John P. Neumeier F RO M YO U R G E N E R A L M A NA G E R This summer seems to be flying by and there has been a lot of rain free (knock on wood) golf days as opposed to last year. The staff and myself are looking forward to the Fourth of July weekend festivities...they are as much fun for us as they are for you all. Begin looking for a menu change toward the end of July, Tony and I are working hard to come up with a menu we think you all will really enjoy. I want to encourage everyone to come out to eat dinner with us and help support your club, we have nightly specials along with the regular menu which is as varied as any eatery in Maumelle. Upcoming events such as Night Golf and Karaoke Idol promises to be a lot of fun, so check your calendar and make your plans to come out and have fun with us. The pool is open and provides a refreshing solution to this very hot summer, nothing better than taking a plunge and enjoying a frozen libation from our bar! If you know of anyone looking for a venue for a wedding reception, class reunion or such, please ask them to contact me and I ll take it from there! Hope everyone s having a great summer! See ya at the club! Jeff Frazier
JULY 10 Newsletter Page 3 T U R F TA L K Summer is officially here! Hot as can be and our greens love it! Our first aerification was a great success! The greens were fully recovered in 9 days! The rest of the course is doing great too. Although, as I write this the grass is beginning to grow so fast it will be hard for us to keep up! Roughs are the most difficult area on the course to keep up with, but it is a lot easier to do when it is not raining everyday like last July! We are still fighting a battle with weeds but we should turn the corner here pretty soon. I hope everyone has a great Summer and remember, stay hydrated! Thank you and have a great round! Jason Baker, GCS F RO M T H E P RO S H O P Minute with Maddox Greetings from the golf shop! It is great to be back a Maumelle CC. You will soon meet my wife Lori, and our kids Grace (7) and Sam (4). I look forward to seeing some familiar faces as well as meeting those of you that joined the club after I moved to Texas. FITNESS TIP OF THE MONTH I don't exercise. If God wanted me to bend over, he'd have put diamonds on the floor, comments Joan Rivers. It's true, many of us simply do not enjoy fitness and exercising. It's also true that every single person in this world can benefit from a proper fitness and nutrition program. Start small by setting a realistic, tangible goal. Simply stating that you want to lose weight is not effective. Be specific. For example, I want to lose 5 pounds of fat by September 1st. Next, measure your progress. Take your base measurements and then re-take them on a regular basis. You cannot measure your progress if you have no idea where you started from. Lastly, remember2889 that nutrition is a huge part of the battle. Eating small meals throughout the day complements your fitness routine. Learn to eat healthy and kick diets out of your life forever. Come see the experts at Results Fitness to help you get on fitness program that will change your life! We can help you stay motivated and reach your goals. You can add a fitness membership to your MCC membership for a reduced rate. Talk to Lisa for more info.
