4. NOTICE OF MOTION Nil. 5. ELECTIONS Nil. 6. CORRESPONDENCE AND BUSINESS ARISING There was no business arising from correspondence. 7. REPORTS 7.1. Executive Committee President Elizabeth O Brien I have been liaising with other presidents from other associations in regards to grants to see what is available, how they are scheduling executive teams, duties that are involved, coaching perspectives and I m getting some good feedback. I have targeted Baulkham Hills, Liverpool and Randwick and it will help us as a group to identify the good and the bad and what might work for our association. I m also looking at sponsorship and community recognition within the St George area. Senior Vice President Justin Bevan No report this month. Junior Vice President Natalie Morris On 25 th June we had our Confident Girls fundraiser, this foundation allows girls from all backgrounds to have the opportunity to play sport that otherwise wouldn t. It gives them confidence on and off the court. Their aim is to raise $250,000 and 100% of the profits go to the girls. I m very proud to report that St George is one of the first associations to get onboard and support our girls. We raised $500 from our jumping castle, face painting and raffle and I m sure that this money will go towards getting at least some of the girls on the court and have them doing what we all take for granted. A big thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser. Senior Competition Co-ordinator Tawhi Tua Thank you to the S3 teams for their co-operation in regards to the grade being played over two time slots in order to assist with the umpire availability for the 3pm round. Page 2 of 9

Just a reminder to the grades that have the Rep Teams in them, these games still count and the score sheet still needs to be filled in correctly. At the end of the round, the ladder will be adjusted once the teams have been removed and all placings will be final. All Senior Teams, you need to fill in the score sheet and check the names on the list off as having played. This information goes towards eligibility for the finals series and could be the difference between you playing or not. I have had some score sheets in the last few weeks that have incomplete score sheets. Finals Series: All players need to be in correct club uniform. Shorts underneath dresses will not be showing below the skirt line when player is standing. I will be making sure the umpires are enforcing these rules when they are doing their pregame checks so please make sure all players are in correct uniform. Players are only allowed to play one game per day in the Final Series and you need to seek permission from The Executive before that player takes the court. If there is anything you are unsure of, please do not hesitate to contact me. 7.2. Junior Competition Co-Ordinator Robyn Ellis Regrading of 7 and 8 teams occurred at the end of the first round. The following decisions were made: Titans Skyblue move up to Division 8 and Ramsgate Tigerlillies move down to Division 9 Titans Teal to Move up to Division 9 and Kyle Bay Seahorses to move down to Division 10. Titans Purple to move up to Division 10 and St Ursula Keas to move down to Division 11. Timeslots for semi-finals will remain the same as the rest of the season. The grades and timeslots for finals and grand finals will be announced at Council meeting. Finals will be 9am, 11am and 1pm while Grand finals will be 9am, 11am and 1.30pm. Presentations will occur after each Grand Final with the major presentation occurring after 11am. Requests for players playing up in the final series need to be submitted by Day 15 (if already known). Requests after this will be for only emergency reasons and need to be in by Thursday prior to game day at the latest. We have to obtain the ok from the majority of executive for a player to be able to play up and I will add the names to the scoresheet. They can only play 1 game per day and representative players will not be considered. Players must ensure that they are in correct uniform for the final series and all players have their photo ID. Page 3 of 9

7.3. Umpires Co-Ordinator Sarah Hay Umpire payments will go out on Friday 22 July 2016, with weekly updates on Sunday s. Please email any concerns regarding payments to me. If there are any more umpires you wish to have upgraded please email this week so we can ensure they are viewed in the next 2 weeks no regrading/coaching will be done during finals. Email has gone out to convenors regarding submitting Nominations for finals umpiring. Please ensure that this is submitted by the due date and time. If it is not received on time your umpires will not be allocated finals. Please ensure your umpires are aware that finals allocations will be performance based. The best umpires will be allocated games. State Age Umpires We had some great feedback following State Age of all our umpires and that we were sending out new faces as well. Congratulations to Torren Eyles-Balukea who was recently awarded her National B badge at Metro League. We are currently taking Expressions of Interest for National Badges to umpire Night Interdistrict, if you are interested please email your details to me and you will be included in communication prior to the commencement of NID. 7.4. Treasurer s Report Craig Noble Balances of accounts Statement of Accounts as of 30 June 2016: Working Account $34,267.81 Savings Account $63,037.60 Canteen Account $4,745.71 Report Highlights Canteen Currently the Canteen account has become self-sufficient in that the canteen now pays for all invoices related to the purchase of food stuffs for the canteen and catering items to run the BBQ fundraiser for clubs and teams during Saturday round play. Profits from the Canteen have funded to date catering equipment for use in the canteen, minor repairs to the canteen block and cleaning products and utensils for the cleaning of the toilets. Refreshments which include water and Powerade that are usually sold in the canteen were donated to the State Age Rep Teams to keep players hydrated. Page 4 of 9

