The Cards dealt the first blow with an RBI single by LF Conner Capel in the top of the 1 st, but the Drillers responded with a four-run bottom of the inning, including a two-run shot by RF Cody Thomas. The two teams traded solo blasts from Tulsa SS Omar Estevez in the 2 nd and Springfield 2B Irving Lopez in the 3 rd, before the Drillers opened their lead to 10-2 with one run in the 3 rd and four more in the 4 th. The Cardinals countered with two in the 5 th on a wild pitch and a CF Dylan Carlson RBI sac fly, and added an RBI single from SS Kramer Robertson in the 6 th to shave it to 10-5. The Drillers, though, responded with two runs in the bottom of the 5 th, opening the 12-5 lead. Robertson belted a solo home run in the 9 th, but the Drillers finished off the 12-6 win from there. Carlson takes control OF Dylan Carlson s single and RBI sac fly extended an early season hitting and RBI streak to five straight games, during which he is 8x19 with two homers, four doubles and seven RBIs. Just 20 years old, Carlson leads the club out of the gates with four doubles and eight RBIs, and is tied for the team lead with two long-balls, driving in at least one run in six of his first seven games.
