Sports in Europe - book review: "Learning Shooting Sports - Archery, Rifle, Pistol" (Barth / Dreilich, 2010) Katrin Barth, a certified teacher with many years of professional experience, and Beate Dreilich, a certified sports instructor and long-time German national coach for sport shooting as well as training coaches in the German Shooting Sport and Archery Federation, recently published the book "Learning Shooting Sport - Archery, Rifle, Pistol" together with the German expert in educational science, Prof. Bernd Barth. Both authors provide a remarkable learn- and-work book for children and teenagers who want to start sport shooting. Beginning with the history of shooting sport and important hints regarding nutrition, relaxation and concentration exercises as well as basic information on archery, rifle and pistol shooting up to exciting brainteasers, the book contains everything an enthusiastic young sport shooter needs. Sammy the Stork accompanies the children on their way through the 150 pages of this informing and interesting book and of course on their way to the responsible, sucessful and age-based shooting sport. For the authors an integral concept was important to train not only the sportive activity but also to gain necessary key qualifications. Beate Dreilich underlines: "I think it is time to present sport shooting as an interesting and inspiring Olympic sport for children and teenagers." The book is also available in German and can be bought for 14,95. Publishing company is "Meyer and Meyer Sport" (www.m-m-sports.com) under ISBN 978-1-84126-294-9. - International Sport and Culture Association presents workplan 2010

It was founded in 1995. For 2010, the implementation of SANTE, a sport action network for Europe, the 'Sport and Cultures in Dialogue'-Program and the ISCA Youth seminars is planned. More information on the workplan 2010 and the overall activities of ISCA can be found on the ISCA website and in the ISCA Secretary General's statement on youtube. - Preparations for ISSF World Shooting Championship 2010 Munich (GER) The 50th ISSF World Shooting Championship 2010 will take place from 29th July to 11th August 2010 at the Olympic Shooting Range in Munich-Hochbrueck. Fight against Doping - International Convention against Doping in Sport The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) informs that meanwhile 130 countries (out of 193 UNESCO member states) have ratified the International Convention against Doping in Sport. So nearly 90% of the world population is now covered by this Convention: "The UNESCO Convention, which came into force on February 1, 2007, is the practical instrument by which governments formalize their commitment to the fight against doping. Given that many governments cannot be bound by a non-governmental document such as the World Anti-Doping Code (the document harmonizing anti-doping rules in all sports and countries), the Convention permits governments to align their domestic policies with the Code, thus harmonizing the rules governing anti-doping in sport and public legislation. Under UNESCO standards, the International Convention against Doping in Sport has set speed records in terms of preparation, adoption and ratification."
