Lee County Department of Transportation 1500 Monroe Street Fort Myers, FL 33901 (239) 533-8580 (239) 485-8520 Fax ROAD WATCH UPDATE May5 th through May 11 th, 2016 Road Maintenance This Week Striping Maintenance: Lee County DOT will be performing a moving operation with traffic delays on 5-5-16 through 5-11-16 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting) on: Bonita Beach Road Hickory Boulevard Intersection Work: Intermittent lane closures and delays are possible on 5-5-16 through 5-11-16 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting) on the following roadways: Imperial Parkway @ East Terry Street Summerlin Road Three Oaks Parkway Raised Pavement Marker (RPM) Maintenance: Lee County DOT will be performing a moving operation with traffic delays on 5-5-16 through 5-11-16 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (weather permitting) on: Leonard Boulevard Westgate Boulevard For questions relating to the above road maintenance projects, contact Randy Hart at 239-533-9500.

Ben Hill Griffin Parkway north of Estero Blvd: Ajax Paving Industries/Lee Mar Construction will add turn lanes on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway north of Estero Blvd. to a point south of the FGCU entrance. This includes median and shoulder work on both sides of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. Motorists should use caution in this area as there will be intermittent daily lane closures and possible delays between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, weather permitting. Construction is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 6 th and should take approximately 75 days to complete. For further questions, contact Rodney Jacobs at 533-9300. Landscaping - Hancock Bridge Parkway: Lee County DOT will be replacing plants, trees and will sod several areas on Hancock Bridge Parkway from U.S. 41 to Orange Grove Boulevard beginning May 11 th. There will be intermittent lane closures and DOT will provide the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). This landscaping project should be completed by May 12th, 2016. Pine Island Road Matlacha: Lee County DOT will be performing shoulder repair work beginning Monday, May 9 th, on Pine Island Road in the Matlacha area. Motorists should use caution in the area as there will be lane closures. Work will begin at 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and anticipate this project to be completed by Friday, May 13 th. For further questions, contact Jeremy Norvell at 533-9423. Road Paving - Orange Grove Boulevard: Lee County DOT will be managing a paving project on Orange Grove Boulevard on Thursday, May 5 th. Paving will be done on Orange Grove just south of Hancock Bridge Parkway between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further questions, contact Dirk Danley at 239-533-9305. Traffic Signal Work U.S. 41 & Coconut Road: Lee County DOT will perform overhead traffic signal work at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road on May 11 th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorists should use caution when travelling in this area as the traffic signal will be dark. Road Work/Maintenance/Improvements: Bonita Springs - Shangri-La & Imperial Parkway: Highway Safety Devices will be constructing a new signal intersection at Shangri-La and Imperial Parkway in Bonita Springs beginning March 18 th through June 16 th, 2016. Motorists should use caution when traveling in this area as there will be lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the right turn lanes. Sidewalk work will also be done and will remain open to pedestrians. Advanced warning signs will be in place alerting traffic. Burnt Store Road from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway: Construction Project: This project consists of the initial widening of Burnt Store Road to four lanes (ultimately the future design is for six lanes with a two-lane frontage road). The project also includes installation of conduits under the road for the City of Cape Coral. The speed limit is reduced to 45 miles per hour. Motorists should use caution as construction vehicles enter and exit the roadway. NW 12 th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection is closed temporarily as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. This road closure will remain in effect for the duration of the project. Motorists should access NW 31 st Place via NW 9 TH Terrace. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction. NW 14 th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection is CLOSED PERMANENTLY as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. Motorists should access NW 14 th Terrace via NW 16 th Street. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction. NW 17 th Lane at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection is CLOSED PERMANENTLY as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. Motorists should now use NW 16 th Street to access the neighborhood. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction. On Thursday, March 31 st, NW 19 th Terrace from Burnt Store Road to NW 31 st Place will CLOSE PERMANENTLY as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. Motorists should now use NW 18 th Terrace to access the neighborhood. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.

