L'Aquila has ancient Sabino-vestina origins in the nuclei of Amiternum and Forcona. After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, small urban agglomerates formed around the Aquila basin, called castles, which decided the foundation of the new city in 1254, according to the legend, while others believe it was founded around 1230 under the patronage of Federico II of Swabia, and destroyed for the first time in 1259 by Manfredi di Sicilia. The city had considerable development in the Middle Ages, under the control of the Camponeschi family, and in 1424 it managed to resist the siege of Braccio da Montone having sided against Naples for its Angevin loyalty. L'Aquila boasts a very varied and original historical heritage, despite the strong earthquakes of 1461, 1703 and 2009, showing a medieval layer present above all through the City Walls, Renaissance with regard to the palaces and some churches, and finally the Baroque and the neoclassical. The urban axis is divided into four districts or quarters, each of which is represented by a headquarter church. Among the most famous monuments stand out the already mentioned basilicas of San Bernardino and Collemaggio (the latter considered the masterpiece of the Abruzzi gothic as well as the symbol of the city, but also the medieval fountains, including the source of the 99 canvasses, the city walls with the access doors, the eighteenth-century palaces of the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the Piazza Duomo and especially the Spanish Fort.

6) REFEREES Federal referees will umpire the matches of the International Tournament. 7) ENTRY FEE The Entry Fee is 270,00 per person for the whole period. Every Team must confirm its participation, specifying the number of participants, by sending the specific form (Form 1) to golballtournament@fispic.it and paying the 25% of the Entry Fee by the 31 st July 2018. The final payment has to be deposited by the 10 th September 2018.
