The event is scheduled for April 2016 and the goal is to have one event for both Vallejo HS and Jesse Bethel HS in one location. This is a collaboration with Hospitals, High Schools, Police and Service Clubs. This event will help prevent drunk driving deaths that occur among our youths. Our District gave $13,000 and in addition to grant money, will help subsidize this great event. This type of event will help get our name out to the community and help build our club #'s so that we can reach our goal of 100 members for Rotary's 100 anniversary. Loma Vista Spring event April 16 and Rotarian's are joining in to help facilitate. This event is a Science educational format for kids. We would like to get 10 to 13 Rotarian's to help out. Constance gave $10 because she was at Stephan Manor and was pleased to see Luis Romero. Also a past president of Vallejo Rotary, Mimi Sharpe, is in Oregon in a Rotary club there. Pete Friesen gave $10 because Ann Grove was taller than most of the 3rd graders. (with her heels on) Jim Casper gave $10 because he enjoyed getting paid for his training in a 40 million dollar simulator flying machine. Avery Greene gave $20 because he was pleased to help the golf tournament with his sponsorship. Walter gave $20 because he was happy that his father confirmed that Pete is in fact not in the Newell family will. Denise gave $10 because she will be going on a family trip next week. Dave Perry gave $10 because he had new student registration and there was 20 more kids at this one than the last one. Vijay was there with his daughter. Shane McAffee gave $10 for a great day with Vijay delivering dictionaries. Also on a sad note Shane's mom is in the hospital and went to Yuma Arizona to check on her. They are doing testing and hopefully, will find out what is causing her discomfort. Jeannie Kilkenny-Turk gave $5 because her daughter's softball team is having a great season and also delivering dictionaries is her favorite day. Robert gave $5 because he was very excited to have his son, who is a 3rd grader, there in the classroom while he was delivering dictionaries. Joke for the week: A lawyer from California is driving in West Virginia and a police officer pulls him over. The lawyer asked the officer why he is being pulled over. The officer said that he failed to completely stop sign. The lawyer said that he did slow down nearly stopped and then continued. The lawyer, feeling confident that he is a much more intelligent person, than a West Virginian, asks the officer if he could define for him the difference between nearly stopping and stopping and if he could he would gladly accept the ticket but if he couldn't then perhaps he should let him go. The officer said sure, and asked the lawyer to get out of the car, which at that point he began to beat the lawyer with his baton violently to his body. As he is doing this, the officer asks the attorney if he would like him to stop or slow down? Program Dictionary Handout! The happiest Rotary day of the year.