The account was also used to cover minor expenses at the State Age venue for players and staff involved. Funds were also used to help fund the State Age Social for players and their families, coaches, managers and council members who were all involved with the event. All made possible through the efforts of parents, players and St George Association members who help with the running of the Canteen. Where possible, we are utilising profits generated by canteen sales to benefit the members of the Association. Late Registrations Payments of Late registrations have been deposited to the Association, we thank clubs for prompt payments made. Public Liability Insurance & extra cover The Association has renewed the Public Liability Insurance policy for the 2016-2017 periods. Policy cost: $5,700. The Policy will be made available for viewing. The Insurance is a two-part policy which covers all members of the Association. New Lights Update on lighting expenses: The Association has been working tirelessly on the process of installing extra lighting which is to be funded by both the Association and the NSW Community Grants. To date the Association has had to spend over $10,000 in funds for supporting reports, consultation fees and administrative fees to seek approval by the Rockdale City Council Development approval process. Concerning is the fact that extra costs involved should have been taken into account when the application for funding was applied for during the decisions made for more lighting. The Association is constantly looking at reducing related costs to the running of the association, through grant funding, relationships with businesses and sponsors, being self-sufficient, not having to rely on annual or monthly services where costs can be cut right out, or looking for more cost effective options. Currently quotes are being requested to formulate budget costs for much needed upgrades of the facilities, buildings and courts. There is a lot of work involved with this process, but the council sees this as a priority to have projected project costs for future development that our clubs and members will benefit from. Available for viewing is a copy of the June working account which details the operating costs for the month. As always I am available to be contacted if any question arise, I will do my best to answer or find the answers to questions asked. Page 5 of 9

7.5. Secretary s Report Tamlyn Holtz Update on Lights Unfortunately our delays with Rockdale Council have continued. Our initial extension from the Community Building Partnerships was until 31 July however, this has now been extended until 30 September. At this stage our DA will be voted on at the Council meeting to be held on 3 August. I will advise further details as soon as they are available. Due to the delay with the lights we are looking at commencing the summer night comp in October and playing through until December, a ten week competition. Appointments Panel The 2017 Appointments panel will consist of Liz O Brien as chair, Stuart Maurice as a life member and myself as an Executive member. Applications are now open for representative and development positions and these close on Friday, 12 August. 7.6. Night Competition Co-Ordinator Raylene Bevan Night competition is drawing to a close. This week was the last round of normal competition. Finals will run for 2 weeks. Grand Final is Tuesday 2nd August. Winning teams will receive a dinner voucher for St George Motor Boat Club. (amount yet to be decided). Summer Night Comp to start after the October Holidays (Tues 11th October). It will run for 10 weeks with no final series (last week 13th December). We need to look at playing times as I can't be at the courts until 6.15pm. In previous years time slots were 6.15pm, 7pm & 8pm but as we will need to use the buzzer we need to be mindful of our neighbours and timeslots will be at 5.30pm, 6.30 & 7.30pm. 4x10mins quarters 1min breaks & 2 min between games..also need to discuss when registrations need to be in, so Robyn has time to enter into the system. 7.7. Coaching Co-Ordinator Ana Lewis Coaching Development Course It was confirmed yesterday that we will be able to run a Development Coaching Course at our Association. We haven t had the numbers in the past to run this course but we have a lot of interest from Clubs and I can confirm that the Development Coaching Course will be held on 31 July. There are a couple of Page 6 of 9

