The Nittany Lions will compete in the team championships Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m. before going on to compete in the individual event finals Saturday, April 7 at 7 p.m. All sessions will be featured on the Big Ten Network. ROTATION ORDER The Nittany Lions will get the 2018 Big Ten Championships started on the still rings and move to the vault for the second rotation of the night. In rotation three, Penn State will compete on the parallel bars and start rotation four on the high bar. Finally, the Blue and White moves to the floor exercise for the fifth rotation and ends the Big Ten Championships on the pommel horse. NITTANY LIONS IN THE POSTSEASON IN ANN ARBOR This week s Big Ten Conference Championships at the University of Michigan will mark the sixth time in which Penn State has competed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the postseason. Most recently, Penn State competed for a NCAA Championship in the 2014 campaign finishing sixth. The Nittany Lions finished fifth at the Big Ten Championships in 2006 and fourth in 2005 at the home of the Wolverines. Finally, the Blue and White earned a runner-up finish in the 1998 season at the Big Ten Championships and placed 11th in the 1951 NCAA Championships hosted by Michigan.

Nebraska holds the slight four-score average advantage over Penn State to ranks sixth overall and the Nittany Lions rank seventh nationally. Nebraska carries the top spot nationally on the floor exercise, the pommel horse and the vault, while Ohio State ranks first on the still rings. Individually, Shane Wiskus of Minnesota leads the nation on the floor exercise, Alec Yoder of Ohio State, Brandon Ngai of Illinois and Stephen Nedoroscik hold the top-three spots on the pommel horse, respectively, and Anton Stephenson of Nebraska ranks first in the nation on the vault. A LOOK BACK AT THE 2017 CHAMPIONSHIPS The Penn State men s gymnastics team placed fourth at the 2017 Big Ten Championships, scoring a 411.200 Friday, April 7 at the State Farm Center. Ohio State captured its second-straight Big Ten title scoring a 418.600 behind a first-place allaround finish from Sean Melton, while Illinois placed second overall with a 416.400. The Golden Gophers of Minnesota rounded out the top three with a 413.300 and Penn State came in fourth overall with its 411.200. Nebraska, Iowa and Michigan closed out the Big Ten Championships with 410.000, 402.150 and 401.250, respectively. Wyatt Tyndall notched a podium finish in his first Big Ten Championship Individual Event Finals on the floor exercise Saturday, April 8 at Illinois. Overall, Penn State had six gymnasts compete in the individual event finals with Tyndall competing in a team-best two events. Tyndall earned a podium finish on the floor exercise, placing third overall with a 14.425 in the event. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native rounded out the championships with an appearance on the parallel bars. PENN STATE VS. THE BIG TEN IN 2018 > vs. Illinois - Penn State had a setback to the Fighting Illini in its first Big Ten Conference meet of the season, falling 412.500-405.900. Sophomore Sam Zakutney paced the field with victories on both the parallel bars and in the all-around. > at Ohio State - The Nittany Lions earned the victory with the second-highest score in the nation, notching a 417.400 seeing individual event victories from Joshua Smith on the floor and Sam Zakutney on the parallel bars. > vs. Minnesota - In a meet that came down to the final rotation, it was the Golden Gophers who earned the 404.350-402.400 edge over Penn State. The Blue and White saw three event victories with Chris Sands capturing the still rings title, Joshua Smith sharing the vault win, and Michael Burns sharing the high bar victory. > at Iowa - The Hawkeyes earned the win over Penn State in the tri-meet with Chris Sands notching his second win of the year with a 14.300 on the floor exercise and Wyatt Tyndall coming away with the parallel bars title. > vs. Nebraska - The Nittany Lions fell to No. 2 Nebraska in its final home meet of the season. Coming back from injury, Sam Zakutney earned two victories with wins on the parallel bars and high bar, while Stephen Nedoroscik notched the pommel horse win. > at Michigan - Penn State came away with the victory after it coming down to the final rotation of the day, scoring a 407.350. The Nittany Lions had four event victors in Stephen Nedoroscik (pommel horse), Sam Zakutney (parallel bars), Wyatt Tyndall (high bar) and Sam Zakutney (high bar)

