All classes will participate in our spring recital except for Creative Movement, Acro and Technique classes. All other recreational classes will be in both shows and all petite classes will be in one show: Show A Monday 10:00 Petite Jazz & Poms Monday 10:45 Petite Ballet & Tap 3 Monday 4:45 Petite Ballet & Acro 2 Tuesday 10:00 Petite Ballet & Tap 2 Tuesday 10:45 Petite Ballet & Acro 3 Tuesday 4:00 Petite Ballet & Tap 3 Tuesday 4:45 Petite Jazz & Hip Hop 3 Wednesday 4:45 Petite Ballet & Acro 2 Friday 10:00 Petite Ballet & Acro 2 Show B Monday 9:15 Petite Ballet &Tap 1 Monday 1:00 Petite Ballet & Tap 2 Monday 4:00 Petite Ballet& Tap 1 Monday 6:15 Petite Tap/Ballet Tuesday 9:15 Petite Ballet & Acro 1 Tuesday 5:30 Petite Jazz & Hip Hop 3 Wednesday 4:00 Petite Ballet & Acro 1 Wednesday 4:00 Petite Ballet/Tap 2 Wednesday 5:30 Petite Ballet & Jazz 3 Thursday 6:15 Petite Ballet & Jazz 2 & 3 Friday 9:15 Petite Ballet & Acro 1 RECITAL FEES Every dancer will be charged a $35 recital fee on April 15 th. For those of you on autopay, this will run on April 15 th. This fee includes a recital t-shirt that will be worn in the closing number. It also goes towards our expenses for production costs, rental of the facility, theater manager, lighting and sound technicians, insurance, security, programs, etc. CAN MY DANCER SIT IN THE AUDIENCE WHEN THEY AREN T PERFORMING? Absolutely not. Every class will have a stage mom with them backstage at all times to ensure that every child is taken care of and entertained. The stage moms will also be in charge of all costume changes. Activities will be provided as well as water. CAN MY DANCER LEAVE ONCE THEIR CLASS HAS PERFORMED? No. We are planning a full production closing number with every RPAC student. We look forward to seeing all of our dance family take the stage together. CAN I VIDEO OR TAKE PICTURES DURING RECITAL? Flash photography and video recordings of any kind are prohibited at recital. If you are seen photographing or recording the performance, you will be asked to leave the theater. Professional recital videos from JCM Photography will be available for purchase. WHAT TIME DO WE HAVE TO BE AT THE PERFORMANCE? Dancers must arrive an hour prior to the performance (1:00 pm). Please do not be late as every dancer will be on stage for warm up. CAN I COME INTO THE DRESSING ROOM? No. There will be a check in/check out point at each dressing room door. Each dancer must be signed in by a parent and will not be able to leave the dressing room after the show until they are signed out. Petite dancers will be signed out directly from the stage rather than the dressing room. This will help with overcrowding at the dressing room after the show. We are requesting that one parent or family member come to pick up your dancer. As stated above, each class will have a designated stage mom with them at all times. pg. 2

Closing Rehearsals REHEARSAL DATES: CLOSING REHEARSAL CALL TIMES: REHEARSAL LOCATION: Monday, June 5 th Recreational Classes: 5:00 pm 7:30 pm No Petite Dancers Rhapsody Performing Arts Center WHAT IS THE CLOSING? We want to unite the studio by bringing all the students together for a full production closing. The choreography will be taught prior to rehearsal in every class. We will use these rehearsals to give the dancers a chance to do the choreography all together before hitting the stage. HOW COME PETITES DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND? As with the recreational classes, the petite dancers will be learning the closing choreography in their weekly classes. We understand that younger dancers have trouble with longer rehearsals, so we would like to keep the number of rehearsals to a minimum. They will get a chance to run the closing number on stage with all of the dancers at tech rehearsal. WHAT ARE WE WEARING FOR THE PERFORMANCE/DO I NEED AN ADDITIONAL COSTUME? Every dancer will wear their recital t-shirt for the performance, which is included in the recital fee. The only thing you will have to purchase is black leggings. All dancers will be barefoot for the closing number. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO REHEARSAL? Please wear your normal dance attire to the closing rehearsals. Your closing number shirts will be handed out at tech rehearsal. HOW CAN MY DANCER PRACTICE THE CLOSING NUMBER AT HOME? We will be letting all parents come into class to video the recital dances and closing numbers. Please see the VIDEO WEEK section on page 9 for more information. Dress Rehearsal DRESS REHEARSAL DATE: TECH REHEARSAL CALL TIMES: DRESS REHEARSAL LOCATION: Thursday, June 8 th Recreational Dancers 5:00 pm 7:30 pm No Petite Dancers Rhapsody Performing Arts Center WHAT IS DRESS REHEARSAL? Dress rehearsal is a closed, in-studio full mock-up run through of the show prior to the actual performance. This gives the dancers a chance to run through their dances in their costumes and go over their formations in a studio that is the size of the stage. HOW COME PETITES DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND? As stated above, one of the main purposes of dress rehearsal is to block the dances in