madeleine Person Master of Ceremonies: Fred Rex Assistant M of C: Jay Halverson Inner Guard: Anna-Marie Compton Outer Guard: Ken Kenyon Trustees: Lorraine Parriott (3 Years) Torsten Olsson (2) Maryann Kenyon (3) Auditors: Ken Kenyon (3) Janet Dackow (2) Lorraine Olsson (1) OAK LEAF LODGE - Business Meeting - 1st Fri. of the month, 7:30 PM. except July & August. EORUM CLARITATEM VESTIG ATIONES MARCH 19, 2012 arrangements for this to happen. I did receive approval over the summer to rent Dickerson Hall at the United Methodist Church in Thousand Oaks for our program on Saturday, December 10th. Since we would like to turn it into a fundraiser this year we have a lot to discuss and vote on and get organized into smaller groups to handle different parts of this event. We will be selling the meatball meals and whatever handmade Scandinavian Christmas ornaments and gifts we can get done before December. September Birthdays Tal Ross on the 1st. Jason Blohm on the 19th. Shari Madison on the 23rd. Johan Eckdahl on the 25th. Bergt Johansson on the 27th. Brian Compton on the 30th. Ja, må dom leva, Ja, må dom leva, Ja, må dom leva uti hundrade år. When we meet in September we will discuss all the "sub-committees" we will need. I think we decided to celebrate our 48th Anniversary at the Marknad at Vasa Park on September 18th. We'll talk about this in more detail at the Sept. 2nd meeting at 7:30 pm at Cameron Center, Newbury Park. See you there! In Truth and Unity, Warmest greetings from Louise in Sweden. I want you to know how very much I miss all of my dear friends in the Lodge and everything that is familiar, America. I live with my youngest son Michael. We live in a small town, Fritsla. It is terribly overcrowded with foreign immigrants. There are many Muslims which is obvious by the women s clothing. I see more black people in an hour than I saw in Simi in a week. I am glad the lodge is doing well. Hugs to you all and be well. Louise.. Henning writing. I ask you to stay in contact with Bill. Life is not easy for him either. I am enclosing Louise s address so you could write to her if you wish. Louise Shearer, Mellanvägen 6, 51171 Fritsla, Sweden. PAGE 2 by Hemi
