Transportation Planning and Project Implementation Metropolitan Transportation Plan/ECOS Plan Broad Vision/Goals for Chittenden County 20 year vision developed by CCRPC Planning Studies/Corridor Studies Comprehensive assessment of current and future transportation and land use conditions Scoping Studies Evaluate existing and future conditions and develop a locally accepted preferred alternative Funding TIP/STIP/Capital Program Design Right-of Way Construction

What is the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)? The TIP is a prioritized, fiscally-constrained, multiyear list of federally-funded transportation projects and operations in the MPO region Must be fiscally-constrained Must cover at least 4-years Must be updated at least every 4 years Authorizes obligation of federal funds

How do Projects Get on the TIP? The TIP is based on a continuing, comprehensive transportation planning process carried out cooperatively by the State, the MPO, and transit operators Projects must have completed, or nearly completed, the planning process and be ready for design Projects must have funding In order to spend funds, projects must be listed in VTrans Capital Program

How to Read the TIP The TIP contains the following three sections: Section I: Introduction What the TIP is Adoption Resolution Glossary of Acronyms TIP Map Section II: Projects by Municipality Chittenden County projects that CCRPC authorizes for obligation of federal funds

How to Read the TIP Section III: Summary of Financial Statistics Figures and tables showing federal funds by CCRPC Project Use Categories and federal funding sources