a big studio that is the size of the stage. This is unnecessary for the petite classes as they will mostly stay in the same basic formations/positions though out their dances. Again, we understand that the younger dancers have trouble with longer rehearsals, especially these rehearsals that are later in the evening. The petite dancers will have a chance to run though their dances in full costume on stage at tech rehearsal. CAN I WATCH? No. There is not enough space in the studio to accommodate observers. DO WE COME WITH OUR HAIR AND MAKEUP DONE? Yes. We want to run dress rehearsal to be as close as possible to the actual recital. We don t want the dancers to be distracted by their hair and makeup on the day of performance. Again, we do dress rehearsal to work out all of the kinks, including hair and makeup. pg. 3

Tech Rehearsal TECH REHEARSAL DATE: Friday, June 9 th TECH REHEARSAL CALL TIMES: Petite Dancers 5:00 pm 7:00 pm Recreational Dancers 6:30 pm 8:30 pm DRESS REHEARSAL LOCATION: Highlands Ranch High School 9375 S Cresthill Lane Highlands Ranch, CO 80130 WHAT IS TECH REHEARSAL? Tech rehearsal is to work out the technical details of the show including lighting, music, staging, etc. We have separate tech and dress rehearsals because we need to efficiently use our time at the theater as our time there is limited. DOES MY DANCER NEED TO BE THERE THE ENTIRE TIME? Please see the above call times for all dancers. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your call time with your hair and makeup done. Your dancer needs to stay for your entire call time as we will be running our closing number 6:30 7:00. Every dancer must be present for this run-through. CAN I WATCH? No. Tech rehearsal is closed to all observers. Imagine it like Christmas day. Do you let your child look at their presents before they open them? We want you to be surprised. DO WE COME WITH OUR HAIR AND MAKEUP DONE? Yes, like dress rehearsal, we want to give the dancers a chance to run through their dances in costume, but this time they will be on stage with lights and music. Tickets Tickets will be available for purchase beginning May 1 st at the front desk. We will be selling tickets at the door as well, however, please take advantage of our $3 discount per ticket for all pre-sale tickets sold. Our venue this year is smaller than last year. Video Week We hear a lot, how can we practice at home? New this year: we are inviting all parents to come into class May 1 st through May 5 th to video the recital dances. Please come 10-15 minutes before the end of your dancer s class. We will be running though the recital dances and closing number for you to video. Pictures PICTURE DATE: PICTURE TIME: PICTURE LOCATION: Saturday, May 13 th See page 6 for the specific schedule See Page 6 for your class times Rhapsody Performing Arts Center WHY DO WE TAKE PICTURES? Just like any team sport, we want to give you the opportunity to purchase a keepsake of your dancer and their classmates for the year. We will also be taking headshots for studio yearbooks that will be available for purchase. Please see page 7 for more information regarding our yearbooks. DOES MY DANCER TAKE PICTURES ALONE OR WITH THEIR GROUP? Both! In addition to the headshots and group shots, your child will have the opportunity to have a solo session in their costume with our professional photographer. HOW DO I DO HAIR & MAKEUP FOR PICTURES? Hair will be the same as recital. Please see page 8 for your specific hairstyle. Makeup should be natural. Stage makeup is not necessary for pictures. DO I HAVE TO ORDER PICTURES? No. However, there will be a variety of packages available including printed copies and digital downloads. Please see below for additional information on ordering pictures. Even if you do not plan on purchasing a picture package, we would encourage you to attend. That way you can be in our yearbook for your headshots and group pictures. HOW DO I ORDER PICTURES? All orders will go directly though our photographer: JCM Photography. You will be emailed a link to register online or you can fill out a picture registration form the day of. After that you will be emailed your own personal link to your dancer s individual pictures. Picture packages will be available online which will include digital downloads and/or print outs that will be sent directly to you. New this year: you will also have the option to add on a recital video DVD to your picture. Combine your pictures and recital DVD for additional savings! WHAT IF MY DANCER CANNOT ATTEND? If your dancer cannot attend picture day, your dancer will not be in the group shot. We will give you the option to be in the yearbook by submitting your own headshot. WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE? Please arrive at least thirty minutes before your scheduled time. You should come with your hair and makeup already done. If you are not on time, we will be taking the group pictures without you. You are more than welcome to still take head shots and individual dance shots if you arrive late. CAN MY CHILD BE IN THE PICTURES IF THEY ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN RECITAL? All dancers are more than welcome to come to take headshots for the yearbook. However, they will be unable to be in the group pictures unless they purchased the costume. pg. 5

