We unfortunately need to again; close our food service here at the lodge as of January 1st, 2016. High energy costs and the lack of member participation has forced this on us. We simply can't continue to have a program or service that continues to draw down our cash reserves. Are we closing? NO we are not. So those of you that are continually complaining, spreading rumors and gossip in the lodge please stop it now, you're a cancer and are not needed here. We will survive. If you want to know what's going on, show up at a membership meeting and voice your opinion there. That's where the true is told, not in the Social Quarters. How did we get to this point in our lodge? Way to many of us have forgotten what the Moose stands for and why we are here. We are a fraternal unit that raises monies for Mooseheart, Moosehaven and many other worthy charities in our community and nationwide. Too many of us are here looking to get SOMETHING from the Moose. Too many times I've heard what do I personally get for my dues? Instead of what and who are my dues helping out. In reality our part of the dues from all our members barely covers three months of utility bills. The rest helps out Mooseheart and Moosehaven. We have a very large facility with a very high operating cost. Hopefully some of you are now asking what can I do to help the lodge out. It's very simple, stop complaining and participate! Come down and have your favorite adult beverage or soda at least once a week; and please have some fun! Yes, this can be cured with a good time. The board of officers have implemented a program to start out the New Year with a ton of activities for the next two months. Movie nights for the kids, money raffles for the adults, dinner dances, bus trips, fun activities on every Saturday night, and music on every Friday night, either a band or a DJ. This will continue throughout the upcoming year. Hopefully there is something we have planned that you will want to participate in. But if there isn't, our doors are always open to suggestions and new ideas. Once our cash flow improves, we then can start offering more services for our members, but we can't do it without your help. We need you to participate and have a good time. Help us make your time at the lodge fun and enriching. Hopefully you will have so much fun that you will invite your friends; start volunteering; and have more fun so we can get back to helping out our local community and our Moose community. We can have a very bright future here with your help, so let's get started today. Hope to see you here at the lodge very soon. Fraternally Yours, Rich Smart, Administrator

2 NEWS FROM YOUR GOVERNOR Well here it is New Year and the old year is gone. For some people 2015 was a good year but for others it was not so good. I am hoping the year 2016 is a good year for all. We had our first Sunday morning breakfast after some time off and we were a little rusty on getting the food out. We were shorthanded on help and it showed. If anyone would like to volunteer to help out on Sunday s breakfast, please contact your Governor, me. Our next Sunday morning breakfast will be January 3 rd, 2016. We also need volunteers for door greeters on Friday nights. The shift is two segments; the first is from 4:30 pm till 7:00 pm and the second is from 7:00 pm till 9:30 pm. This a good way to meet your fellow moose members and who knows you may have one of your long lost friends come in. On January 2 nd we will be having a Night at the Races, on the 9 th and 23 rd is our competition for qualifying for the state and International karaoke contest. You will have a chance to win the International top prize of $5,000 if you re lucky enough to win the whole thing. On January 16 th the lodge is having three $500 drawings. There will be music and lots of great fun to be had by all. You must be present to win. On January 30 th we will be having beer / booze / bingo night. So you see we have a lot going on in the month of January, so come on in and have some fun. Your Governor, Joe McKay Come On Down To Your Lodge And Have Some Great Fun! ROBERT DALE SCHOLARSHIP The R. Robert Dale Scholarship season is open now through June 30th 2016 to high school Class of 2017 students from Moose families. Lodge and/or Chapter members who are grandparents, fathers, mothers or guardians, of a high school junior should be alerted to this student's one-time chance to win a $1,000 R. Robert Dale Scholarship from Moose International. If the student has a grade point average of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (a C+ average or higher), his or her name can be in the R. Robert Dale Scholarship drawing at Moose Association Conventions from July through October. The Class of 2017 applications must be postmarked no later than June 30th 2016. THERE ARE NO EXTENSION DATES. Winners are notified by October 28, 2016. Easy-to-complete application forms are available from the Lodge Administrator or Chapter Recorder who will also confirm the good-standing membership of the parent(s) or guardian(s). If both parents are members, a student may apply through one or both of them, but only one eligible application per student is submitted. When the student and school counselor have filled in the remaining information, the application is ready for mailing to Moose Charities or faxed. We want to find all juniors eligible through our Lodge or Chapter. The more who apply from a given Lodge or Chapter, the better the chance for any one of them to win our Association drawing. In fact, if a Lodge or Chapter sends in a combined total of 25 or more eligible names, they can hold an R. Robert Dale drawing from just among those applicants, right in their own Lodge after the Association drawing. For more information, read the scholarship article in your February/March/April 2016 Moose Magazine or contact Moose Charities, R. Robert Dale Scholarship Coordinator. Thank you for your cooperation.

I would like to say thank you to all of our volunteers. Thank you for volunteering every week. It would be really nice to see some new volunteers. The same volunteers every week.
