Wave Information Why do we have waves? Ø For swimmer and our water team safety, we need to limit numbers in the water at any one time Ø To ensure swimmers are within a category suitable for their age Ø To ensure fairness in competition and promote sportsmanship Why are breaks scheduled between the waves? Ø To limit the number of swimmers on the course at any one time Ø To all allow B2B management to assess the conditions Ø To allow for the on-water safety team rotation
Wetsuit Policy We want to run a fair event for all, however swimmer safety is absolutely paramount. Bondi to Bronte is an early season event, water temperatures and the surf conditions can keep people in the water much longer than their average 2km swim. Every swimmer can wear a wetsuit if they wish, but only 'non-wettie wearers' are eligible for overall and age group prizes. Our event Timing partner, Multisport Australia, will list results in a separate category for 'wettiewearers'. Swimmers will be separated as they cross the finish line into wetties and non-wetties. Swimmer belongings will be transported back to Bronte, so feel free to bring your wetsuit to make the decision once you are at Bondi. IMPORTANT: Wetsuit swimmers will be asked to run over a second timing mat, a few meters past the main finish line. Please follow the directions of our timing staff and volunteers. Prizes $500 cash to the 1st male and female overall winners $500 cash to the 1st male and female Dash for Cash winners. A Macquarie Bondi to Bronte Towel will be given to each age category place winner. Personal Belongings There will be 2 baggage delivery times, one at approximately 10am and the other roughly 45 minutes after. Look for the baggage drop off in the Bondi parking area near registrations. You will be given a tag (the colour of your swim wave) to write your name and contact details. This will be tied to your bag for transportation to Bronte Beach. The bags will be taken to the parking area at Bronte beach and sorted into corresponding cap colours. There will be a team who will secure and help you locate your bag easily!
