Race 7: Blacktown Workers Benchmark 65 Handicap 1100m Off Broadway stable representative Mr D Beadman reported the filly would leave the stable. ROYAL RANDWICK Saturday 7 March 2015 Race 2: UNSW Todman Stakes (Group 2) 1200m Headwater co-trainer Mr M Hawkes reported the colt had pulled up well and a thorough veterinary examination revealed no issues. He stated that Headwater will gallop next Tuesday, 17 March 2015, whereby a decision will be made as to the colt's immediate future plans. Race 5: Aspiration Quality (Group 3) 1600m Solicit a full veterinary examination, including the results of a scope and blood profile, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr G Ryan indicated he will remove the blinkers and trial the mare next week at Rosehill. Mardi stable representative Mr M Newnham reported the mare had pulled up well and would have a short freshen up. Lorna May co-trainer Mr M Hawkes advised that mare had pulled up well following its disappointing run. Race 1: Hyland Race Colours Challenge Stakes (Group 2) 1000m Villa Verde stable representative Mr E Cummings reported that the mare was a little scratchy in front subsequent to the race, but otherwise fine. He undertook to produce a veterinary clearance prior to the mare racing again.
2 BROADMEADOW Saturday 7 March 2015 Race 5: Cooks Hill Surf Club Gallipoli 100 Benchmark 60 Handicap 1600m Ireland's Teardrop trainer Mr A Cummings reported that the mare, which raced disappointingly has been retired. RACE 1: TAB.COM.AU Handicap 1100m Puzzling Wonder hampered at the start when Mrs Kennedy jumped inwards. Rider C Reith stated his mount was inclined to overrace and hang throughout the middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Kind Heart fractious in the barriers. Accused raced greenly in the early and middle stages and approaching the 600m had to be steadied away from the heels of Puzzling Wonder (C Reith), which shifted in. C Reith was advised to exercise care. Briefly held up for some distance approaching the 300m This Is Australia rider J Cassidy stated his mount was fractious in the barriers and raced ungenerously throughout. He added that the colt was inclined to hang in in the straight and near the 100m, when weakening and racing to the inside of Accused, became unbalanced. RACE 2: Schweppes Handicap 1100m Dawnie Perfect slow to begin. Approaching the 200m had to alter course to the inside of Lauren's Magic, which shifted out under pressure. Devil Hawk slow to begin. When questioned regarding his riding from the 600m and as to whether there was an opportunity to follow the eventual winner, Cartier Rock, through at the top of the straight, T Angland stated his instructions, from his wide barrier, were to ride the colt back in the field and cross to the fence to allow it an opportunity to finish the race off. He said that he attempted a narrow run between Run Louie Run and Local Affair on straightening, however, that run closed when Run Louie Run shifted out. T Angland added he then followed the favourite, Mitigate, through, however, when that runner weakened from the 300m and when he was awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of Local Affair, he became badly held up and it was not until inside the 100m that he was obliged to shift to the outside of Local Affair to continue into clear running, whereby his mount ran home well. The Stewards agreed with T Angland that in retrospect he had erred in persisting for a run to the inside of Local Affair when it was reasonable for him to shift to the outside of that runner and follow the eventual winner, Cartier Rock, shortly after straightening. Lauren's Magic jumped awkwardly and shifted out, hampering Navua Mist. Had to be steadied at the 700m and was taken in slightly when Mitigate (J McDonald) shifted in when not quite clear. J McDonald was told to be fully clear when shifting ground so as to ensure he leaves sufficient room for runners to his inside. Snitzel's Goddess bumped heavily on jumping and became unbalanced when contacted on the hindquarter by Local Affair. bumped rounding the home turn near the 500 when Cartier Rock improved into a narrow run between Local Affair and Snitzel's Goddess.
