FRIDAY S MOVES: The Braves yesterday optioned RHPs Brandon Cunniff and Sugar Ray Marimon to Gwinnett (AAA)...Atlanta purchased the contracts of RHPs John Cornely and Michael Kohn from Gwinnett... Cornely s his first appearance will mark his Major League debut (his bio can be found on page 265 of the Braves media guide)...he compiled a 1.04 ERA with 12 strikeouts and just one walk in five outings (8.2 IP) for GWI this season and he pitched in four spring training games for the Braves, with had two saves (3.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 W, 2 K)...Kohn has appeared in five games for the G-Braves, with 10 strikeouts and two walks in 8.1 IP (4.32 ERA)...He pitched in eight spring training games for Atlanta and went 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA and a.179 opponents average, with eight strikeouts and eight walks in 8.1 IP..Kohn has pitched in parts of four seasons (126 games, all in relief) at the Major League level (in 2010, 11, 13 & 14), all with the Los Angeles Angels. GREAT EIGHT: Veteran C A.J. Pierzynski went 1-for-3 with a double last night and has hit safely in all eight of his games (12-for-30,.400, 3 HR)...PARK IT: Pierzynski poked his second home run of the season and his first career homer at Turner Field on 4/14 as part of a back-to-back effort with Freddie Freeman in the fourth inning... Pierzynski has homered in 31 different MLB ballparks...there are just three current parks in which he has at least one plate appearance and has failed to homer (Citi Field, Nationals Park and Dodger Stadium). NICE INHERITANCE: The Braves bullpen leads the majors by allowing only 8.1% (3-of-37) of their inherited runners to score so far this season (0-for-6 last night). STREAK SNAPPER: OF Nick Markakis had his eight-game hitting streak snapped last night (0-for-3)...He hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 16-for-38 (.421) with a.511 on-base pct. in that stretch...he is batting.352 (seventh in the NL) on the season...he is 11-for-24 (.458) on this road trip, including 7-for-10 in last weekend s three-game series at Toronto (with a 4-for-4 game last Friday, with a walk and three runs). LEADERS IN THE FIELD: The Braves commtted four errors last night - their most in a singe game since April 2012 (four at Houston) and have now committed seven errors in their last four games...their error on Tuesday night at NYM snapped a streak of 68 consecutive errorless innings in the field...atlanta has still committed only eight miscues in 140.1 innings of play (604 total chances) this season and the Braves rank third in the NL with a.987 fielding percentage this season...leaders IN THE FIELD: The Braves commtted two errors on Tuesday night and snapped a streak of 68 consecutive errorless innings in the field (since the seventh inning on 4/11 against NYM)...Atlanta has still only committed four miscues in 132 innings of play (565 total chances) this season and the Braves lead the majors with a.993 fielding percentage this season...atlanta ranked third in the NL in fielding percentage (.986) last season and since Fredi Gonzalez s arrival in 2011, the Braves own the secondbest team fielding percentage in the majors, with a mark of.986 (CIN is No. 1, at.987)...four of the top five season fielding percentages in franchise history have come under Gonzalez. TURN TWO: The Braves defense is tied for the Major League lead with 23 double plays turned in 16 games this season...they turned five double plays in Saturday s 6-5 loss at Toronto. RISPY BUSINESS: The Braves rank fourth in the National League with a.287 batting average with runners in scoring position...they ranked 13th in the NL last season with a.236 RISP average. FRONT RUNNERS: The Braves have scored first eight times this season and have gone 6-2 in those games. RARE DAY: INF Alberto Callaspo struck out twice at the plate in Saturday s game at TOR - his first two strikeouts of the season...in the 889 career games in which he s had at least two at-bats, Callaspo has fanned twoor-more times in a game just 48 times...chart TOPPER: Callaspo s career rate of 11.18 plate appearances per strikeout is the best among all active players (see chart at right). BRAVES TO HONOR DON SUTTON WITH HOF INDUCTION: The Braves announced last week that longtime broadcaster Don Sutton will be inducted to the Braves Hall of Fame on Monday, July 20, at the 755 Club at Turner Field...A pregame ceremony will follow that evening when the Braves take on the Dodgers...Before his broadcast days, Sutton had a stellar playing career that spanned 23 seasons...his Major League career was highlighted by 324 wins with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers and California Angels. Sutton began his career in 1966 with the Dodgers, where he stayed for 16 years and achieved many of his personal bests...following his time with the Dodgers, he spent intervals of time with the Astros, Brewers and Angels before retiring in 1988...Sutton ranks seventh on baseball s all-time strikeout list with 3,574 and appeared in more than 750 games throughout his career...in 1989, Sutton joined Turner Sports as an analyst for Braves telecasts on TBS and spent 18 years covering Atlanta.
