Merry Christmas, Mama We Moms are cooking, and cleaning, and baking, and shopping, and wrapping, while looking out for our children s best. So we are tired and crabby because of all this stress! But Merry Christmas, Mama. Take a minute just for you. Eat some birthday cake for Jesus, and forget all you have to do. Think about your mother, who s done all this before. She was there to change your diapers, and to help you trim your tree. Just remember how blessed you are to have your family. Think about those women, who want a child of their own, and how they hurt and suffer, longing for a child to hold. And remember to be thankful that you are not alone. Think about the homeless, the orphans, the poor, the sick, the elders, and neglected who celebrate with no cheer. And remember all you have and all you hold dear. Most of all think about our Savior, who was born in an obscure place, to an insignificant woman, placed in rags and seeming disgrace - But also that there was an angel s crowd, and the shepherds heard, and the wise men bowed. Remember Him, and let your heart be grateful. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord Luke 2:10-11 -Scotta
Double Crust Pie Dough 2 1/4 cups flour 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup cold butter cut into pieces 1/4 cup shortening 1 Tbsp white or apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup ice cold water Pie Crust Recipe Dump flour and salt into the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and mix for a second or two on low blend (if mixing by hand, then combine in a regular size bowl with a wisk). Add the butter and shortening and run mixer on low (or if by hand, use a fork or pastry blender). Work the mixture until it is crumbly and the largest pieces of butter are no larger than a pea (about 1/4 inch). As the mixer turns on low (or as you are tossing with a fork, if mixing by hand), sprinkle the cold water and vinegar evenly over the mixture. Work the dough very gently until it jut pulls together in a shaggy ball. Separate the dough in half and gently form into two round discs and place into two separate gallon size ziplock bags. Place in fridge for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes dough is ready to roll out into either a double crust pie or 2 single crust pies.

Canned or Boxed Food Drive Next Month! Next month for our service project we are having a food drive for My Friends Place, a teen homeless shelter. For every canned or boxed food item that you bring in, you will get a free ticket to go towards the Spa Day raffle. They are also in need of paper towels, trash bags, and cocoa. If you bring in 1 item you will get 1 ticket, if bring in 10 items you will get 10 tickets, so the more food you bring the more tickets you will get!!! There will also be a contest among the tables. The table that brings in the most food, by weight, will get a small prize. Recycling for Brain Cancer Research Thank you to everyone who has brought in items to be recycled for Brain Cancer Research this year so far! There are two different recycling campaigns you can participate in: Health & Beauty or Dental. We previously had something about the Health & Beauty products that you can recycle. If you would like to participate in the dental recycling here are examples of the dental products that we can recycle for brain cancer research.
