Special mention to the winners - Mens O/70 s in the teams and Henry Michael and Alan Morcombe in the Individuals. More results are on page 3 in this newsletter. Next years Championships will be held on the Gold Coast. In late January we hosted the Vincent Cup which was a very close affair and is always high standard of tennis. Seniors came a close second to Leederville on the Day. Thanks to Laurence Upston for hosting the day, Kath, Carolyn and Moira for catering and Leon Dhu for organising the sets. We will be running our Winter Series of one day events again this year and details of the dates are printed further in the newsletter. A new addition this year is the Combined Aged Doubles day. Make sure you enter as it is a very good day which caters to all standards of players. Good news on our ITF WA State Championships in October which has been upgraded from an ITF 5 to level 3. This is a result of the success of last year s event which we hope to make even better this year. It is our goal to lift this event over time to an ITF 2. New Lease from City of Vincent - we were hoping to have this concluded by now but the City have requested further information on the level of community use and involvement of the facility. This is an increasing focus for the city and applies to all their leased facilities. They have indicated they should be in a position to relook at the matter in April. Given this we have had to put our negotiations over a new management agreement on hold. The current agreement with Tennis Central expires in August. New Office Bearers - I know you have heard this before but we need people to step forward to ensure the long term future of Seniors. At the AGM in July we will need a new President and Treasurer. Please consider if you can assist. Good tennis. Gavan Sullivan Australian Teams and Individual Championships, Gold Coast 2018 A designated website has been set up - www.tennisseniors.org.au/qld/q18 which will be updated on a regular basis with information.
