Page11 DRESS REHEARSAL The Dress Rehearsal schedule begins Page 11 and tells you what time your child has to be at the Centennial Concert Hall on Thursday, June 11 th or Friday, June 12 th or Saturday June 13 th. Please read it carefully, and ensure that you are at the rehearsal with your child in costume and ready to go at the specified time. This will be the student's only opportunity to familiarize themselves with the stage and theatre. PLEASE NOTE: There are no classes at the Studio on any of the above dates. Please use the security door entrance (on Lily Street) at the back of the Concert Hall on dress rehearsal days only. Staff, students and class-chaperon parents are the only ones allowed into the stage area on dress rehearsal and show days. There is no admittance into the audience during dress rehearsal. This is a technical rehearsal only and we would have to charge admission to the Theatre in order to pay for its use on dress rehearsal days.../2
- 2 - Parents can either remain in the back door reception area during the dress rehearsal or drop their children off with their class chaperons and pick them up approximately 3/4 hour after their assigned dress rehearsal time. Please do not ask young children to wait outside for you. We will not be allowing young children to leave the theatre without their parent. We would also like to recommend that you bring some healthy food for those children that have to be at the Concert Hall for several hours, as there are no food concessions at the Concert Hall. SHOW TIMES The show schedules are on Page 9 and 10 for Sunday June 14 th at the Centennial Concert Hall. Please check to see which show(s) your child is performing in, as we divide the school into 3 shows. Each performer will receive a complimentary student pass for the show(s) they are performing in at their Dress Rehearsal. This means that you are not required to purchase a ticket for your child if they are performing in that show. On recital day everyone, including performing students, must enter the theatre through the front doors of the Concert Hall and meet their chaperons on the mezzanine. All students must be at the Concert Hall 30 minutes before show time on Sunday, June 14 th : i.e. Show #1 @ 9:30 AM - Arrive at Theatre at 9:00 AM Show #2 @ 2:15 PM - Arrive at Theatre at 1:45 PM Show #3 @ 7:00 PM - Arrive at Theatre at 6:30 PM CHAPERONS FREE ADMISSION Each year Moms and Dads very kindly act as volunteer Chaperons to supervise classes while they are waiting to perform. Seats are made available for the Chaperons to sit on the main floor in reserved seats during their own child's performance or they may watch from backstage. During the rest of the show chaperons will be required to sit in the balcony in their assigned seats with the class. NOTE: Chaperones of Storybook, Creative Dance & Prep Steps take these classes to meet their parents at Intermission on the Mezannine. Once all children have been picked up by their parents, the Chaperones are free to go. In order for chaperons to be prepared for the day of the performance we ask that they be in attendance at the Dress Rehearsal for their class. As well, we would appreciate your coming into the classroom to be introduced to the students at your convenience prior to the performance. All chaperons will receive FREE ADMISSION to the Concert Hall for that show. You will be sitting in the balcony with your class and you will receive your ticket from our staff at Dress Rehearsal. They will also give you your instructions at Dress Rehearsal which will give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the logistics and seating for your class. You will need to purchase tickets for the appropriate show; those being the morning performance at 9:30 AM, the afternoon performance at 2:15 PM, or the evening performance at 7:00 PM. As you can well imagine, scheduling for the recital was quite a project. Some children have been scheduled to appear in more than one show. Some families with siblings are also appearing in more than one show. This was unavoidable. Because of this, two complimentary tickets will be issued to families that this applies to for the second and/or third show. Complimentary tickets may be picked up by the entitled person only; they will not be released to friends or relatives. If you are eligible for complimentary tickets, you will be receiving a letter with a PASSWORD from Ticketmaster. To receive your complimentary tickets you will use your password when ordering over the internet or at the MTS Centre at 300 Portage Avenue. Please call or email the School if you have not received your letter by May 1 st or if you have any problems with your complimentary tickets, once tickets go on sale. ALL OTHER TICKET BUYERS: 1. - 5 - COSTUMES Some of you have already received costume letters detailing your child's costume requirements for the recital. The remainder of the costume letters will be distributed once those who are supplying them, have them ready. Please call/email the office or contact your teacher if you have