TABLES TURN FOR WSU IN LOSS TO NEVADA On Monday, the tables were turned against the Weber State women s basketball team (2-2) as Nevada (3-1) claimed a 50-38 win at the Lawlor Events Center. After a dominating performance against Southern Utah, Weber State shot 26.4 percent from the floor, made just 2 of 16 shots from behind the arc (12.5%) and turned the ball over 24 times. Nevada scored the game s first seven points and shot 40 percent in the opening half, while holding the Cats to 22 percent shooting. The Wolfpack took a 27-17 lead at the break after leading by as many as 14 points. CONNER NAMED BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK Weber State s Sarah Conner was named the Big Sky Player of the Week for games played the week of November 17-24. Conner scored a game-high 22 points, leading the Wildcats to a 78-41 win over Southern Utah on Thursday afternoon. The senior guard shot 7-of-9 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. She also added two rebounds, two assists, three steals and a blocked shot as the Wildcats cruised to the 37-point win. Conner s six treys tied a career-high set against Utah Valley on Jan. 27 of last season. The native of Guersney, Wyo. is currently averaging 14.7 points per game, and has scored in double figures in all three games for the Wildcats so far this season. HOT AND COLD The Wildcats hit 13 of 25 three point field goal attempts against the T-Birds back on Nov. 19. The Cats were better from outside the arc (52%) than they were inside the 19 foot- 9 inch mark (34.2%). WSU made half of their field goals from outside, with 13 three s and 13 two-pointers. On Nov. 23 against Nevada, the story was quite different as the Cats shot just 26.4% overall and made just 2 of 16 attempts from behind the arc. The 38 points scored by the Wildcats tied for the seventh-lowest game total in school history. STIFLING DEFENSE The Wildcats put together 40 minutes of the defensive intensity that head coach Carla Taylor has been preaching on Thursday against the Thunderbirds. Weber State frustrated SUU all game long, forcing 20 turnovers and holding the T-Birds to 20.8% shooting from the floor (16.7% from three-point territory.) Caitlin Anderson and Ali Thorderson combined to score six unanswered points to open the second half, cutting the Wolfpack lead to four. But the Wildcats would get no closer as Nevada extended the lead back to double figures with just under nine minutes to play. The 41 points allowed ties for the 14th lowest WeberStateSports.com 3

mark in school history and the 11th lowest total in a home game for the Wildcats. RECORD WATCH WSU point guard Tonya Schnibbe is closing in on the Weber State all-time mark for assists. After posting a single-season school-record 194 assists last year, Schnibbe entered this season with a career total of 392, putting her 76 shy. Karleen Peart (1981-84) currently holds the all-time mark of 468. Schnibbe has recorded 30 assists this season, putting her at 422, within 46 of breaking the 25-year-old mark.