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports, who have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Penn State s honorees included: Brayden Borromeo, Michael Burns, Colin Coates, Benjamin Cooperman, Stephen Nedoroscik, Noah Roberson, Chris Sands, Greg Tamargo, Alex Thomason, Wyatt Tyndall, and Sam Zakutney. PENN STATE WINS IN FINAL ROTATION AT MICHIGAN The Penn State men s gymnastics team used a last rotation comeback to secure a 407.350-405.050 victory over Michigan in its final regular season meet Saturday, March 24 at Cliff Keen Arena. The Nittany Lions earned four event victories with Sam Zakutney taking the win on both the parallel bars and the high bar for the second-straight meet. ZAKUTNEY ROARS BACK AGAINST NEBRASKA Working his way back from injury, Sam Zakutney captured his fourth parallel bars title of the 2018 season against Nebraska, scoring a 14.600. Zakutney capped off the meet with his second win of the day, scoring a 13.600 to tie for first on the high bar with Nebraska s Jake Bonnay. PANTAZIS CONTINUES TO BE STEADY Freshman Brennan Pantazis earned a podium finish on the parallel bars against Nebraska, placing third overall with a 13.900, while finishing seventh on the vault and ninth on the floor. The podium finish on the parallel bars marked the 13th time this season in which he has finished in the top three for the Nittany Lions as he has picked up at least one podium finish on five events. ROBERSON TAKES SEASON-HIGH SCORE ON STILL RINGS Junior Noah Roberson notched his third still rings title of the 2018 season against Nebraska, scoring a team-best 14.400. The score was just.300 shy of his career-high of 14.700 and vaulted him into the top spot on the still rings for Penn State. Roberson currently ranks fifth nationally with a season-average of 13.925 and a NQA of 14.183. SANDS IS VICTORIOUS FOR THIRD-STRAIGHT WEEK Junior Chris Sands picked up his third-straight victory in as many weeks, placing first on the floor exercise with a 14.200 at Arizona State. The win marks the third of the season for Sands as he also notched a victory on the floor exercise at Iowa with a 14.300 and on the still rings against Minnesota. The Lancaster, Pa. native also earned a top-five finish on the still rings, scoring a 13.750. NITTANY LIONS EARN THREE INDIVIDUAL VICTORIES AT IOWA Despite finishing second at the tri-meet at Iowa with Arizona State, the Penn State men s gymnastics team picked up three individual event victories at the meet. Junior Chris Sands earned a victory for the second-straight week with the win on floor exercise, while Noah Roberson notched a win on the still rings and Wyatt Tyndall placed first on the parallel bars for the Blue and White.

The win marks the second of the season for Roberson as he notched the event victory in the team portion of the West Point Open. Roberson has also garnered two second-place finishes this season on the still rings. TYNDALL GRABS VICTORY ON PARALLEL BARS Junior Wyatt Tyndall secured the win on the parallel bars after earning four podium finishes prior to the meet at Iowa. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native scored a 14.200 on the parallel bars and added his second win of the season as he placed first on the floor exercise in the team portion of the West Point Open. SMITH EARNS SECOND VICTORY OF 2018 Junior Joshua Smith has risen to the top of the list of competitors for Penn State on the floor exercise and the vault. In his second week of competition of the 2018 season, Smith notched his first victory of the season with a 14.650 on the floor exercise, while placing second on the vault. After a week away from the floor, Smith came back to win the vault with a season and team-best 14.600 to notch his second event victory of the season for the Blue and White. SANDS CONTINUES TO IMPROVE Junior Chris Sands has been continuing to improve on his still rings routines week in and week out and it has paid off for the Lancaster, Pennsylvania native as he earnned his first victory of the season against Minnesota. As the second competitor for the Nittany Lions against the Golden Gophers, Sands scored a season-best 14.200 to earn his first event victory of the season on the still rings. PENN STATE PUTS UP STRONG TEAM PERFORMANCE ON VAULT The Nittany Lions used the lineup of Wyatt Tyndall, Brayden Borromeo, Quest Hayden, Brennan Pantazis, and Joshua Smith to record their season-high score of 71.050 and put it slightly ahead of the Golden Gophers after four rotations in the meet. Penn State would eventually fall to Minnesota, but Borromeo posted a career-best 14.300 on the vault, while Smith notched a season-best 14.600 in the event victory. NEDOROSCIK PLACES FOURTH AT WINTER CUP Sophomore Stephen Nedoroscik had a strong showing at the Winter Cup after qualifying for the event finals on the pommel horse Saturday, Feb. 17. Nedoroscik was just one place out of the top-three, notching a fourth-place finish on the pommel horse. The sophomore pommel horse specialist scored a 13.900 in his first round before earning a 14.800 in the second. WINTER CUP HIGHLIGHTS The Penn State men s gymnastics team had two participants in the 2018 Winter Cup with sophomore Stephen Nedoroscik qualifying for the finals on the pommel horse and Brennan Pantazis competing in the all-around.the two made their first appearances in the competition after Nedoroscik qualified at the US Championships and Pantazis qualified following the West Point Open. Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.) competed on the pommel horse, scoring a 13.900 overall to place ninth overall and earn his spot in the finals. Pantazis returned to his home state for the first time in his collegiate career to compete in the all-around at the Winter Cup. The freshman scored a 74.500 in the all-around, placing 24th overall, while scoring a 13.500 on the vault to tie for 21st overall.

