In 2010, WABL had T-Ball for he firs ime in our hisory. Wha a huge success i was - no only for WABL, bu for he 150+ boys and girls ha paricipaed. Thank you o T-Ball commissioners Kevin Floyd and Jim Weber, along wih all of he coaches and parens who helped make our firs season of T-Ball so successful. WABL also launched a new websie. Also in 2010, WABL inroduced he Wes Akron Americans, our ournamen eams. Like anyhing new, here were some bumps along he way and i was a learning process. We are commied o his program and we will coninue o work hard o make he necessary improvemens and provide our boys wih his grea opporuniy. WABL Day wih he Akron Aeros is an enjoyable even ha provides hose who aend a chance o see he Aeros play and hang ou wih our WABL players and heir families. We provide 3 ickes for each player in he league. There are special evens provided for our players, he bigges of which is a parade around Canal Park prior o he game. WABL has a similar ouing for our Girls Sofball program, where we aend an Akron Racers game and provide hree ickes for each of our sofball players. There is also he annual golf ouing/scramble: 18 holes of golf, fun and prizes. Lasly, I appreciae any feedback, even if i isn always posiive. V.P. of BOYS Baseball Repor Afer a few years as a par of his organizaion, I am sill amazed a how he Wes Akron Baseball and Sofball League can susain iself.the firs concern is always ha we won have as many kids as we did he previous year - bu when all is said and done, we usually mach or exceed he prior year s paricipaion. The nex area of panic is wheher we will have enough coaches for all of our eams. There have been many imes ha i has come down o he wire - or even a lile pas he wire - bu someone has always sepped up and aken he reigns. I guess ha s wha you ge in an organizaion driven by voluneers such as ours. I have no lived my whole life in Wes Akron; only abou 15 years acually, bu I am proud o call i my home and WABL represens jus a par of ha pride: From he grea kids we have coming ou o play ball, o heir parens who coach and cheer hem, and o he communiy businesses and leaders ha suppor us in oo many ways o menion, we have an ousanding communiy ha loves heir youh baseball. There were a oal of 10 eams ha compeed in a single division his season. Afer a grea regular season, wih igh compeiion down o he wire, he op four eams going ino he playoffs were he CP & Sons Cubs, he Leading Edge A s, he Logisics Conceps Indians, and he Jim Laria Clerk of Cours Phillies. The playoffs were exciing, wih some grea plays and close games. When i all played ou, he Cubs me he A s in a hard fough game a Perkins Field. In he end i was he Cubs ha claimed he 2010 H-League Championship on he Day of Champs! I would like o ake his opporuniy o hank all of our sponsors. F-League Repor The F-League 2010 season was a grea success. Growing from 2 eams in 2009 o 4 eams in 2010 here were some challenges. Wih neiher of he coaches able o reurn from 2009, we had 4 firs-year coaches ha all did a remarkable job! Special hanks o managers Corey Munnel (PIRATES), Ted Waler (INDIANS), John Galonski (REDS), and Joe Burgess (AEROS) for voluneering heir ime and energy. F-League compees in he CBL wih eams from Copley, Revere, Highland and Noron. This offers a grea opporuniy for he kids o play agains heir peers from neighboring communiies. For he firs ime, WABL had a eam make i o he CBL Championship game! The WABL Indians played a very compeiive game agains Highland bu los in he end 4-2. WABL also held is own Championship game where he 2nd seeded Piraes were 3 ous away from upseing he 1s seeded Indians. The Indians rallied o win in he end boh eams lef i all on he field and enerained he crowd wih a game ha boh players and fans alike are sure o remember. All 4 eams had some grea highlighs hanks o players and parens for a grea season! 2011 looks o add more F league eams and o be anoher fanasic year! The coaches in our league do a grea job of bringing his all ogeher in a fun environmen ha mixes basic baseball fundamenals wih eam awareness. Our I-League season ended wih a series of games jus for he 8-year-olds moving up o H-league nex year, in which hey played real baseball rules wih players piching, srike couns, ous and scores. We ve seen ha his posseason helps he players develop for he nex sep, i is now a regular par of our schedule.