This north segment from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway costs $15.3 million and the City of Cape Coral s utility conduits are $550,000. The contractor is Quality Enterprises, USA, Inc. Champion Avenue - Lehigh Acres: will be closed to through traffic between Beauty St. and Butte St. beginning Wednesday, April 20 th at 9 a.m. Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District will be replacing a failing culvert pipe. College Parkway Sidewalk Maintenance: Lee County DOT will be doing sidewalk maintenance on the north side of College Parkway starting west of Winkler Road to College Pointe Ct. in the west bound lanes. The work is scheduled to start April 26 th, and be completed by May 6 th, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution when travelling in the area as there will be a single lane closure in the west bound lanes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further questions, contact Doug Busbee at 239-533-9400. Colonial Boulevard Pathway construction: Fort Myers, FL: A new shared use path is being constructed on Colonial Boulevard from Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevard to East of Winkler Avenue as part of the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organizations Complete Streets Initiative. The contractor has completed paving the shared use path which is anticipated to open within the next few weeks. No lane closures are expected. Work is expected to be complete in the spring 2016. Corkscrew Road at I-75 Ramp Bike lane and sidewalk construction: Estero, FL: As part of the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organizations Complete Streets Initiative, sidewalks are being replaced and bike lanes are being added along Corkscrew Road between Corkscrew Woodlands Boulevard and Stoneybrook Golf Boulevard. From May 5 th May 11 th motorists can expect intermittent daytime lane closures on Corkscrew Road weekdays during off peak hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Access to I-75 from Corkscrew Road will be maintained. Fort Myers - Crystal Drive to close at Plantation Road for roundabout construction project: Crystal Drive will be closed at Plantation Road beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, as part of a project to install a roundabout to ease congestion and improve safety. Crystal Drive at Plantation will remain closed for about three months. Detours will be posted using Commerce Park Drive and Arc Way to travel between Metro Parkway and Plantation Road. Lee County RWA For week of May 9, 2016 - Estero Boulevard Construction refresh Estero Boulevard/Waterlines Times Square to Lovers Lane Contractors for Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, gas main and sanitary sewer force main on Estero Boulevard from Times Square to Gulfview Colony. Two travel lanes will remain open the majority of the time; however, intermittent lane closures may be necessary. Crews do NOT work on weekends. Times Square to Red Coconut RV Park: refresh Waterlines crews will grout the old water main, and patch and restore side streets near intersections with Estero Boulevard. Crescent Street to Lovers Lane: Motorists should expect northbound and southbound travel lane shifts on Estero Boulevard from Lani Kai south to Lovers Lane. NORTHBOUND Estero Blvd. - refresh Estero Boulevard crews will install sanitary sewer force main, demo sidewalk, install conduits in sidewalk area and reconstruct sidewalk on the bay side of Estero Boulevard. SOUTHBOUND Estero Blvd. - refresh Estero Boulevard crews will regrade roadway. FPL crews will be relocating power poles and services from Crescent Street to Lovers Lane during the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday. Gateway Roadway Rehab Work: Striping will be taking place in the overnight hours throughout Gateway. Sign installation will also be taking place throughout Gateway. Guardrail repairs - Brantley Road: Lee County DOT will be performing guardrail repairs and bridge maintenance on Brantley Road west of Cleveland Avenue beginning May 2 nd, 2016 and plan to finish up May 5 th, 2016, weather permitting. Guardrail repairs - Orange River Boulevard: Lee County DOT will be performing guardrail repairs on Orange River Boulevard west of Staley Road beginning May 2 nd, 2016 and plan to finish up May 5 th, 2016, weather permitting. San Carlos Park Sidewalk Construction: Fort Myers, FL: New sidewalks are being installed in San Carlos Park on Lee Road from Sanibel Boulevard to Alico Road, on Sanibel Boulevard from Iris Road to Lee Road and Constitution Circle/Iris Road from Constitution Boulevard to Sanibel Boulevard. From May 5 th May 11 th motorists can expect intermittent daytime lane closures on Sanibel Boulevard and on Iris Road. Six Mile Cypress Parkway Paved shoulders: Fort Myers, FL: Paved shoulders are being added to Six Mile Cypress Parkway from Metro Parkway to Daniels Parkway as part of the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organizations Complete Streets. US 41 Transmission Mains Lee County Utilities south of Old Gladiolus Drive to north of Cypress Lake Drive: Contractors for Lee County Utilities are installing new water mains on the west side of US 41 from south of Old Gladiolus Drive to north of Cypress Lake Drive. Crews are working near the roadway. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution. Project completion is expected spring 2016. Lee County Utilities Old Gladiolus Drive to Sunrise Boulevard: Contractors for Lee County Utilities are installing new water main and sewer force main on the east side of US 41 from south of Old Gladiolus Drive north to Sunrise Boulevard. Work will typically occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews are working near the roadway. Some driveways will be temporarily closed but businesses and residences will have access throughout the project. Some sidewalks may be closed on the east side of US 41. Some bus stops may be closed and relocated. This schedule may be subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution. Project completion is expected spring 2017. Veterans Memorial Parkway-Surfside to Pine Island/Burnt Store Road: Installation of fiber conduits will begin on Thursday March 17 th, on the south side of Veterans Parkway at Surfside and progressing west to Pine Island/Burnt Store Road. Men and equipment will be working in the right-of-way near the outside travel lane. Motorists are advised to be alert and use caution when traveling through the construction area. Bridge Maintenance Cypress Creek Bridge # 124037: Lee County DOT will be performing concrete repairs to the bridge over Cypress Creek on North River Road. The job is scheduled to start May 16 th, 2016 and finish May 27 th, weather permitting. There will be a single lane closure from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Big Carlos Draw Bridge # 120028: Lee County DOT will be performing bridge maintenance on the Big Carlos Draw Bridge beginning May 4 th, and plan to finish up May 12 th, 2016, weather permitting. 3. Landscaping Landscaping - Alico Road: Lee County DOT will be installing trees in the median on Alico Road from Three Oaks Parkway to Dusty Road beginning May 3 rd and should be completed by May 5 th. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in this area as there will be an MOT set up (maintenance of traffic) and a single lane closure.