course pre-requisites you need to have completed your Foundation Course and you need to have completed your Section 1 Umpire Theory Exam. A link will go up on the Netball NSW website and you will need to register through this link. You will need your My Netball Number and log in as normal and pay for the course. I will need to see copies of your Foundation Accreditation and Section 1 Umpires Exam so please let me know your My Netball Number and I can look this information up and check your accreditation to ensure that you can participate. It will go from 9am to 4pm. We have at least 10 participants at this stage. Please remember that if you are a parent attending the course please remember that you need to use your own Netball NSW ID number not your daughter s Netball Number. If you are unsure of your Netball NSW Number please ask us and we can help you with that. 7.8. Senior Representative Co-Ordinator Barbara Hay Not a lot to report at this stage the 3 Metro teams seasons are well under way with Team 1 sitting in equal 1 st with Northern Suburbs and Teams 2 and 3 are sitting in 6 th place at the moment. UTS Sparks have the opens sitting in 3 rd place and Under 20 s in 1 st place. We currently have applications open for NID where we will be able to submit 4 teams at this stage. Applications close on 29 th of July. Trial dates for 2017 Metro League have been set down for the following dates 25/9, 20/11 and if required 11/12. All trials will be held at Netball Central from 9am. We couldn t get Netball Central for the 25 th of September so we are looking for a venue at the moment and will let you know. 7.9. Junior Representative Co-Ordinator Robyn Coppleman State Age I just wanted to give you an update on how our teams did at State Age 12s finished 14 th 13s finished 12 th 14s finished 16 th 15s finished 11 th All of our teams finished in the top 20 for the State which is a great result for the Association. I d like to congratulate all of the Managers, Coaches and Players who did a lot of hard work which paid off. Page 7 of 9

2017 Rep Trials Dates for 2017 Rep trials Phase 1 will be Sunday 16 October Phase 2 (if required) will be Sunday 13 November but this day will the day for 11s Development Teams Trials Phase 3 (if required) will be Sunday 4 December. Rep dinner is coming up and invitations and more information will be sent out very shortly. The last carnival that we attended for the season held out at Campbelltown in the rain, congratulations to our two 11 year old development teams which took out both of their divisions in the carnival. 8. GENERAL BUSINESS Players Not Able to Attend Phase 1 Trials It was mentioned that there are some players that will be unable to attend Phase 1 of the junior rep trials as they will be attending a National OZ Tag competition in Coffs Harbour. The question was asked about what happens for those players. Robyn Coppleman responded that for the girls that will be away, their parents need to send an email to Robyn stating the dates that they will be away and Robyn will attach that to their application and they will then be able to attend Phase 2 and trial then. Rep Dinner A question was asked about whether the Development Teams would be invited to the Rep Dinner? Robyn responded that they haven t been in the past but we will consider this. Some of the delegates would like to see more recognition given to the Development Teams to acknowledge their achievements. This can be discussed further at the Domestic Forum. A further question was asked about whether the umpires that represent our Association at rep level and are invited to attend the Rep Dinner would need to pay for their attendance as up to last year umpires did attend for free but that changed last year. The Executive were unaware of this change and acknowledge that the umpires are an important part of our Association and we need to ensure that we recognise them and keep working towards a united Association. Page 8 of 9

Pathways for 14s and 15s reps Barbara Hay added that on Saturday we are having an information session for our 14s and 15s reps regarding the pathways for the future for those players. The girls will learn where they can go from here, going into Metro League, NSW pathways, Academy teams, State trials etc. This is a step forward for our girls and will give them a plan of action for the girls that want to go further. The meeting will be held at 10.30am in the Control Room. Once State trial dates are released by NSW Netball Barbara will add this information to our Facebook page. Trophies Natalie Morris has emailed Club Secretaries about trophies coming back, could you please ensure that any trophies are returned so that we can give them to the next recipient. Craig Noble, Treasurer, wanted to apologise to Ramsgate RSL as he did the marking on the grass court in the dark and had missed a goal circle. The President declared the meeting closed at 8.58pm. Tamlyn Holtz SECRETARY Page 9 of 9
