2019 Co-Ed Adult Soccer League Rules Island Rec will observe FIFA rules with the following exceptions: Age: All participants must be 15 years and up Players on the Field: 9 Players (4 females & 4 males plus a goalie) two members of your team can be 14 or 15 yrs old, all the rest must be 16 or older. 1. Home team: The second team listed on the schedule is the home team. The Home team will keep the official scorebook. Both teams are encouraged to keep score and check with each other every inning. 2. Time limit: 1 hour 10 minutes of play, unless the score is tied, then the game will continue for 10 more minutes, 1 st to score wins or if 10 minutes comes to an end and no team has scored, the game will end in a tie. 3. Minimum number of players: needed to play a game is 7 (4 males & 3 females plus a goalie) 4. Pick-up players: If less than a full team appears for their match (9 players, 4 females & 4 males plus a goalie), teams are permitted to add or substitute players from other teams Pick up players must be an existing league player, on a team roster. If no pick-up players are present, the game will be ruled a forfeit, unless the team can still field 7 players 5. No Slide Tackles or Bicycle Kicks will be allowed, even if contact is made only with the ball, players must remain on their feet. 6. Substitutions are unlimited and players may re-enter the game at any stoppage of play 7. Yellow & Red Card: Cumulative Yellow Card Penalty: 1 yellow card is a warning, 2 yellow cards in one game results in a red card and player removal from the field as well as a 1 game suspension. For each additional yellow card received, the player is suspended one additional game. 4 yellow cards in a season will result in player removal from the league. RED: Any player receiving a red card will be suspended and required to sit out the next scheduled game. If it is determined that the severity of the infraction warrants, the suspension period may be extended. Two (2) red cards during any given season will result in player termination from the league. Any red carded player who does not sit out the one week of play will receive a second red card and the player s team will automatically forfeit the game. Footwear: No metal, metal tipped nylon, or removable spikes with posts or studs are allowed.
8. Profanity rule: Any player or captain using profanity (expletives not directed at an umpire or opposing player(s) and loud enough to be heard by spectators) will result in a warning to both teams for the first offense. Subsequent offenses will result in player being removed from the game. Every Offense after that will result in player being removed from game. 9. Leaving the game: Players leaving the game for injury or ejection are not allowed back into the game. Players leaving the game for personal or other reasons are allowed to do so without penalty, and are allowed back into the game one time. 10. 10 minute running grace period: Teams should be ready to start 5 minutes before the scheduled starting time; however, there is a 10 minute running time grace period. Teams will forfeit the game if not ready to play 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. Game ending time remains the same. 11. Protests/Appeals: May not be made on umpire judgments, only rule violations and only by the captain. Any arguing on judgment constitutes a team warning. Any repeat offense shall result in the ejection of that team member. Appeals to calls or ejections must be written out and submitted to Island Rec along with a $25 deposit within 24 hours of the game. A decision will be made before the team s next game. A player will not have to sit out a game if ejected for illegal substitution. 12. Roster List with Subs must be handed in to the Referee prior to the start of the game. League Rules and Regulations Dogs: are not permitted on school grounds Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol at the playing fields or anywhere on school grounds is prohibited. One warning will be given violators of this rule. A second violation of this rule will result in dismissal from the league. If a fan is the violator, the sheriff will be called. Tobacco: of any kind is not permitted on the field, dugouts or anywhere on school grounds. Rain-outs: Unless Island Rec cancels games prior to 4:30pm teams are required to show up at their assigned field at the designated time with the minimum number of players needed to start the game. The referee s shall determine the fitness of the field for starting a game and have the sole responsibility to call the game. Island Rec will reschedule games. Reporting scores: It is the responsibility of the winning team to call in the scores of the game. All scores must be received by noon on Thursday. Scores can be called in and left on message phone at 378-4953; dropped off in a drop off box in front of Island Rec s office at 580 Guard Street or can be emailed to morgan@islandrec.org. Be sure to include your team name and the team name of the opposing team. Game balls & First Aid Kits: Island Rec will provide game balls to teams along with first aid kits. It s the responsibility of the teams to bring a game ball as well as their first aid kits. More first aid supplies will be provided upon request. Rosters/Waivers: Preliminary Rosters and waivers are due in Island Rec s office before first game. Final rosters and waivers are due before your team plays the second week. Players may only be on one roster. All players must sign a waiver. Rosters are limited to 12 players. Jewelry: Exposed jewelry (wrist watches, bracelets, metal barrettes, large earrings and neck chains or any other item deemed dangerous by the referee) may not be worn during the game.
