Westlake Yachting Club On the Black River Lorain, Ohio Newsletter March 2010 Commodore Burt Buehler ANNOUNCEMENTS MEETING REMINDER WYC General Membership Meeting March 10th at 7:30 PM Location: Jackalopes The Trustees meetings are open to every member of Westlake Yachting Club. All members are encouraged to attend. 2010 Officers & Trustee s Commodore: V/Commodore: R/Commodore: Treasurer: Secretary: Trustee s: Burt Bruehler Kenneth Klein Robert Hilko Bobby Rhodes Joyce Rhodes Norman Heppner Pat Swagger Ray Cull John Lively Robert Coffman Jim Sigman Well Febuary is flying by and the commodore s ball is fast approaching, I hope to see a lot of new and old faces. A meeting was held with Spitzer on our lease both sides were very cooperative and a new lease is at hand to be voted on by the board. A Brainstorming meeting was also held with Zaremba, and Spitzer groups about getting New Members from dockers and condo residents. Some good ideas came from both sides and will go to the Membership committee. We again need members who are not on the board to join in on the running of the club by becoming committee members. If anyone would like volunteer to be on one of the committees please let a Bridge member know. Vice Commodore Kenneth Klein By the time you read this, it will be March and finally the end of the cold dreary days of winter is in sight. The grey skies and seemingly endless snow has been here annoying us and making our dreams and hopes to return to boating even more special. With that said, it s almost time to get your boat and summer gear ready for use. It s also time to Be Involved with your club. We are planning this year s activities and we need you to Be Involved. Is there something that would make the WYC more enjoyable for you and your family? If so, please let us know. In our last newsletter, I asked all of you to volunteer your time and many skills by serving on one or more of our club committees. So far, I have heard from very few people. Your help is desperately needed. If you wish to help and don t know what committee(s) to join, please contact me or any member of the WYC Bridge. Contact information is included in this and all newsletters. We hope to hear from you soon. Remember, the Wheelhouse pre-opening cleanup followed by the annual grand opening funfest will be coming up soon. Bring your mops, gloves and elbow grease and join in the fun. I am hoping to be able to add to our Specials at the Wheelhouse and would appreciate any suggestions and recipe s that you d care to share. Remember: Be Involved and May your Sails be Full of it. Respectfully submitted, Ken Klein / VC

COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR 2010 Finance Committee Rear Commodore Robert Hilko Boating season is approaching fast. In a few short months we will be meeting to perform our annual spring cleaning of the Wheelhouse. I am looking forward to seeing all my friends and I hope to make many more this year. Our membership committee is hard at work trying to recruit new members for our club. Our focus is on trying to get more involvement and memberships from the Harbor Walk community and our fellow dockers from Spitzer Marina. I hope to see you all at our next meeting, We have many vacant spots left on our committees, please feel free to step aboard!
