AQUAMAN 5.0/2.0 (NATIONAL OPEN WATER SWIMMING COMPETITION) SUNK ROCK TO GATEWAY OF INDIA - 24 MAR 2019 RULES AND REGULATIONS REGISTRATION Registrations will close on the 10th of March 2019 or when allocated spots are filled, whichever comes first. Registration spots are limited and would be filled in a first come first serve basis. Applicants are requested to download the Entry Form, Indemnity bond and Medical certificate from the Aquaman website www.aquamansport.com and submit, duly filled out, to the organisers at the time of Kit Collection. Any participant arriving for kit collection without the forms, would be disqualified without any possibility of refund. No individual/group is authorized to collect entries on behalf of AQUAMAN Sport. ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION IN AQUAMAN 5.0 / 2.0 RACE MINIMUM AGE (on or before 31.12.18) CERTIFICATE (open water sea swim) Aquaman 5.0 13 years Minimum 1.5 km Aquaman 2.0 10 years Minimum 1 km Age cut-off is as per current age on or before 31st December 2018. All participants under the age of 18 years must get the Entry form, Indemnity and Medical Certificate signed by a parent/guardian. Participants must provide previous open water sea swimming certificate of at least 1.5 km and 1 km respectively (as per above criteria). Those without previous swim certificates will not be allowed to participate and their registrations will be rejected with no refund of registration fees. -1-
-2- Participation in the event is subject to confirmation of participant information. Each participant s identity and proof of age will be verified with the details provided in the form. In the event of discrepancy/misrepresentation/false claims, the candidature of the said participant shall be withheld/disqualified with no refund of registration fees. The registration form, the right to participate in the event, and the rights and benefits available to the participant are at the sole discretion of the Organisers and cannot be transferred to any other person or event under any circumstance. The actual participant alone shall be entitled to the rights and benefits arising out of such confirmation of participation. No requests for cancellation of registration/change of category/refund of registration fees will be entertained. The fastest overall swimmers for 5 km and 2 km, excluding Group 6, will be declared Aquaman 5.0 and Aquaman 2.0 with a special trophy and cash prizes. Merit certificates shall be awarded to the first 10 swimmers from each of the 6 groups. Attractive Aquaman Finisher medals shall be given to ALL swimmers who complete their swim. E-certificates for ALL swimmers who complete their swims within the cut off times.
-3- MEDICAL CERTIFICATE & INDEMNITY All participants must submit their Proof of Age, Indemnity Form and Medical Certificates along with the Entry Form. All required forms may be downloaded from the official website www.aquamansportindia.com, filled by the participant and submitted to the Organisers at the time of Kit Collection. In absence of these duly filled and signed forms and certificates, the Entries will not be considered. Please note that the Medical Examinations will not be conducted by us. Imp. Note: The Organisers reserve the right to request all/particular participants to undertake anti-doping tests at any time before or after the event. Any participant found positive in any of the tests undertaken would be disqualified from the event and blacklisted/barred from all future editions of Aquaman. KIT COLLECTION / FORMS SUBMISSION It is mandatory for each participant to submit all required forms and collect his/her race kit personally during the scheduled Kit Collection dates and times. Photo ID proof is required to be shown at the time of kit collection, along with the aforementioned Medical Certificate, Indemnity and Entry Form, as well as previous swim certificate. Non-transferrable timing tags and the official Aquaman swimming cap will be handed over to all participants. EVENT DAY All participants are required to arrive within the specified reporting time, failing which they will not be allowed to participate in the race. An open baggage deposit area will be available, which will require all bags to be signed in and signed out by participants. Organizers however, are not responsible for any loss of baggage and/or any belongings. Participants are to participate only in the race category/group for which their entry has been confirmed. The entry and timing tags are not transferable to any other person under any circumstance.
-4- Every participant is required to wear their timing tag at all times during the race. Participants found to have interchanged their timing tag with another individual, will be disqualified from the event and shall not be allowed to apply or participate in subsequent editions of the event. Please note if the timing tag is not worn as instructed, the participant will not receive an official finish time and e-certificate. On completion of the race, participants are requested to avoid walking back across the finish line to avoid erroneous readings at the timing mat/radar situated at finish. Wearing of the official swimming cap is compulsory failure to do so will lead to disqualification. Please note that no timing tags or caps will be handed over on Event Day. RESULTS & TIMING CERTIFICATES RACE CUT-OFF TIMINGS DNF (Did Not Finish) Aquaman 5.0 2 hrs 30 minutes Finish after 2.5 hrs Aquaman 2.0 75 minutes Finish after 75 mins Both swim categories will be electronically timed. E-certificates will be available only to those participants who successfully complete the course within the cut-off timings. Provisional timings will be sent to each participant via SMS on completion of the race. Provisional timings will be made available on the Aquaman Sport website (www.aquamansportindia.com) within 48 hrs after completion of the race. Any grievances/contests may be submitted via email ONLY to aquamansportindia@gmail.com within 48 hrs of online display of provisional timings. No grievances/contests will be accepted after this time period. The decision of the organizers/race officials shall be final and binding.
