Annex B Tournament Rules 1. The playing rules will be as per the Hockey Canada rule book and the officiating will use the Case Book 2014-2015 currently in effect under HCOP. All OMHA rules, policies and regulations also apply. 2. During the game, all decisions made by the on-ice official will be final. In case of a dispute following a game, the Tournament Convener will assess the situation based on the rules and regulations in place and make a decision that will be final. 3. All games will be of 3 x 10 min. periods, stop-time. All games, with the exception of the finals, will be of 50 min. max. in length, which will be determined using the timekeeper s watch. 4. There will be a 2 min. warm-up prior to the game. 5. There will be no timeouts during the game, with the exception of the finals (1x 30 sec. each team). 6. If a team is ahead by 5 goals or more in the third period of a game, the clock will run in straight time. If the goal differential is reduced to three goals, the clock will revert to stop time. 7. During the qualifying round, teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie. 8. Standings are determined using the points obtained during the qualifying round. Should two teams be tied after all matches have been played, tie breakers will be as follow: a. Head to head result b. Fewest goals allowed c. Most goals scored d. Fewest penalty minutes e. Coin toss with the coaches and the Tournament Convener present. 9. Championship games resulting in a tie after reglementary time will be decided as follow; a. 5 min. sudden-death overtime period (4 on 4), if still tied; b. 3 shooters from each team are to be identified by the coach and will proceed to shootouts; highest seeding team from the qualifying round will have the choice to shoot first or second, best of three wins the game, if still tied; c. 1 shooter from each team will proceed to shoot and every skater on the roster must shoot once before a player will be allowed to shoot a second time, sudden-death each round until one team scores and the other doesn't. 10. Two major penalties during the tournament will result in an automatic ejection from the tournament for the player. 11. All team must be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to their scheduled ice time. Failure to ice a minimum of 5 skaters and 1 goaltender will result in a forfeit of the game. 12. An approved OMHA roster must be sent to the tournament administration no later than March 1st. 13. Home teams will wear a light color sweater and away teams, a dark color sweater. In case of conflicts, the home team will be responsible to switch jerseys. 5
