The Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) has announced the recipients of its college scholarships for 2017. Mike Brown from ABCC received one of the five college scholarships awarded. He was also recognized for being the most qualified scholar among the 15 who applied. The annual Bill Black Plaque was presented to Mike representing this accomplishment. TENNIS UPDATE Visit the Sports Shop Starting Tuesday, August 22 nd come out to the courts to blow off some steam with the fellas. to have your Racquet Tuned Up The format will be a drop in round robin with Coach Bill leading the action and making the pairings. Cold beer will be available at happy hour pricing to ensure appropriate hydration levels as well. Fall Junior Program Our programs use the USTA Quickstart format and different sized racquets and balls depending upon the students age and ability. Please read the descriptions below to learn the skills and requirements for each phase of development. Tiny Shots Tennis Red Ball Ages: 3-6 $15 per class Tiny Shots is designed to introduce our juniors to tennis and work on the basics of developing his/her motor skills using fun, energetic games. Equipment: Balls are larger and softer, racquets are 23 inches or smaller, and the court is 36 feet long Schedule: Our Tiny Shots meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 5pm. Grinders Green Dot Ages 8 to 12 $22 per class Grinders use rally-based drills and games using all the strokes of tennis. Players in our Grinders group have the ability to rally and have a basic knowledge of point play. Equipment: Balls are green dot low compression, racquets are 25-27 inches, and the court is the full 78 feet long. Schedule: Our Grinders meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 to 6:30pm. Receive 10% off when you restring with a regrip. Your racquet steadily loses tension and playability day by day. In order to keep it at optimal performance it should be restrung at a minimum of every three months and regripped every 10 to 20 hours of play. Future Stars Orange Ball Ages: 7 to 10 $15 per class Future Stars work on knowledge and mechanics of forehand, backhand, volley and serve so that players can engage in point and match play. Equipment: Balls are lower compression, racquets are 23-25 inches, and the court is 60 feet long. Schedule: Our Future Stars meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 5pm. Champs Regular Ball Ages 11 to 16 $22 per class Our Champs group uses a disciplined, game based approach to help players go further recreationally or competitively. Equipment: Champs use a standard ball and play on a full 78 foot court. Schedule: Champs meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 to 6:30pm.
With Channing Bob Starts Wednesday, September 6th at 11am Kids Crafts Corner Every Wednesday and Friday Night All ages welcome 6-8pm $6 per class or package rates available at Let your little one enjoy arts and $4 per class crafts on the lawn while you enjoy happy hour on the back patio. Bring your little ones for a fun movement, sing along and story time class located in the Group Fitness Room. Registration beings at 8am Warm ups are at 8:30am Meet begins at 9am $10 registration fee, $5 per event, Max 5 events Events: 100m Free Relay, Backstroke 100m, 25m, 50m, Breaststroke 25m, 50m, 100 Free Open, Fly 25m, 50m, Free Style 25m, 50m. We will be offering swimmers a chance to race for fun. See if you can beat your best time, or have an opportunity to have fun and race in some events with your friends and family. You do not need to be a member of the ABCC year-round swim team to compete. This meet will be run similar to developmental meets around the area. Each heat will be competing against the swimmers in their own heat for prizes. We will have heat sheets, but due to deck entries we will also be lining swimmers up by age and organizing heats behind the block. Each swimmer will have a time card, they will hand the timers their card, and get them back at the end of their swim. The time cards are for the swimmers to keep so you can keep track of the times you swam and compare them to future meets! Masters swimmers and parents are encouraged to participate. Eligibility: ABCC members and their guests are welcome (charged to member account). May be any age. Registration: If you are an ABCC Snapping Turtle Member, you may register online via team unify. If you are not on our swim team you may email Coach Mo (swimteam@atlanticbeachcountryclub.com) with your entries or register on the pool deck Sunday morning. Fees: $10 registration fee, $5 per event, max 5 events. Relays are no cost. Grab four swimmers and organize yourselves for fun.
