MAY 12 Newsletter Page 2 P R E S I D E N T S M E S S A G E April normally starts the golf tournament season and May appears to be a very busy month with outside events, which unlike other clubs are normally limited to weekdays. I realize that there are times when the course is closed due to an outside event and prevents member play. The outside tournaments are important to MCC, not only for revenue but to showcase our facility and hopefully attract someone that is thinking of joining a country club. I want to thank you for your patience. Cary and the tournament committee are working on the MCC Four Ball. As in years past this promises to be an excellent event. Please plan to attend one of the functions, even if you are not playing. The board is still being aggressive with new incentive plans to attract new members. Please feel free to ask Janice or Lisa for more information, especially if you know of someone interested in joining MCC. I want to extend another special thank you to our 2 golf associations. As Bill Wallace pointed out last month the sponsored the updating of the upstairs club house offices. The MGA has committed to improving our driving range, which Jason is working on. Both of these projects were needed and made possible by our Women and Men s golf associations. Some of our projects are not just funded by the, MGA or Ponders. At times individual members will donate their time and financial resources for improvements. It might be something as simple as cleaning the grounds, helping out during a tournament. Projects such as the cart paths, sand for the traps, sod and other repairs were made possible by certain individuals with no publicity. MCC has a great membership and I want to close this month s message by saying thank you for allowing me to be your president! Happy Hour Tues. Fri 5-7pm 10% Off Drinks Tues. Night Family Night Kids Eat Free w/ Adult Entrée Steve Hillis President MCC F RO M YO U R C L U B H O U S E M A N A G E R I hope that everyone has enjoyed this wonderful weather and the interesting changes that we have employed this past month. Thank you for the learning curve and the words of support from those that have pulled me aside to share their thoughts on how things are changing. In April, we enjoyed a wonderful Easter Brunch, wine tastings and the kick-off to the golf event season. Wait till you see the schedule for May. At this time, there are only two days that are open dates without a planned event. By the time you receive this, I hope to have booked some entertainment for an extra special Friday Night with music and a extra special food special for that night. I hope to see everyone and their Mother here on her special day of May 13 th. Keep your eyes open for the emails from MCC to let you know about the menu for the Mother s Day Celebration. Before you know it, school will be out and we will be opening the pool area. Wayne has big plans to get everything up and running by the Memorial Day weekend. The cleanup of the deck and porch has already begun and I am going to put together a special menu for the kids and also some specials for the adults that come to lounge around. At the end of the month, we have the MCC Four-Ball, and I have been told this is a biggie. I hope I can help to make it as big and as fun as it has been in the past. Please come see me if you have time and let me know what your favorite part of the Four-Ball has been so I can make sure we don t miss a beat. So once again, Thank You for all the support and I will see you at the club. Bill Wallace Clubhouse Manager

Please be sure to check out the golf calendar regularly to view club events as well as outside events we might have scheduled. You may check the calendar on the website (www.maumellecc.com) under the golf tab. Now that the grass is growing we will need to close the practice range at 6pm on Sundays. This will allow us to get all the balls picked so the grounds crew can mow on Mondays. Thank you for understanding. May Shirt Sale!!! Now we are moving into tournament season and mowing season. This means we are busy! It is a great time of year. During the spring rain showers and thunderstorms are fairly common. Sometimes after these rains we have to ask the membership to play Cart Path Only, when this is the case please remain on the pavement. Driving in the rough does just as much or more damage as driving in the fairways so please remember to stay Cart Path Only when we post the signs. Please remember to check my blog site for course updates! www.mccturfcare.blogspot.com Thank you and have a great round! Jason Baker Golf Course Superintendent
