CORTEZ WATER DRAGONS 2019 SUMMER OPEN DATES: Friday, May 31, 2019, Saturday, June 1, 2019 and Sunday, June 2, 2019. SANCTION: Held under the sanction of USA Swimming, sanction number 2019-068. In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims or damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. LOCATION: Cortez Municipal Pool 970-565-7877 803 E Montezuma Ave Cortez, CO 81321 Altitude: 6,200 feet FACILITY: Outdoor, 6-lane, 25 yard pool that is adjacent to a 6 lane, 50 meter pool. The adjacent section that would create the 50 meter pool will be used for warm-up/cool-down. We are only able to offer a 25 yard competition this year. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2c(4). Short course water depth measures 5 and ½ feet at the shallow end and 12 feet at the deep end. Pop up tents and chairs are allowed around the pool and in the grassy areas on a first come basis. The public park adjacent to the pool WILL NOT be fenced or secured for overnight camping. Mobile home and/or RV parking will not be allowed in the pool parking lot unless the unit fits within an ordinary parking space. We reserve the right to split the session differently or to combine sessions based on the entries received, inclement weather or other unforeseen delays. Coaches Meeting: The meet Referee will hold coaches meetings as necessary. Further information will be available at the registration table. Timers Meeting: Please sign in at the registration table 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. Please gather next to the officials tables and tents prior to the start of each session for a timers meeting. TIMING: Colorado Timing System 6 with touch pads and display board will be the primary timing system for all events. Back-up timing will consist of two buttons and one stopwatch. Team Unify Touchpad software will be used. We will endeavor to make results available
through the OnDeck app as early as possible, however this is a new process for us, so your patience is appreciated. ELIGIBILITY: ENTRY LIMIT: Open to any swimmer with a 2019 USA Swimming membership. Any swimmer that appears on the Colorado Swimming (CSI) exceptions report without registration must come to the meet prepared to show proof of current membership. No deck registration will be accepted. All deck entries must present proof of current registration. Per USA Swimming rule 302.4, Colorado Swimming Inc. will impose a fine of $100 per swimmer who shows up on the post meet registration check charged to the team account. Teams will receive one Meet Recon email as a reminder to register the swimmers. As soon as the post meet registration check is run the team will be charged. All swimmers may swim 4 individual events and one relay per day. ENTRY FEES: Individual events: $4.00 per event Relay events: $7.00 per relay Deck Entries: $8.00 per event, $10.00 per relay Pool Fee: $5.00 per swimmer CSI: $0.75 per event entry to CSI Entry fees will be accepted on the day of the meet by the Clerk of Course. Check amount must reconcile with Entry Fee Report and should be made out to Cortez Water Dragons. ENTRY PROCEDURE: For all teams who use Team Unify for swim team management, you can accept our invitation and then process invitations through your website and sync the entries by the deadline. Please also email a copy of the Meet Entry Report by swimmer to ctzwaterdragons@gmail.com so that we can verify the entries. For all teams who do not use Team Unify, please email meet entry files in an SD3 format and a meet entry report by swimmer to ctzwaterdragons@gmail.com. NO TIME or incorrect times will be placed in the slowest heat. Events will be seeded according to converted times. Please DO NOT send entries to the pool. ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries must be received by Monday, May 27, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Entries will be confirmed via email. Late entries will be treated as Deck Entries. No new heats will be created. Deck entries will open at the start of warm-ups on Friday afternoon. The deck entry fee is $8.00 per event. Relay deck entry fees are $10.00 per relay. Swimmers not previously entered in the meet must present their USA swimming registration to the Clerk of Course to be able to deck enter. DISTANCE EVENTS: Positive Check-In will be required for the 500 Free, 1650 Free and 400 IM 30 minutes prior to the start of each session in which the event is to be swum and will be seeded after positive check in. Distance events will be seeded fastest to slowest. SCORING: Scoring will be used for teams total only and will be to 16 places, as follows: Individual: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Relays: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2 10 & under events will be scored as 8 & under and 9-10 with the exception of the 25 s which will be scored for 6 & under, 7-8 and 9-10. Relays will be scored for 10 & under and Open. AWARDS: RULES: Individual: Medals will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd places. Ribbons will be awarded for 4 th through 12 th places. Relays: Ribbons will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd places. Current 2019 USA swimming rules will govern the meet. All events are timed finals. CSI warm-up procedures will be observed. Age as of May 31, 2019 will govern entries and determine swimmer s age group. Scratches for Saturday and Sunday morning sessions (10 & Under) should be submitted as soon as possible. These sessions will be seeded on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Scratches for Friday, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon sessions should be submitted no later than one hour before the start of each session. These sessions will be seeded one hour before the start of the meet to eliminate any empty lanes and to try to provide the best racing environment for our competitors. As a sanctioned competitive event, USA Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. The Meet Director or Meet Referee may help with arrangements for coach supervision, but it is the swimmer s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms. No on deck photography from behind the starting platforms during starts and relays. Exhibition swimming will not be allowed. Deck changing is prohibited. Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials, and/or spectators are present. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. USA Swimming, Colorado Swimming, Inc., the City of Cortez and the Cortez Water Dragons accept no responsibility for liability or injuries sustained by any individual, athlete, coach, official, meet volunteer, or spectator while traveling to and from or while participating in the meet. Damage to the facility, when proven, will result in the offending swimmer and his or her parents or legal guardians to be responsible for the cost of all repairs. The meet referee will have the final authority on all procedures regarding the conduct of the meet. The referee may combine individual events by age, sex and or distance. All coaches and uniformed officials must display their USA/CSI cards while on deck. Current certification is mandatory. Coaches that are in noncompliance cannot be allowed on deck. Coaches will be required to sign in with the clerk of course. Colorado Swimming, Inc. does not support, recommend, endorse or take responsibility for the sale or marketing of any dietary supplements. It is the swimmer s responsibility to know the contents of any food or drink he/she ingests. As guests of the Cortez Municipal Pool, all must adhere to the pool s rules. MEET OFFICIALS: The Cortez Water Dragons would like to offer reimbursement for Officials whose swimmer(s) will be participating in our meet. We ask each official to work a minimum of one session per day, or three sessions throughout the meet. Reimbursement for up to 2 swimmers entry fees will be paid at the end of the meet on Sunday if requested.
