Apple Valley Traveling Baseball Clinic and Lesson Instruction Options In Preparation for 2015 Season This document provides 8 options for Apple Valley baseball players to improve their baseball skills in preparation for the 2015 baseball season. It is not meant to be an allinclusive list, but rather intended to be a resource of some available options in the Apple Valley area. The first two options are ones that Apple Valley Traveling Baseball helped set up. The other 6 options are ones that families can pursue and evaluate on their own. 1) Apple Valley Traveling Baseball at Apple Valley High School Apple Valley High School Instructors: Apple Valley High School Baseball Staff Sundays - 11-9, 11-23, 12-14, 12-21, 1-25, 2-8, 2-22 Time: 4:00 5:00 for 5-9 year olds 5:00 6:00 for 10-14 year olds Cost: Free Clinic Information: We will work on hitting, throwing, catching, running, fielding, pitching and many other aspects to the game of baseball. The AV Pitching Clinic will be run by current University of Minnesota pitcher Ty McDevitt and former University of St. Thomas and Northwoods League starting pitcher Tommy Danczyk. Players can also sign up for the pitching clinic that will take place the hour before their scheduled hitting/fielding clinic time.

Specific focus will be on: Increased Bat Speed Hitting Mechanics Power Development Balance/Posture Contact Point and Foot Placement Bunting Throwing fundamentals & agility training included
4) Personal Lessons Provided By Dan Beech Instructor: Dan Beech Dan attended and played baseball for Apple Valley High School graduating in 1989. Since then he has been a coach/player for the AV Millers town team, youth traveling baseball coach and former AVTB board member. He has been giving private hitting lessons to boys and girls for the last 12 years. Besides participating as an instructor in many camps and clinics in the area, he currently is planning to work with the AVHS Baseball program in their off season hitting sessions. Dan s is also the player development coordinator/assistant varsity coach for the Prior Lake Fast Pitch Softball program. Other Helpful Information Apple Valley Traveling Baseball is part of the Minnesota Baseball Tournaments (MBT) https://www.mbl.bz/mbl/mbt/ and plays by the Metro Baseball League (MBL) https://www.mbl.bz/mbl/ rules. The 2015 MBL/MBT season bat rules remain the same as 2014 except for 10U (new rules in table below). Bat restrictions: 11U-14U big barrel bats must be stamped with USSSA 1.15 BPF, Babe Ruth Approved 1.15 BPF, BBCOR stamp or it can have any 1.15 BPF stamp. For small barrel bats (2 1/4") use all of the above stamps or you can also use bats that have the old approved USSSA mark. 15 s must use a BBCOR bat. 10-under Bats must be 2 1/4" with unlimited weight differential or bats must be between 2 1/2" and 2 3/4"and have a 10 differential or less (i.e. 30 20.0 oz.) 11-U, 12-U, 13-U Bats must be 2 1/4" with no restrictions or bats must be between 2 1/2" and 2 3/4"and have a 10 differential or less (i.e. 30 20.0 oz.) 14-U Bats must be 2 3/4" or smaller with a -5 Differential or less. 14/15A 14/15A can use either -3 or -5 bats 15-U Bats must be 2 5/8 or smaller with a 3 or less