6 2018 PENN STATE MEN S GYMNASTICS MEET 10: NEWS & NOTES MGYM WINS SECOND-STRAIGHT THON PEP RALLY The Penn State men s gymnastics team won its second-straight THON pep rally after competing against other Penn State athletic teams. Since 1977, THON has partnered with The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children s Hospital with one goal in mind: conquering childhood cancer. To date, more than $136 million has been raised by THON, including more than $10 million in 2016-18, and at least 95 percent of the funds raised at THON are donated directly to Four Diamonds. PENN STATE POSTS SECOND-BEST SCORE NATIONALLY The Penn State men s gymnastics team picked up its first Big Ten Conference win of the season with a season-best 417.400 at Ohio State Friday, Feb. 9. The Buckeyes scored a 414.900 in the meet to fall in their third Big Ten meet of the season. Penn State s score of 417.400 ranked second nationally to only three-straight NCAA Champion Oklahoma, who scored a 418.000 this season. The Nittany Lions bested their season-best scores on four out of six events including: floor exercise (70.950), pommel horse (69.200), still rings (69.950), and high bar (67.500). Furthermore, the Blue and White had five career bests on the day with two event victories. ZAKUTNEY COMPETES AT ELITE CANADA MEET With Penn State having a bye week, it gave sophomore Sam Zakutney an opportunity to head to Quebec, Canada to compete in 2018 Elite Canada. Elite Canada is the equivalent of the Winter Cup for American gymnasts. Zakutney competed in the all-around, placing fourth overall with a 75.134. The Ottawa, Ontario native also tied for fourth on the floor exercise with a 13.300 and placed seventh on both the vault and high bar. PENN STATE FALLS IN FIRST B1G DUAL Despite putting up season-best scores on the floor exercise (70.800) and parallel bars (69.850), the Nittany Lions were unable to come away with a victory over the Fighting Illini in their first Big Ten Conference home meet of the 2018 season. Illinois won all but two events as sophomore Sam Zakutney picked up two event victories with a win on the parallel bars and in the all-around. ZAKUTNEY NOTCHES BIG TEN GYMNAST OF THE WEEK HONORS Sophomore Sam Zakutney earned his second Big Ten Conference honor of the 2018 season as he was named Big Ten Gymnast of the week as announced by the conference office Monday, Jan. 29. Zakutney notched conference honors for the seventh time in his career as he was a four-time Freshman of the Week honoree and the 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year award winner as well as earning Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors twice in 2018. Furthermore, a Penn State gymnast has earned a conference honor all three weeks of the 2018 season as it has had two freshmen of the week and two gymnasts of the week honors. Zakutney was the only gymnast to compete on all six events against Illinois, earning his second all-around score of 80-or-higher. The sophomore all-arounder scored an 80.700 to earn his second all-around title of the season, while also taking home the parallel bars title with a 14.450. Zakutney also placed second on the high bar for the Blue and White. NITTANY LIONS DOMINATE IN FIRST HOME MEET Behind five event victors and an all-around winner, the Penn State men s gymnastics team secured its first home victory of the 2018 season with a 407.600-384.100 win over Army West Point. The Nittany Lions bested their team score, while posting season-bests on the pommel horse (67.850), and the still rings (68.550). The Blue and White also took home five event titles as well as the all-around title as sophomore Stephen Nedoroscik notched the pommel horse title, Greg Tamargo captured both the still rings and vault titles, freshman Brennan Pantazis earned the parallel bars and all-around wins, and freshman Alex Frack picked up the high bar win. Penn State saw eight career-highs on the day with Frack besting all his scores from the West Point Open and earning his first collegiate title. FRACK NOTCHES B1G FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK HONORS Freshman Alex Frack was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday, Jan. 22. The honor marks the first of his career and the second-straight week in which Penn State has won the award as Brennan Pantazis garnered it a week ago. Frack notched three podium finishes in his first collegiate home meet, including one event victory. The Nazareth, Pennsylvania native placed third on the pommel horse, scoring a 13.550 and third on the parallel bars with a 13.650. Frack capped off the meet with one final victory for the Blue and White, notching a 13.700 on the high bar for his first collegiate win. The freshman bested all his scores from a week prior at the West Point Open.

