Special thanks to Hein and Suzy Gilmore for very generously sponsoring the wonderful hampers that were awarded to the various prize winners. Prize categories & winners: Prize categories and winners: Most Time Trial wins in a K2 with 23 wins. Darren Berry and Mark Collins. Most wins in a K1 with 6 wins.. Daneel Van Wyk Fastest Time Trial of the year: with a time of 41min 14 seconds the winners of the fastest K2 this year are...martin Fraser and Chloë Bunnett Fastest Time Trial for the year in a K1: Graham Bird with a time of 42min 11sec. Attendance. This is sometimes more important than the fastest time. It shows who is the most committed to their sport, out of the 50 Tuesday evenings to date, the best attendance winner went to..ron Godfrey who attended 46 out of the possible 50 time trials. Our international paddler of the year, with her top 5 finish in the ocean racing European championship and representing Spain, With her partner Haley Dixon came 1st at the Pete Marlin race in East London a few weeks ago, these are just some of her accomplishments for the year, Our international paddler of the year was Chloe Bunnett The most improved paddler of the year. This one was quite unanimous, this paddler only started paddling at the beginning of the year, (His 1st Time Trial was the 6th of February)...has the second highest attendance at time trials, in his first year has done both the Breede and the Fish River marathon...his technique still needs a bit of work but this year goes to the most improved paddler went to Jerome Starkey The next category was a tough one for the judges to decide on a winner, This is the most promiscuous paddler. The paddler who can t decide who they want partner with. There were 2 clear nominees for this category, Christina Collins was the one but the clear winner with 9 different partners in a single year, both male and female; Ian Hanton. The Michael Phelps award or the most memorable swim award to Jerome Starkey and Ron Godfrey for their swim during the final time trial of the season. Late to the start Dave Gorven for arriving late and hold up the start for the final time trial of the season Knysna Yacht Club Newsletter January 2019 Page 3
