Editor: Carol Ganzi cigipaints@gmail.com President s Message Well, here we are in HOT August! July s Paint In was relaxing with Fran teaching the Blue Bird and Star Flowers. Thanks so much to Fran and all who attended for this great class! We had a minimembers meeting to discuss the vote to increase the fee for our monthly meetings and after a discussion it passed to increase our members fees to $25 which will start with the January 2019 class. We are still looking at decreasing costs for storage as that is our consistently high expense each month, so any ideas are appreciated. We will continue to have raffles so long as we have things to put in the baskets. If anyone wants to bring a basket to the August meeting, please let me know or if you are cleaning out and have things to donate that would be great too. We are pretty much wiped out all previous donations. We are moving along on the Mystery Paint In and hope everyone will look forward to participating! We are also moving forward with the Christmas Party and appreciate those who volunteered to decorate the tables! It takes everyone to keep the Chapter moving forward so if there are positions you would like to help with please let us know. If you have any friends who might be interested in painting, the Mystery Paint-In is a great place to expose new people. The Orange County Fair will be completed by this newsletter; thank you to those who entered the Fair and who participated with our booth at the Fair. All is greatly appreciated and thanks again to Linda for being our organizer with the OCTDP Chapter lead, Carol Lemke. We will have wreaths for the end-of-year raffle and I will take ornaments from members any time you want to bring them. Any painted items you want to donate for the end-of-year raffle are appreciated too. I will need those by the September meeting to get ready with pictures and tickets. I look forward to painting the Sprite with Romona Jacobs so hope everyone has signed up or reach out to R A t j i Th k Sherry www.pacificcoastartists.com Page 1 of 7

Sunshine and Shadows When not painting, our members have many other interesting and worthwhile activities. Suzy Hutton is training a service dog. Vergil is a black lab puppy who will be with her until July 2019. She has had him about 6 months. Litters are given the letters of the alphabet; and he was from a V litter. Suzy got to name the puppy and V names are limited. If there is a working guide dog with a candidate name, then it can t be used. Suzy took three years of Latin in high school and managed to work that into a minor in college. Vergil was the ancient Roman poet who wrote The Aeneid (a story that recounts the Trojan horse). He sleeps in his crate by her bed and can t ever get up on the furniture. Hard not to snuggle Treasurers report for July Banking Deposits: Expenses: Class fees: $ 260.
