Greetings from the Beaver Lake Library! For those of you new to BLMS, my name is Amber Peterson and I have been the teacher-librarian here for the last 7 years. I grew up in Seattle, am a UW graduate and have lived on the Eastside for the last 20 years. My job as a teacher-librarian is amazing! I get to talk about books and recommend that just right book for our students. I also get to teach classes about using online information resources and sponsor events like the Hour of Code in December. It is a privilege to work with your students we have real readers here at BLMS! The PTSA Scholastic Book Fair will be November 6-9 this year. Please put this on your calendars! The Book Fair is a great opportunity for your student to purchase some quality books. You are welcome to come at lunch or during the before and after school hours that the book fair is open to shop with your students. All proceeds from the fair go to promote literacy at BLMS. Last year, we used Scholastic Dollars to purchase 4-7 books for each LA teacher plus one book about the US Presidents for each of the 8th grade SS teachers. I also got new books for our LRC II students and added nine books to the library general collection. Please contact me if you have any questions about library programming! You can also follow the BLMS library on Instagram (BLMS_Librarian) or Twitter (@BLMSLIbrarian) for the Bookstagram of the Week. Amber Peterson BLMS Teacher-Librarian petersona@issaquah.wednet.edu Do you want to help but need flexible hours? OR Do you like to give your opinion? OR Do you want to plan a new fun, family event? We have a position for you: Matching Funds Coordinator The Matching Funds Coordinator tracks match payments for donations made to the PTSA. This position is the main contact for the Employers who send match payments and ensures Beaver Lake PTSA is properly registered with the vendors who manage the matching programs. You can do this job on your schedule from the comfort of your home and has a huge impact for BLMS PTSA. Legislative Representatives Represent BLMS PSTA at the Legislative Assembly. This vote sets the association's focus and direction with regards to our legislative priorities for the coming two years. Grab a friend or two and go represent us! Trivia Night We are very excited to hold our first ever BLMS Family Trivia Night. Sign up for the committee to help plan this fun social event for the whole family. Or grab a friend and co-chair! To sign up, click Here or email volunteers@beaverlakeptsa.org Bulldog 22 Bytes November 2017
