ALWAYS HERE FOR OUR COMMUNITY COOK COUNTY COMMUNITY YMCA 105 W 5th Street, Grand Marais, MN March 2015 www.cookcountyymca.org PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS, MEMBER UPDATES, UPCOMING EVENTS & MORE! MEET JAYMIE KIRK Jaymie joined the Y in January 2014 as a charter member. Some of her favorite things to do at the Y are go swimming and workout. She enjoys running on the treadmills. Jaymie went from being a casual member that used the Y on occasion to a committed member that comes to the Y almost every day to help out as a volunteer. The staff have really connected with her and appreciate her leadership skills. She is a fast learner and really knows how to catch and hold the attention of young children, says one of her supervisors. Jaymie started volunteering for the Y in September 2014, when she realized there was a need for slide attendants. However, her real passion is working with children. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up and really enjoys working with the little kids. When she realized there was a daycare opening, she started to go through training and volunteer opportunities to prepare her to help out in the daycare. She is currently getting training in Abusive Head Trauma and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death as well as CPR and first aid. She has been helping in the Kids Club area after school and is a huge help at Parent s Night Out events.
