Newsletter A Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters Volume 36, number 5 September/October 2018 President s Message: With the luncheon fast approaching, don't forget to get your raffle tickets. Remember selling these tickets allows us to have our monthly teachers. In July, Marlene Fudge taught a seascape. The interesting part was, we didn't have a pattern to trace. Marlene taught us to freehand the project and we were able to complete and decorate with the shells she provided. Our August meeting was a watercolor of a water mill, which was taught by Nancy Pitcher. Again, we had a stress-free project and we were able to have a beautiful completed landscape. Thank you Marlene and Nancy for teaching these projects and all the time spent in preparation. Charlotte At last month's meeting, I was asked to provide the following recipe. This was previously in our newsletter as a recipe "shared by Joan Boyer" Sinful saltines 1 sleeve saltines 2 sticks butter 1 cup sugar 2 cups chocolate chips or chocolate melts Line a cookie sheet with foil and spray with Pam. Crush sleeve of saltines and put on cookie sheet. Boil butter and sugar for 3 minutes until mixed. Pour over saltines. Bake 350 for 10 minutes. Put chocolate on top. Wait a few minutes and spread chocolate. Cool and break into pieces to serve. Directions to Our Meeting Place Address: Chestnut Township Park, Route 715 South, Brodheadsville, PA. Telephone: 570-992-9733 Time: 9AM to 2 PM From Tannersville Take 611 to Route 715 S. heading toward Lehighton, bear slightly left staying on Route 715 S. You will travel 12.14 miles on this road. The Township Park Building is on your right. From Stroudsburg Merge onto I80-US 209 S. toward Lehighton. Turn right onto PA 715/ Creek Road at the WaWa. The Park Building is on the left about ½ mile. From Lehighton or the PA. Turnpike follow Route 209 toward Stroudsburg for about 16.5 miles to Route 715. Turn left - in about ½ mile the Park Building will be on the left. Please don t forget to bring your contribution to the Food Pantry Vegetables and fruit are especially needed.

LUNCHEON ART CONTEST The Luncheon theme is "A Florida Vacation" and any pieces for the Art Contest need to fit that theme. OSo what do you find in Florida, besides pink flamingos, alligators, and retired people to paint? There are theme parks, beaches, lots of wild life on land and in the water. There is no shortage of citrus, tropical flowers and palm trees. There is such a variety of things that you can paint which would fit the theme! Be creative and have fun. That is what painting is all about. Thank You for all of your help with the luncheon. Joan & Rocky Please clip the tags below and attach one to each item donated, THANKS!!!
