The Cross Keys Flyer December 2015 THE EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ASSOCIATION SOUTH JERSEY CHAPTER 216 A Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization CHARTERED NOVEMBER 3, 1964 Presidents Message INCORPORATED MAY 26, 1966 couple more years. The issue we are now faced with is expansion. I m going to need ideas for this one. -Dan Marchetti Fly in report. Massey Aerodrome was a very big I want to congratulate the new officers of our chapter EAA216. My support for the chapter will continue. Our Christmas and holiday dinner is coming up on the 16th of December. We ll be sitting at round tables enjoying our feast and talking aviation and our chapter s future. Don t forget to bring separate checks for the dinner, member renewal, and calendars. My wife, Reesa, and I went to the Massey Aerodrome Open Hangar Party on December 6. It was a fine day and many, many airplanes showed up. Tale Wheel View -Tom McDowell hit Sunday the 6th of December. The rough count was over 175 fly in aircraft. The sky was constantly filled with aircraft coming and going. I had a family function to attend in the afternoon so I could not stay late. Bill Breuer was again gracious in offering me a ride down. This photo doesn t do the event justice. There were aircraft all down the main runway and the cross wind runway. Food was over the top again. It just keeps getting better. Some of our members drove down and some flew down. Due to my having to leave early, I only saw Bill Christensen with his Kitfox and of course, Bill Breuer with his Cherokee. Bill Conway flew in later after I left. We need to make this a big showing in the future. Here we are, again, another year has passed. Thanks Giving is behind us, We are in the celebration of Hanukkah and as of this writing, the Christmas and New Year Holidays are still in our focus. With all this, we have another change in our organization as far as officers go. Before I go any further with this, I want to thank Dan Marchetti, (pronounced Mar-Ket-ee ) for taking the reins for the past two years. Dan, Thank you. We are a strong group and getting stronger because of the commitment of our members. During our last General meeting, we reached a personal goal for me. We filled the room. This I didn t expect for a!1

who care to partake. This meeting we will discuss the things that run our chapter, i.e. Treasures issues, events, etc. As per our bylaws, the board members will only be comprised of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, the immediate past president and three appointed Ex. Board members. Anyone else who would like to attend are certainly welcome, but is might be standing room only. January 6th is our first Ex. Board meeting. See you there-tom EAA Chapter happenings. Our December meeting was waived due to the dinner at the Seven Star Restaurant in Dept. Twp. As I write this, the dead line has come and gone for sign ups. We have 38 members and guest which will pretty much fill the room. This is a very nice affair due to the food, atmosphere, price and location. I believe this is our forth year there and yet, no price increase. Chapter Home report. Well, as we near the winter season, I don t see to much happening with the outside of the building. Will try to do more as weather permits, but..! For the inside, we will have coffee, Tea, Hot Coco and some cake and/or pastries for each general meeting. This was a nice touch at our last General meeting. Donations will be a big help as I can t afford to feed ya ll. I found a nice video cart that will help with program set up and tear down. It was pretty cheap, only $60. And a large Dry Erase board mounted on the wall behind the movie screen for only $40. Only drawback was the cart was located in Smyrna Delaware and the White Board in Center City Phil. Long day of driving to get those. Few more things I would like to get are some more folding chairs like the original ones. Meetings note. Our General Membership meetings will be short. We won t be dwelling over items. We ll hit of the major things, adjourn after regular items are covered, then have some coffee etc. and return for the program. Our Board meetings will be in the library around the round table. Well break out the coffee and hot water pot again for those From The Flight Deck -Mark Schmid I am again blessed this year with a December airline schedule with Christmas off. For most of us, it is the holy grail of schedules, dictated by seniority. My bidding strategy payed off and thankfully I will be home with family and friends this year and not on the road. As someone who never has a guarantee from year to year that I will be home, it is especially appreciated. Please keep those who are away from their families serving their country, community, or work in mind while you enjoy this holiday season. I have taken advantage of this exceptionally warm late fall to catch up on a few things with my Cessna 140. I had good intentions to fly into Massey, however my airplane had other ideas, and I was unfortunately grounded on that beautiful morning. I want to take a moment to wish you all tailwinds and blue skies in 2016, and I am looking forward to working with the Young Eagles in the future. In the upcoming 2016 Newsletters member Majd Bostani Will be contributing to the newsletter editing while I take over the Young Eagles events. There will be more on this in a later issue! I wish I could be with all of you for the Holiday party, but alas duty calls. (I will be in sunny Las Vegas for a layover though, so thats not too bad!) Congratulations to the new chapter officers. I look forward to working with you. See you in the skies in 2016!! 2