any questions about your child s costume. Unless otherwise noted, the student's must wear their DRESS CODE as it is the base of the costume. So please ensure that they have the proper leotard, tights and shoes (with elastics sewn at the instep!). Girls: Primary to Gr1 Ballet - Sleeveless black tank-style leotard, pink tights with feet, pink pleated toe ballet slippers. Gr2 Ballet & Higher - Sleeveless black leotard, pink tights with feet, split sole ballet slippers or pointe shoes. Storybook, Creative Dance and Prep Steps - Long-sleeved pink leotard, pink tights with feet, pink pleated toe ballet slippers. Prep Steps have black tap shoes. Jazz and Musical Theatre - L1 to L2 Jazz & Jr MT - Sleeveless black tank-style leotard, black tights with feet and black leather split soles jazz shoes. Int MT & Higher; L3 Jazz Jazz & Higher - Sleeveless black leotard, black tights with feet, (optional solid black fitted jazz shorts), black leather split soles jazz shoes. Tap L1 Tap/Jazz & Jr2 Tap - Sleeveless black tank-style leotard, black tights with feet and tap shoes. Also, HAIR must be neatly tied up in a bun or similar style for all ballet classes. Jazz students must have hair tied back unless told otherwise by your teacher. Please remember that no jewellery, especially ear rings, are to be worn on stage. STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP Each student performing in the recital must meet their class and chaperon 30 minutes before show time on the mezzanine level (piano mobile) of the theatre. All students will sit with their class and chaperon in the balcony when they are not performing on stage, so that they may enjoy watching the show. The preschool students only (Storybook, Creative Dance and Prep Steps), will be returned to the mezzanine level at intermission for pick up by parents. At this time, you may either take them home if they are tired or bring them back to the audience with you if there are vacated seats. All other students will remain with chaperons until the end of the show at which time they will be returned to the mezzanine level for pick up by parents. It is imperative that all parents advise the chaperon when you are picking up your child. Please do not remove your child from the theatre without informing his or her chaperon.../6
- 6 - STUDENTS WITH COSTUME CHANGES DURING A SHOW Students needing to change costumes during the intermission of one show may have their parents meet them in the "Red Room" on the first balcony level (where children are sitting). All students needing to change quickly within either the first half or second half of one show will use the "Green Room" backstage, near the stage area. Parents who feel their child needs assistance changing during that half of the show, should meet their child backstage after their first dance and help them change in the "Green Room." The child will rejoin their next class when they come backstage for that dance. DVD s OF THE SHOWS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE Once again the shows will be professionally video taped and we will provide you with order forms with your registration package in June. You will be able to purchase either the entire show or the first or second half. As well, we will be using more close-up shots. Those of you who would like to video tape your child s performance yourself may do so from the back of the theatre during the performance or from your seated position as long as you do not obstruct the view of those around you during the show. CHILDREN S FITNESS TAX CREDIT We include your tax receipt for the period January 1, 2015 to June 14, 2015 in your Registration Package. Please make sure that you pick up your package anytime during office hours beginning Monday, June 15, 2015. We handed out the letter for the period June 16, 2014 to December 31, 2014 at the school in early 2015. If you did not receive it please check with the office. Please retain your copy of these receipts as there will be a $10.00 fee if you require us to provide you with another one. Please note your copy of the Student Contract each year must be retained for tax purposes.../7
- 7 - PHOTOGRAPHS McMaster's Photographers will be taking class and individual pictures at the Concert Hall during dress rehearsal for everyone except some of the Pre-school Classes and the Invitational Classes. Please see times below. McMASTER PHOTOGRAPHERS PACKAGES McMaster s will be offering a package which includes one 5x7 group photo, and four 4x6 individual photos for $17.00 (taxes included). No one is obligated to purchase the photographs but we ask that all students pose for the group picture so that everyone is in the class photo. Order forms will be distributed in advance at the Studio and we ask that you fill them out and drop off your order with payment, in the drop-off box provided in the Studio lobby. PICK UP McMaster's will be at the studio on the following days, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, to distribute photo packages: August 25, and 26 and September 1, 2, 8 and 9.
