Last Game Sam Gaviglio struck out seven in five innings and Ryan Ortiz and Adalberto Santos both drove in two runs in the Beavers 5-1 victory at Portland on Tuesday. Gaviglio scattered three hits and a run to improve to 7-1 this season. Ortiz drove in two with a single in the fifth while both of Santos RBI came on fielder s choice plays. The Beavers have now won six straight over the Pilots and five in-a-row at Portland. Flashback To 2007 When Washington and Oregon State last met at Safeco Field in 2007, the teams drew 10,421, which was then a Pac-10 record for a league game. That has since been broken by the 15,540 that saw Oregon State and Oregon play at PGE Park on March 28. On TV Oregon State is 2-0 on TV this season, with both of those games against Oregon. Oregon State is tied for third and Washington is in fifth, just a game behind the Beavers. Oregon State is looking to win the first game of a Pac-10 series for the first time since April 9. OSU had won series openers against Oregon, Cal and Arizona. It has since lost series openers to USC, UCLA and Arizona State. Oregon State last swept Washington in 2005. The Huskies have not swept Oregon State since the Pac-10 merged prior to the 1999 season. The 221 wins for OSU over Washington all-time is the most against any opponent.
