Russell s homer was his 20th of the season, making him just the second Cub to reach that mark in his age 22 season or younger he joins the legendary Ron Santo, who in 1961 hit 23 homers in his age 21 campaign. s victory was his 17th of the season, the most in the N.L. and third-most in the majors behind Boston s Rick Porcello (20) and Toronto s J.A. Happ (18). ON THE SEASON: Chicago sits 40 games over.00 and owns a 16.0-game lead in the N.L. Central division over the second-place Cardinals the Cubs magic number to clinch the division sits at five. Chicago s 1 interleague wins are its most in a single season, surpassing the 13 victories by the 2013 club (13-7). FLEXING HIS MUSCLES: Anthony Rizzo enters tonight s contest tied for seventh in the N.L. with 29 home runs while his 97 RBI are tied for third in the Senior Circuit.