3 Run Louie Run tightened for room at the 700m when overracing. Rider C Reith stated his mount overraced throughout, racing in blinkers for the first time. He added this was the principal reason why his mount, which was resuming today, did not finish the race off. A postrace veterinary examination revealed Local Affair tightened for room near the 700m and was buffeted for some distance between Run Louie Run and Lauren's Magic. Cartier Rock near the 600m had to be steadied away from the heels of Local Affair. Blackmaker which raced wide throughout, was taken wider on the home turn when More Than Fabulous shifted out away from Snitzel's Goddess. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Mitigate rider J McDonald stated that, although he had to make some use of his mount from its wide barrier, he was able to cross and then his mount relaxed in the middle stages, however, in his opinion, its condition ran out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Navua Mist trainer Mr C Waller reported the filly, which weakened over the last 100m, will now be spelled RACE 3: Ranvet Handicap 1800m Colour Of Money a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Low Places rider J McDonald stated that the gelding, which was fractious in the barrier, jumped inwards at the start and had to be steadied away from the heels of Rustic Melody, which shifted out. He added Low Places then got further back in a slowly run race and, although he received a bump near the 250m when Colour Of Money shifted out to improve, his mount was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small superficial wound to the forehead. RACE 4: Suzanne Wilkins Recognition Handicap 1200m Federal slow to begin. Bomber Brown jumped awkwardly and laid out. Blademeister bumped shortly after the start when Luxury was taken out onto Saddler's Flame, which shifted out away from Bomber Brown. Jumped the crossing near the 1600m. Berimbau had to be steadied away from the heels of Annatime near the 800m. Leaving the 800m had to be steadied away from the heels of Rajamani and shifted out wider on the track. Then held up rounding the home turn. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Rajamani near the 700m had to be steadied away from the heels of Federal and shifted out. Annatime at the 700m got its head up and had to be checked off the heels of Big Clipper (A Hyeronimus), which shifted in when not quite clear. A Hyeronimus was reprimanded. App. K
4 Jennings, rider of Annatime, was spoken to relative to the standard of the evidence given by him. Zelda A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened after being inclined to lay out under pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight, did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 5: Cellarbrations Handicap 1800m Lightning Gail App. D Panya was spoken to regarding her use of the whip in an action which raised it above shoulder height in the straight. RACE 6: TAB Place Multi Handicap 1600m Murcielaga reared on jumping and lost ground. Marvelous Ceramibo bumped on jumping when Now's The Time jumped awkwardly and made contact with that runner. Mackinac Island jumped awkwardly. Then, after being bumped by Ballet Suite, which shifted in, Mackinac Island shifted in and hampered Dowdstown Charlie. Dowdstown Charlie jumped awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start. Farolitos held up rounding the home turn and then badly held up after being disappointed for a run between Dragon Flyer and Marvelous Ceramibo approaching the 100m. J McDonald then stated that he altered course back to the inside of Dragon Flyer inside the 100m and only found clear ground over the final 50m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Now's The Time when awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of Napayshini was badly held up and did not obtain clear running until passing the 100m. Brilliant Meteor after being bumped by Farolitos approaching the 100m, could not be fully tested in the run to the finish when unable to obtain clear running. Napayshini a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on to the off-hind leg. RACE 7: McGrath Estate Agents Handicap 1100m Sheer Style Stewards gave trainer Mr G Frazer permission to remove the bubble cheeker from the filly on the grounds that in both trials this campaign the filly had raced without the gear. As Stewards' inquiries revealed Mr Frazer had not made the relevant application prior to acceptance time, he was fined $200 under AR140. Ran out abruptly for some distance approaching and passing the 100m. Flight Academy - Withdrawn at 5.21pm, on vet's advice, when the mare, which was fractious in the barriers, reared, sat down on its hindquarter and lunged forward, dislodging its rider K O'Hara. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Flight Academy be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 5.21pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Private Secretary less 1c win and 1c place
5 2nd) Magic Jewel less 2c place 3rd) Sheer Style less 1c place Trainer Mr J Coyle was advised that Flight Academy must present a veterinary certificate and must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare of have soreness across the hindquarter. Magic Jewel jumped awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight was disappointed for a run to the inside of Sheer Style, when Sheer Style shifted to the outside of Quell. Approaching the 200m Magic Jewel was again held up for clear running and could not be fully tested in the run to the finish. Floral Insight hampered shortly after the start between Sheer Style and Quell, which shifted in slightly. Passing the 900m ran out across the heels of Quell (J Doyle), which shifted in when not clear. J Doyle was reminded of his obligations to provide sufficient clearance when shifting ground. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Was disappointed for a run between Open Book and Exceleine when those runners commenced to tire near the 200m and, as a result, did not obtain clear running until inside the 100m. Exceleine App. W Costin stated the principal reason she could offer for the mare's disappointing performance was that she had to make use of it from her wide barrier and, as the mare was resuming today, being obliged to race wide without cover told on its finishing effort. The G Waterhouse stable will be asked to report on the progress of Exceleine subsequent to the race. Open Book rider T Angland stated, from his wide barrier, he was able to cross and sit outside the leader, Quell, however, his mount was immediately under pressure turning for home and, under its big weight of 61 kilos, did not respond and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Grand Condor App. S Lisnyy stated his mount raced wide throughout, although he had cover from the 500m. He added his mount hung out rounding the home turn and in the straight, however still ran to the line well. GENERAL: Samples were taken from six riders and forwarded to the ARFL for testing for banned substances. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: This Is Australia, Accuse, Mrs Kennedy, Puzzling Wonder. Race 2: Devil Hawk, Local Affair, More Than Fabulous, Dawnie Perfect. Race 3: Blademeister, Colour Of Money, Bomber Brown, Lie Direct, Coffee Hit, Rustic Melody, Saddler's Flame. Race 4: Shahrazad, Berimbau, Zelda, Melberra Star, Mandalong Kiss. Race 5: Zazparella, Sons Of John (2), Shalmaneser, Loophole. Race 6: Now's The Time, Marvelous Ceramibo, Dowdstown Charlie, Napayshini. Race 7: Supreme Effort, Net Worth, Fines: SUMMARY Race 7: Trainer G Frazer (Sheer Style) $200 fail to notify gear change (AR140).
