Teams are seeded 1 through 20. TOURNAMENT FORMAT Teams 1-4 receive byes in the opening round. Teams 13-20 are only eligible for Tiers II, III and IV. On Thursday: #5 plays #12, #6 plays #11, #7 plays #10 and #8 plays #9. The winners join seeds 1-4 in Tier I. On Thursday: #13 plays #20, #14 plays #19, #15 plays #18 and #16 plays #17. The losers are in Tier IV. Please note that the tournament committee will review all seeding following the opening round games and reserves the right to reseed teams. The losers of the 5-12 games and the winners of the 13-20 games will compete on Friday. The winners of those Friday games go into Tier II and the losers go into Tier III. If any dispute or question arises during a game on matters out of the referees jurisdiction the issue must be immediately brought to the attention of the tournament committee and submitted in writing immediately after the game. The tournament committee, which arbitrates all basketball-related matters, includes Elliot Steinmetz, Jon Bandler, and the chief referee. 3
THREE-POINT SHOOTOUT Each team will have one participant. In all rounds, the shooter has 60 seconds to make as many 3-pointers as possible. Contestants must move to a different spot after 20 seconds and then again after 40 seconds. Each shooter is responsible for finding teammates to rebound and pass the ball. THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2019 * OPENING ROUND 11:15AM (between 1st and 2nd games) - Shooters from Ida Crown, HA Montreal, Maimonides School, Fasman Yeshiva HS 2:15PM (between 3rd and 4th games) - Katz YHS, Southern California YHS, Cooper Yeshiva, Beren Academy 5:15PM (between 5th and 6th games) - Shooters from YULA, Posnack School, MTA, Hillel Academy of Pittsburg 8:15PM (between 7th and 8th games) - Shooters from SAR, Valley Torah, TABC, and Beth Tfiloh Contestants from Shalhevet, Magen David, Frisch, and DRS will shoot after their games on Friday. Shooters go at the same time but are NOT competing head-to-head Top 8 scorers advance to Sunday quarterfinals. Quarterfinalists will be announced before Shabbat. SUNDAY, MARCH 17, 2019 QUARTERFINALS (11:45am - after the 10:30am game) Contestants will shoot at the same time but again not head-to-head Top 4 scorers advance to semifinals SEMIFINALS (immediately following the Quarterfinals) This is the only head-to-head round Second high scorer from quarterfinals will face third high scorer. Second semifinal will pit top quarterfinal scorer against fourth high scorer. FINALS (1:15pm after the 12:00pm game) Finalist with the lower semifinal score shoots first. 4
