NEWSLETTER OF THE LILYDALE BOWLING CLUB 4 th December 2018 UPSHOT UPCOMING EVENTS Saturday 15 th December Tuesday 18 th December Saturday Pennant Xmas Break Up Midweek Pennant Xmas Break Up PLAYER ACHIEVEMENTS Our club again has reason to be proud with the achievements of our players at National and Regional levels. Josh Sanders, Johnny Sanders and Troy Strafford in winning Silver Medals at the National Triples Championships played in Merimbula. They have again been fine ambassadors for our club as the proudly represented Victoria.
In their first encounter they played South Australia and went down 14-20. After a chance to reset the compass they came out with all guns blazing in Round Two to put their WA counterparts to the sword and register their first win 27-10 and keep their hopes of claiming a final berth alive. In Round Three, they won a very close match against New South Wales 14-12 and advanced to the final to play Queensland by the narrowest of shot margins to contest the gold medal. Unfortunately, they went down against the undefeated team from Queensland in the decider. Vicki Smith and Renee Hoffman who won the Regional Ladies Pairs Championship. Vicki and Renee are new members and it great to see them achieving success. John Snell and Mick Rose who were runners up in the Regional Mens Pairs Championship John and Mick went down by only one shot. SATURDAY PENNANT This weekend sees Round 9 being played on Saturday 8 th December and Round 10 on Sunday 9 th December. All regular Saturday players are considered to be available for both days unless they have advised the selectors otherwise. Sunday s Round 10 selection will take place on Saturday night. MIDWEEK PENNANT XMAS BREAK UP (Tuesday 18 th December) All Midweek Pennant players, supporters, Tuesday card players and those who have assisted are in invited to an afternoon tea which will be provided by the club from 3.30 following [pennant. SATURDAY PENNANT XMAS BREAK UP (Saturday 15 th December) All members, partners and family are encouraged to attend the breakup following pennant. A sausage/hamburger sizzle with side salads will be provided by the club. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS A reminder that entry fees for Club Championship events that have been entered should now be paid. If you have a fee that is outstanding, please effect payment by placing it in an envelope with your name and the event and depositing it in the Treasurers box.
POINT OF SALE REGISTER TRAINING Our new bar registers which are currently set up in the office have now been configured into a format which suits our club. We will now commence training sessions with the first being at 3.00pm this Thursday 6 th December. It is important that all bar staff are trained and competent with the new registers as soon as possible so we can take advantage of the benefits they offer. Bowls Vic or Regional Championship entries. Facebook. Web Sites. Credit Card usage. Applications for Coaching and Umpire qualification. All members will be requested to complete a form acknowledging their data held by Lilydale Bowling Club and their understanding of its possible usage. GARDENING CLUB A gardening club has been formed to maintain our surrounds. Plans are to get together on the last Monday of each month. All are encouraged to join with the more the better.
