President s Report Golf at Club Banora continued to be strong during 2017. Membership passed 360 as new members are a little greater than those retiring. Our finances are buoyed by the December 2017 one-off grant by the Twin Towns Board which is much appreciated. Treasurer Ray Tume provides experienced and responsible financial direction that ensures our cash-at-bank position does not drop below our annual liabilities. Thanks Ray. Thank you also to members for their consistent support of our raffles. Raffle revenue combined with the Twin Towns grant allowed the Committee to provide 12 green fee free days for a total of 877 member-rounds and subsidise five functions in the past year. The Captains and their Sub Committees are thanked for their dedicated effort of managing the daily competitions. A major initiative for the Committee was working with Twin Towns to strengthen privacy and protection of member details as it applies to internal clubs and for us, Golf Membership. The Golf Club now receives only basic member details, those needed to manage golf entitlement. Updating of golf financial-to detail is automatically applied to the Golf System and the Pro Shop updates any additional detail needed by Golf Australia to issue a handicap. Membership maintenance in the golf system is substantially reduced and the many hours that our Membership Office performed each month eliminated. Thank you to Diane Hughes for her dedication to this task over the past seven years. Special thank you to our three Captains; Wayne Muir, Denise Culpitt and Wayne Martlew, who are standing down at the AGM. Each Captain has made a substantial contribution to our Golf over the past two years including strengthening communication, procedures and IT use. Thank you also to Vice President, Rosie Connolly who provides a value-added contribution managing Sunday Golf and it is important to recognise the driving force that Secretary, Marlene Wyatt was with preparation of next year s Fixture Book. Thank you, Marlene for your work as Club Secretary. Retiring Representatives Dave Harrod and Myra Biggar have played strong supporting roles for Club Captains and their effort is appreciated by all members, thank you. Thanks are extended to Mike Fraser, Brian Brown, Rob Smith and Rod Pain for their ongoing support on all matters. The Golf Club is also strongly supported by the Greens team which always has the course in excellent condition, the Pro Shop, Island House staff, Twin Towns Conference and Convention Manager and Twin Towns IT thank you. The Golf Club members thank Twin Towns for the major initiative of replacing the end-of-life bridge that allows easy access to the golf course from the Pro Shop. The importance of the bridge was re-enforced during its absence. Congratulations to all the winners and runners up of major Club events in 2017 and to our division winning Men s Pennant team. Sponsors boost competition prizes and our Golf Club is fortunate to have North Estate Agents as a major sponsor. Thank you to North and to your representatives who joined us at functions throughout the year. Also, thank you to Go Golfing, Hillview Rose Farm and to our many members who sponsored competitions throughout 2017. On behalf of the Golf Management Committee I again extend our condolences to all members who have lost family and friends in the last year, and wish a speedy recovery to those suffering ill health. I hope that all members enjoy their membership in the year ahead and particularly the camaraderie which marks our club. Ken Culpitt President 5

Wayne Muir Captain 6 Men s Captain Report I am pleased to present the Men s Golf Report for 2017. The course is in great condition considering the weather that we endured during 2017 with torrential rain cancelling several events and closing the course on many occasions, and now with hot dry windy conditions at end 2017. We introduced the swapping of holes 3rd and 12th to speed up play and changed back the 11 th tee back to the back plate. We had another great year with our Pennant teams and managed to win our DIV 1 pennant final for the second year in a row beating Coolangatta/Tweed in the final. The team was Wayne Muir (Capt), Alan Hubbard, Michael Kemp, Kevin Haddrick, Terry Foster, Robert Evans, Darren Mc Swaine and also a fill in with Dean Love and Mick Wood. All major events were contested Men s Foursomes, Mixed Foursomes, Men s Championship, Medal of Medals and The Scratch Match play 2018. The winners were Div1 Div2 Men's Foursomes Alan Hubbard and Dean Love Paul Quinlin and Kev Bartlett Mixed Foursomes Alan and Lyn Simpson Barry and June Mc Fadden (PLAY