MEET 10: NEWS & NOTES TAMARGO HAS BIG SHOWING AGAINST ARMY Junior Greg Tamargo led the Nittany Lions in their first home meet of the season, securing three podium finishes on the afternoon. The Kennett Square, Pa. native started the meet with a second-place finish on the floor exercise before going on to take the title in both the still rings and the vault. Tamargo scored a 14.150 on the still rings and a 14.000 on the vault in his wins, earning him the Gene Wettstone award for the meet. PENN STATE CAPTURES FIFTH-STRAIGHT WEST POINT OPEN TITLE The Penn State men s gymnastics team captured its fifthstraight and 20th overall West Point Open title, scoring a 406.850 in the 27th Annual West Point Open at the Gross Center Friday, January 12. Navy placed second overall with a 395.050, while Army came in third with a 380.350 and William and Mary notched a fourth-place finish with a 378.300. Springfield and Temple rounded out the meet with 369.250 and 223.050, respectively. The Nittany Lions earned the team win on five-of-six events, scoring a 69.200 on the floor and a 66.850 on the pommel horse. The Blue and White also captured the event victory on the still rings with a 65.600, while placing second on the vault with a 70.500. Finally, Penn State notched event wins on the parallel bars with a 67.850 and the high bar with a 66.850. The Blue and White also swept all six event titles with victories from Sam Zakutney (vault & parallel bars), Wyatt Tyndall (floor exercise), Michael Burns (high bar), Stephen Nedoroscik (pommel horse) and Noah Roberson (still rings). BLUE AND WHITE TAKE HOME FOUR EVENT TITLES The Penn State men s gymnastics team took home four individual event victories, including sweeping the top three spots on the parallel bars in the individual event finals of the West Point Open. Freshman Brennan Pantazis made his mark in his first weekend donning the Blue and White at the West Point Open, capturing the individual event titles on the floor exercise with a 14.250 and on the parallel bars with a 13.900. Junior Michael Burns continued to dominate the high bar at the West Point Open, capturing his third-straight title at the event with a 13.550. The Nittany Lions saw their first victor of the evening in Pantazis on the floor exercise before sophomore Stephen Nedoroscik notched his first pommel horse title of the 2018 season, earning a career-high 15.000. The freshman notched a 14.250 on the floor exercise and a 13.900 on the parallel bars in his finals debut. Pantazis placed himself in the finals after earning a second-place finish in the team portion of the event on the floor exercise and tying for fourth on the parallel bars. The Sparks, Nevada native also placed second in the all-around in his first collegiate meet. ZAKUTNEY PICKS UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF LAST SEASON Sophomore Sam Zakutney led the Nittany Lions to a win at the 27th annual West Point Open. The Ottawa, Ontario native won three events in the team finals, with victories on the vault, parallel bars and in the all-around. Zakutney also placed third on the high bar and fourth on the floor. NEDOROSCIK BESTS CAREER SCORE ON POMMEL HORSE Sophomore Stephen Nedoroscik kicked off the season scoring a 14.800 on the pommel horse in the team finals before going on to post a career-high 15.000 in the individual finals. Nedoroscik bested the 14.900 he earned last season when he became the NCAA Pommel Horse National Champion.

