INTRODUCTION The NSSDC wuld like t welcme all caches t the Club Cach Certificatin Prgram fr U6 and U7 Caches. The purpse f this dcument is t assist caches with their preparatin fr Cach Certificatin Prgram. This dcument is t be used as a reference guide during the prgram. NSSDC COACH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM The Canadian Sccer Assciatin (CSA) and British Clumbia Sccer Assciatin (BCSA) prvide an extensive array f prgressive cach certificatin prgrams which are explained in detail by visiting the BCSA website address belw. http://www.bcsccer.net/bcsa/coaches/cachingclinics/tabid/79/default.aspx Thrugh its unique designatin as an fficial BCSA District Develpment Centre the Nrth Shre Sccer Develpment Center is licensed t ffer the Cmmunity Cach Certificatin series t the Nrth Shre club caches. The NSSDC member clubs, Nrth Shre Girls, Lins Gate Sccer Ass. and Lynn Valley Sccer Ass. takes advantage f this pprtunity by prviding all its club caches a mandatry cach certificatin prgram beginning at the U-6 / U-7 entry level. This prgram is nw in its 7 th year and is prud t have placed 500 Nrth Shre caches n the fficial CSA / BCSA cach certificatin path. What it means t yu as a cach f the team and als yu as parent f each player At the beginning f each new seasn in September the new U-7 caches and players cme in t the NSSDC center n alternate Saturdays t wrk with the Licensed NSSDC Staff caches. The teams and its caches will participate in 10 Saturday n field sessins fr 1 hur 15mins ending in December. Prir t the start f the prgram the NSSDC will prvide each club cach an fficial prgram curriculum guide which will be delivered bth electrnically and n the NSSDC website in the frm f easy t understand lessn plans. The club team caches will als be ffered an n field caching clinic t prepare them fr the curse. Once the seasn begins NSSDC Staff will prvide nging mentrship t the club caches with the emphasis n the club cach t run the sessin.

All activities are age apprpriate and can be adapted fr players f all levels f ability. 3v3 4v4 Games At the end f each sessin teams will be made up f 3 r 4 players and will play 3v3 r 4v4 games depending n the numbers. Players play fr 8 mins and then rtate s that each team play against at least 2 different teams. During these games it is imprtant t remember: Organise the players quickly and get them playing N subs, ensure all players are invlved at all times Dn t cach the game give players psitive encuragement and let them play Encurage players t be selfish and dribble at all times Explain rules when needed Caches shuld have a supply f balls at their feet. When yu arrive mini fields will have been set up by the NSSDC caching staff. Mini Fields will be 25yds in length and 20yds wide with 2 small gals 2-3yds

Classrm Sessin In rder t cmplete the curse caches are required t have cmpleted 5 hurs n field and 3 hurs in the classrm. Each club will arrange 2 dates fr these classrm sessins and caches are t attend ne f the dates. In rder t qualify fr these classrm sessins yu must be able t prve yu have cmpleted 5 hurs n field. Parent infrmatin It is imprtant that all caches infrm all the parents f the teams the purpse f this curse. Bth the clubs and NSSDC get several calls each year frm parents wh dn t understand why the club caches are cnducting the sessin and nt the NSSDC caches. Please explain t parents that this is a cach certificatin curse and purpse is t educate the club caches by having a NSSDC cach wrking clsely with the club caches t develp them t becme better caches by giving feedback during the sessin and stepping int the sessin when necessary. Cach Certificatin Prgram Prcedure fr Club Caches Read and familiarise yurself with all 10 sessins cntained within this dcument. 1 week Prir t sessin NSSDC Staff caches and Club caches will be infrmed f the sessin number t be cnducted Arrive 15 mins early t meet with the assigned Instructr t discuss sessin and sign in. Curse instructr will greet all club caches and players and discuss the sessin fr the day and assign teams t fields. An NSSDC Cach will be assigned t flat between fields please nte the fllwing intructins Greet NSSDC cach and Lk at sessin plan and discuss the sessin. Cnduct Sessin. The NSSDC cach assigned t flat between fields will assist when necessary, prviding feedback and stepping in when needed Discuss and evaluate sessin with NSSDC cach wh will give feedback.

SESSION 2 Dribbling Warm Up : Steal the eggs Organisatin Set up a 20x20yd grid with a small 5x5yd grid in the middle (see diagram). Place all the balls inside the smaller grid. Split the grup int 4 teams and have each team stand at the 4 crners f the larger grid. On the caches cmmand the first player frm each team runs int the centre grid and picks up a ball and carries the ball back t their team. They give the next player in line a high 5 fr them t g and cllect a ball. The game cntinues in this fashin until all the balls have left the central grid. At this pint players can g and steel balls frm the ther teams, but nly ne at a time. The team, which has the mst sccer balls at the end f the game, is the winner. Prgressins Set tasks fr players t perfrm e.g. hp n ne leg, crawl in crab psitin, perfrm a smersault etc. Players must rll ball r thrw ball t next player befre they can g steel the balls Place bstacles fr players t run arund Players must nw dribble a ball using their feet Players pass the ball int the next player fr them t g and cllect a ball Place bstacles like cnes fr players t dribble thrugh Dribbling Game : Crabs n the Beach Organisatin Set up a 15x15yd grid. Have Players line up n ne side f the grid. Infrm them that they Are surfers at the beach ready t d sme serius surfing. The nly prblem is, this beach is full f crabs. The cach selects 2 crabs that adpt the famus crab psitin in the centre f the grid. While the rest f the grup attempt t make it t the ther side f the grid while dribbling the balls. If a crab makes cntact with ne f the surfers balls they then becme a crab. Last surfer left wins. Prgressin Place bstacles in the grid fr players t avid. 1v1 Classic Numbers game Organisatin Set up a 25x20 small field and split players int 2 teams. Teams line up us shwn in the diagram. The cach numbers the players in each team. The cach plays a ball nt the field and calls a number. The players then cmpete t scre a gal. The team with the mst gals at the end wins. SESSION 3 Passing and receiving Warm Up : Freeze Tag Organisatin Set up a 20x20yd grid. Have Players line up n ne side f the grid, The cach selects 1 r 2 Taggers that wear the bibs. The rest f the grup run arund the grid trying t avid the taggers. If they happen t get tagged they are frzen and must hld their hands abve their head, pen their legs and cry fr help. The nly way t be rescued is by ne f yur team mates t crawl under yur legs. Prgressin Players dribble ball arund the grid aviding the taggers. If tagged, T be rescued a player must pass the ball under yur legs. Passing Game : Gate game Organisatin Set up a 20x20yd grid with a series f small gates marked ut by cnes (see diagram).. Get the players int pairs with ne ball between tw. In their pairs player mve arund the grid passing the ball t their partner thrugh a gate in the fllwing manner: Prgressin Cach acts as defender and attempt t blck the gates Select 2 players t act as defenders Rll ball t pass, catch t receive Thrw t pass, Catch t receive Pass ball with inside f ft Make 5 cnsecutive passes 1v1 Tw Gal Numbers game Organisatin Set up a 15x20 small field and split players int 2 teams. Select players t act a galkeepers t prtect the gals Shting Game : Tunnel Shting Organisatin Set up a 20x20yd grid with 2 gals either end see diagram. Mark ut a path (Tunnel) with cnes as shwn in the diagram, split players int 2 grups and have each grup line up at the start f ne f the tunnels. On the caches cmmand players take it in turns t run dwn the tunnel, receive a pass frm the cach and sht n gal.
