Wake Forest is currently on a three year streak of appearances as well, dating back to 2013. Of those appearancecs, Averill boasts three national championships, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Most recently in 2014, the Demon Deacons won their fourth ACC Field Hockey Championship in program history. The title was Wake Forest s first ACC team title since women s soccer in 2010 and was the athletic department s 47th alltime team ACC Championship. That year, Averill earned her a seventh-career ACC Coach of the Year award. Averill has been recognized by many organizations and in 2010 she was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Before coaching, Averill was a highly-successful player. She was a four-time All-American at Northwestern and earned the prestigious Honda Broderick Award in 1987 for being the nation s best field hockey player.