8 2018 PENN STATE MEN S GYMNASTICS MEET 10: NEWS & NOTES NITTANY LIONS PICKED FIFTH IN BIG TEN PRESEASON POLL The Penn State men s gymnastics team was picked fifth in the 2018 Big Ten Men s Gymnastics Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the conference office Thursday, Dec. 14. Along with the preseason coaches poll, sophomores Stephen Nedoroscik and Sam Zakutney were named to the Gymnast to Watch List for the upcoming season. For the fourth-straight season, Ohio State grabbed the top spot in the Big Ten Poll, while Minnesota and Illinois rounded out the top three places for the second-straight season. Nebraska came in as the number four preseason team in the conference with Penn State, Iowa and Michigan rounding out Big Ten Men s Gymnastics Preseason Coaches Poll. PENN STATE COMES IN SEVENTH IN THE CGA PRESEA- SON COACHES POLL The Penn State men s gymnastics team enters the 2018 campaign ranked seventh in the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Preseason Coaches Poll as announced Tuesday, Nov. 19. Oklahoma was picked to finish first in the nation for the fourth-straight season with 14 first-place votes, while Stanford was picked to finish second with one first-place vote and Ohio State was projected to round out the top three with two first-place votes. Minnesota, Illinois and Nebraska ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively with Penn State coming in as the No. 7 team to start the 2018 season. JEPSON KICKS OFF 27TH SEASON AT THE HELM OF MEN S GYMNASTICS The 2018 campaign marks the 27th season for head coach Randy Jepson as the program leader of the Nittany Lions. Jepson came to Penn State in 1982 as a senior gymnast, earning All-America honors on the rings and being a Nissen-Emery Award nominee. From there, he went on to be the graduate assistant for two seasons before becoming an assistant coach from 1985-1991. In 1992, Jepson served as the acting head coach and was promoted to head coach in 1993 and since has led the Nittany Lions to three national championships and three Big Ten titles. Jepson has been the National Coach of the Year on three occasions (2000, 2004 and 2007) and garnered the prestigious CGA Honor Coach Award in 2011, which is given to the coaches who have 25 years of service or more to the sport of gymnastics. Additionally, Jepson is a two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year honoree and has coached 45 All-Americans on 103 occasions, 30 First Team All-Big Ten selection and 12 NCAA Individual Event Champions. 11 NITTANY LIONS COLLECT CGA ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE HONORS Eleven Penn State men s gymnastics student-athletes earned College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Academic All-American Scholar-Athlete honors, while the 2017 team ranked in the top 10 with a 3.284 team grade point average in the 2016-17 academic year. Eight Nittany Lions earned first team All-American Scholar-Athlete honors with redshirt-sophomore Noah Roberson leading the way with a 4.0 grade point average. Roberson was the 2017 Elite 90 recipient for men s gymnastics as a double major in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering. Also earning first team honors for the Blue and White were Chris Sands (3.99-3.90 GPA), Wyatt Tyndall (3.89-3.80), Brayden Borromeo (3.799-3.70), Michael Burns (3.799-3.70), Alex Thomason (3.79-3.70), Benjamin Cooperman (3.699-3.60) and Franz Card (3.599-3.50). Along with the seven first team honorees, three Nittany Lions notched second team honors, including Joseph Boyle (3.399-3.30), Dominic DiFulvio (3.399-3.30) and Stephen Nedoroscik (3.299-3.20). As a team, Penn State ranked fifth in the nation with a 3.284 team grade point average, while Big Ten foe Nebraska led the way with a 3.505 team GPA. Since the inception of the award in 1991, the Nittany Lions have received 76 first team All-American Scholar-Athlete honors and 46 second team All-American Scholar-Athlete honors. Penn State s 76 first team honorees rank 13th all-time amongst NCAA gymnastics teams. NEXT UP The Nittany Lions will take a week off of competition in preparation for the 2018 NCAA Championships, hosted in Chicago, Illinois April 20-April 21. The team will compete in the qualifier Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. and finish the team finals as well as the individual event finals Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m.