OFF) A B C Men's Championships Dean Love Phil Coles Kev Bartlett Medal of Medals Dean Love There were also 5 holes in one for 2017 Richard Hardie, Michael Noakes, Rob Evans, Phil Coles and Col Norton. Thanks to the green staff for the presentation of the golf course and making it playable over the year under all-weather circumstances and conditions. I m sure all cart drivers are happy they got to play in some bad conditions with due care. Thanks to our sponsors GO GOLFING and NORTH REAL ESTATE who look after us every week with their lucky draw. Big thanks to the members behind the scene who helped me during the year especially Clint Dunne Ron White and Mike Mills. Thanks for all the assistance from Barry Horton and staff in Pro Shop both professionally and personally. Barry helped me immensely through 2016/2017 in my role as Captain. Finally, I would like to thank all the members and golfers that have supported me for the last 2 years, I took on board all their suggestions and complaints and tried the best I could to perform my role as Club Captain. Club Banora Golf Club is a friendly and close-knit club with a bright future; it has been my pleasure to work on the committee as Captain for this Golf Club and its Members Many thanks to all, HAPPY GOLFING

Treasurer s Report The Statement of Income and Expenditure for the period 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017 shows that Club Banora Golf Club had an account balance of $30,479.07 as at 31 December 2017 this being a trading deficit (loss) of $1,606.51 for the 2017 year. Year 2017 Ladies Balance $ 4,469.07 Loss $ 301.71 Men $12,913.91 Loss $ 151.50 Veterans $13,096.09 Loss $1,153.30 Total $30,479.07 Loss $1,606.51 The 2017 budget forecast was for a loss of $9,959. The reason for the difference is the $9,580 grant received from Twin Towns in December 2017 which is not a budgeted item. The Committee have already approved a further deficit budget for 2018. As mentioned above a big thank you to Twin Towns for their continued support in once again giving the club a $9,580 grant. Thank you to every member who assisted me with my duties as Treasurer during 2017, particularly Penny Martlew and Fran Janes from the Ladies. I would also like to thank, Barry Horton and his staff, Twin Towns and all the staff here at Club Banora and in particular the accounts staff for all their assistance during 2017. 6. Notice of motion Notice of Motion to amend the Constitution to Reduce the Golf Committee to Seven Members Background When the single Golf Section was established in 2011 the Constitution included traditional executive positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer as well as Captains for Men, Ladies and Veterans golf. The Golf Committee was rounded out with two general Committee members called Member Representative, one male and one female. While the first seven positions were assigned formal roles, the Representatives were not. The members who have been elected to the Representative positions since 2011 have tried in good faith to effectively serve the Golf Club but their effectiveness has been determined by the scope provided by the Captains. At the 2016 Golf Club AGM, the meeting asked that the Representative positions be changed to Vice Captains. The request was considered by the Golf Committee at the May and July Committee meetings and it was decided that for greater logistic flexibility the Captains preferred to identify their Vice Captain from within their Sub-Committees. The Captains are also of the view that they did not wish to identify specific roles for their Vice Captain beyond substituting for them at a Golf Committee meeting in their absence. Twin Towns has provided advice on how the fill in substitution can easily be achieved for each of the three Captains. In the context outlined, it is proposed to delete from Internal Club Management Section of the Golf Club Constitution, the positions of Men s Representative and Ladies Representative and to delete the same positions from the Election of Internal Club Committee Section. It is moved that Men s Representative and Ladies Representative are removed from Internal Club Management Section and Election of Internal Club Committee Section. Moved: Member No: 10307 Mike Flanagan (Men s Captain) Signed:. Seconded: Member No: 16177 Wayne Martlew (Veterans Captain) Signed:. The Notice of Motion was voted by a show of Hands, which was defeated. A few members advised that they could not hear what they were voting for so Ken Mount (19084) asked that another vote be conducted. This was done and the Notice of Motion was defeated once more. 7.
