SCOR April 2016 Board Meeting. Minutes April 11, 2016 7:00 PM Members present: Steven Dougan, Mark Vanni, Phil Bergen, Steve Sasse, Peter Coffin, Dean Craig, Stacy Hynes, Rob Jasminski, Julian Trotman, Tim Benedict, Guests: Amy Dowding, Emily Mills Agenda Mark called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. 1. Approve March 2016 minutes. Approved. 2. Committee Reports President Mark No heading/concussion Protocol Club has to make sure that our policies comply. This applies to entire club, not just travel. We need to make sure that we are communicating this to the coaches and parents. If a ref deems a player to have possible concussion symptoms. The player must leave the game and not be allowed to return to the field until they are cleared by a medical professional. We also need to make sure that the club is covered in the event of a lawsuit. Vice President Steve Supplies were good for Spring season. Additional soccer balls will be ordered and extra balls to be given to travel teams. Treasurer Rob/Kishore Bylaws say every 5 years the club needs to have an audit. Full policy, controls, financial and procedure audit to be done. Rob will set it up. Everything will be documented. Rob is waiting on price.

Discussion regarding hourly employees and independent contractors. This will be looked at in the audit. Scholarships. Ryan Meegan scholarship replaced the Diniz scholarship for both Boys and Girls. The SCOR scholarship will remain. We need to do a better job at advertising the scholarships. Diniz (Now Ryan Meegan) Phil s choice of a boy and girl SCOR Letters of recommendation with nomination. Website to be updated. Scholarship tab needs to have drop down for 3 scholarships. 1. Ryan Meegan. 2. SCOR. 3. Link to CJSA scholarship $ amount has been between $500 and $1000. In addition, to better ease parent anxieties: we have added additional complimentary training sessions for the 2006 birth years that are jumping to U 11 we have added additional tryout sessions for the 2007 birth years moving to U 10: 3 tryouts this year as opposed to just 1 last year The A1/A2 parents meeting will take place on April 25. Phil and Julian will lead it and discuss the coming Fall 2016 changes to Academy (e.g. A7, A8 and A9)

Travel Stacy/Dean Season has begun. Need to figure out U9 for Fall. Discussion to come. Mark Do we stay with just academy or is there a need to add U9. Julian Meeting will be scheduled with to discuss and will report back. Mark recommending at select U9 team for the Fall. Further discussion on premier teams and how we retain the kids through our programs and keep them in our club. Stacy Who are we and what do we want to be as a club. Suggestion from Mark or having 2 black teams at the younger age groups. These teams will end up merging together as the go to full sided games. Need to start scheduling the try outs. Dates scheduled. Fields and time for each group needs to be done. Sessions will be run the same as before. Fields Shawn Here is the fields status: All fields are now lined including the overlays, let me know if any changes are required Portable toilets should have been delivered, I have not had a chance to check all locations, so let me know if there is a need All nets requiring replacement or repair have been completed There are extra sand bags and sand in the shed should they be needed Open items: We need to move one set of 18" goals to Onalfo We need volunteers to assemble and net six 10" foot goals for house We need to move additional 10 " goals to Onalfo Parks and Rec Update Mark reporting Parks and Rec looking to us to turf Onalfo. Mark has spoken to Parks and Rec again about field space for SCOR. Web/Communications Frank Finally (apologies for the delay here), our Scholarship section created.

Ryan Meegan Fund details on the site now: https://leagueathletics.com/page.asp?n=119291&org=scor.org It is a top level page and we have room to add as many scholarships underneath as we can derive. However, I have either deleted or mis categorized the other scholarship information, but would be glad to get that in there if someone could re forward it to me. A notice was sent out today on Facebook and Twitter about (some of) the fields being opened: https://twitter.com/scor1234/status/719576827069640705 https://www.facebook.com/416624528375359/posts/1021026721268467 Per our conversation, a rules change was posted regarding the ruling for heading a ball in play which will be enforced this season by the referees: Just a quick reminder. There are some rules changes around the ages at which a player may head a ball during competition. Additionally, players should not practice this technique prior to the age at which they're allowed to use the technique in competition. The rule is this: Heading in games at U11 or younger competitions* including 5/6 Rec plus, is not allowed. During these games Referees must follow the following procedure: When a player deliberately heads the ball in a game, an indirect free kick (IFK) should be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense. If the deliberate header occurs within the goal area, the indirect free kick should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the infringement occurred. If a player does not deliberately head the ball, then play should continue. We will start to send out images from the games. If you want you can tag them into the SCOR feeds at FB, Instagram and Twitter or send them to me ( frank.speiser@gmail.com ).