Stage Moms/Volunteers MANDATORY STAGE MOM MEETING: STAGE MOM MEETING TIME: STAGE MOM MEETING LOCATION: Friday, June 2 nd 6:00 pm 7:00 pm Rhapsody Performing Arts Center RPAC is looking for mothers to volunteer backstage during recital. We need one mom for every petite class and two moms for every recreational class (one for Saturday s performance and one for Sunday s performance). All volunteers will receive two free tickets to the recital and a free RPAC recital t-shirt which will be available at will call the day of the recital. Responsibilities of the stage mothers include, but are not limited to: Keeping track of every dancer in your class Helping dancers with costume changes Entertaining dancers with games, coloring pages, and/or other activities Attend a mandatory pre-show stage mother meeting Attend closing rehearsal, tech rehearsal and dress rehearsal Arrive 30 minutes prior to call time for dress rehearsal and recital You must stay until all dancers in your class are picked up from both dress rehearsal and recital In addition to the stage mom, we are looking for 5-10 additional volunteers to help out with front of the house jobs, IE: ticket takers, handing out programs, packaging flowers, selling flowers, and selling concessions. If you volunteer for a front of the house position, your specific job will be assigned on the day of the show. We will have three head stage-moms to answer question and handle any issues at dress rehearsal and recital. Please try to go to them first with all questions. A volunteer sign-up sheet is available at the front desk. We would like all of the volunteer positions filled by March 6 th. We will be having a MANDATORY stage mom meeting on Friday, June 2 nd from 6:00 7:00 pm. We will be handing out detailed information regarding dancers, costume changes, shoes, accessories, line up and more. If you class does not have a parent volunteer, each dancer will be charged an additional $10 and Rhapsody will provide a stage mom for your class. This position is key to a successful show. We recommend that you only volunteer if you are willing and able to meet the above criteria. For any additional questions regarding volunteering, please contact Angie Pomeroy, angie.rpac@gmail.com. pg. 7

Costumes/Hair/Makeup All costumes will be tried on in class when they arrive, however, costumes will not be handed out until the last week in April. Please note: your account must be current in order to receive your costume. WHERE CAN I SEE WHAT COSTUME MY CHILD IS WEARING? There will be a costume book available at the front desk on March 6 th with pictures of every costume. Please feel free to stop by and take a look! HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SHOES, TIGHTS AND ACCESSORIES I NEED? Information regarding shoes, tights and accessories will also be in the costume book. This information will also be emailed to you. Tights and accessories are included with your costume fees. You will only be responsible to purchase the appropriate shoes for your class. HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY DANCER RECEIVES THE RIGHT SIZE? Each dancer has been measured and costumes were ordered using each individual measurement. We do take into consideration room for growth. COSTUME TIPS: Put your name in all costume pieces. Place all costumes in a garment bag for travel Do NOT iron your costumes. You may use a steamer Don t forget your shoes/tights/accessories Do not wash your costumes. Spot clean only. WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD S COSTUE DOES NOT FIT? Again, we will be trying on costumes the end of April. If your child s costume does not fit, we will find a solution at that time. HOW DO WE DO OUR HAIR? Petite Dancers: Half up and half down with curls Dancers ages 7 & up: Low (at the back of the neck), slicked back, ponytail, parted on the right side of the head. (curls optional) WHAT IS STAGE MAKEUP Without stage makeup, it is impossible to see a person's face on stage. It is important to understand why performers of all ages need to wear stage makeup. As we all already know, no child needs makeup to look beautiful. Wearing makeup on stage is NOT about trying to improve your looks. It is about being seen under bright lights from a far distance. Stage lights are extremely bright and will wash out any and all facial features if no makeup is applied. Face: Eyes: Lips: Foundation, Powder & Blush Eyeliner, Neutral Colored Eyeshadows & Mascara (False Eyelashes not necessary) Dark Pink or Wine Colored Lipstick (Not Bright Red) Additional Questions We are looking forward to another great performance for all of our dance family and their friends. Please remember that most of our correspondence comes via email. For any additional questions, please feel free to contact us: info@rhapsodyperformingartscenter.com angie.rpac@gmail.com helen.rpac@gmail.com www.rhapsodyperformingartscenter.com (303) 721-1202 pg. 8
