Maine Trail Riders Gt6 Association, Inc. April 2015 www.mainetrailriders.com Volume 21.04 H Vice-President s Stall FBEATS Official Newsletter of The M T R A THE NEXT MEETING IS APRIL 11, 2015 Officers: Trudy Bickford, President Riley Morse,Vice-President Cathy Small, Treasurer Board of Directors: Nancy Weeks 2017 Sandy Craig 2017 Sally Labree - 2017 Riley Morse 2016 Melissa Bourgoin 2016 Nora MacDonald 2016 Julie Anderson - 2015 Cathy Small 2015 Spring is here. Today s snow had me wondering, but maple syrup, shedding horses and longer days are a sure sign that riding season isn t too far away. We missed the March meeting because of some terrible weather, so we ve got a bit of work to do to get ready for the season and some rapidly approaching events. Speaking of which, here are a few reminders: Our fun show is scheduled for May 9 th at the clubhouse. The registration form will soon be on the website and sent out via email. We are still in need of volunteers to help with setup, food donation, food booth, cleanup and more. If you d like to help with the MTRA show, contact Sandy Craig. In advance of the spring shows, we will be holding a work bee later in April at the clubhouse. We will set a date at the meeting this Saturday. The first ride scheduled for May 31 st in Jay. The 2015 ride calendar is getting full, but there are still weekends left. If you are interested in sponsoring a ride, please let us know. You can find the official schedule in the newsletter, and updates will be at the clubhouse and on the website. See you at the clubhouse on April 11th! Bring your appetite and arrive at 6:30 for a junior sponsored Lasagna dinner. Cost is $6.00 per person. Riley.

Motion to adjourn: Rachael made motion and Sally seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:30ish Nancy Weeks, acting secretary. Tip of the Month Information found under the Tip of the Month may be on the Junior Test at the end of the year. Normal Salt Intake: There are no age, gender, or breed predilections that influence the voluntary salt intake of an individual horse. Salt helps maintain electrolytes and water balance in horses as it does in all animals, and certain individuals may consume more or less salt than others based on need and preferences. Best approach is to provide a salt block and allow voluntary intake, while limiting the amount of salt for horses that gobble it. LOST! Lost: A green trail halter. During one of the rides this fall, Cody s green trail halter has disappeared. Did anyone find one maybe after the ride was over or possibly where our trailers were parked? I would appreciate it if you could return it. Thanks Cathy Email: Cathy@MaineTrailRiders.com Phone: 207-582-2093