-5- RACE COURSE The competition is boat-start and land-finish event, from Sunk Rock to the Gateway of India. The measurements of distance arrived at are approximate in both categories. The swim course will be clearly marked and swimmers will be required to stay on the marked course. Organizers reserve the right to change the said course at any time. This may arise due to construction activity, security and safety reasons, non-compliance from government authorities or any other reasons the organizers deem fit. LITTERING Trash bins will be set-up at the venue and will also be available on the boats. Bottles, wrappers, peels etc. are to be disposed in the trash bins only and are not to be discarded on ground or in the sea. Aquaman Sports has a strict litter free policy and any participants or their family members / supporters found littering by a race official will result in a time penalty for the participant. LIFEGUARDS, MEDICAL & SAFETY Organising team will handle safety of the event with lifeguards and rescue boards. Boats will constantly patrol the swimming zone for the duration of the race (i.e; within race cut-off timings only). They will carry a floatation device and drinking water. Swimmers are not allowed to hold onto moving boats. In case a swimmer needs any help, medical attention or wants to be picked up in the middle of the race, he/she should wave/gesture to the nearest boat until he/she is approached by a lifeguard or a race official. A medical tent/station with a doctor will be available at the venue (the Gateway of India) throughout the period of race. An ambulance will also be on stand-by at the race venue.
Organizers reserve the right to stop any participant from participating who is found medically unfit to continue in the opinion of the medical consultant. -6- HYDRATION & REFRESHMENTS Adequate hydration would be available at the venue and on the boats. Post event snacks and refreshments would also be available for all swimmers. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARTICIPANTS All participants must obey Race officials and Lifeguard instructions completely and immediately. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification. Any participant who is deemed unfit to continue the race by the lifeguards or the race officials will be brought back to the shore. Failure to comply will lead to immediate disqualification and such a participant will not be allowed to apply or participate in subsequent editions of the event. Every swimmer is responsible for his/her safety and will inform the organizers if they have any pre-existing problems that could be dangerous in the sea. Swimmers to ensure adequate hydration at all times. Head-up swimming only allowed (no prolonged underwater glides). All swimmers shall maintain the spirit of sport and refrain from pushing and shoving other swimmers either at the start, the finish or during the race. Observance of any hostile or inappropriate behaviour will lead to immediate disqualification. If a swimmer needs rest or water, he is to signal the nearest lifeguard who will assist him with a floatation device; swimmers are NOT allowed to hold onto moving boats. Swimmers may also rest by holding onto the buoys. Swimmers are to exit the water at the designated finish area (between the flags) and make sure they run through the timing mat/radar ONLY. Failure to exit at the designated finish area will lead to disqualification.
-7- Volunteers, lifeguards and race officials are to be treated with respect and courtesy non-compliance by the participant towards volunteers or race officials will lead to immediate disqualification. Swimming under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited with immediate disqualification from this event and disbarring from subsequent editions of the event. Swimming aids are not allowed. No private boats/ water craft will be allowed in the water during the course of the event. Any participant found to be accompanied by water craft/non-registered swimmer will be disqualified. No participant shall accept any assistance from any person (other than a race official/volunteer), in any form, unless an exception has been granted and approved in writing by the organisers, prior to the event. ANTI HARASSMENT POLICY AQUAMAN has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment of any kind, including but not limited to intimidation, offensive verbal comments, physical assault and/or battery, harassing or non-consensual photography or recording, sustained disruption of swims, podium ceremony or any other event, inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome physical attention; in relation to, but not limited to, race, colour, gender, gender presentation, sexual orientation, age, body size, disability, appearance or religion. If a person engages in harassing behaviour, AQUAMAN organisers will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion with no refund. Our policy applies to EVERYONE at the Competition. The organising team, participants, their family / supporters, Members of the Press/media, Officials/Lifeguards, Volunteers, and Security personnel, are all subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action. Anyone can report harassment. If someone s behaviour has made you uncomfortable, or if you witness the same happening to someone else, you should immediately contact the Race officials/security Team/Volunteer Member.
