Herrmann Reason RACE 1 : PETER LEHMANN BAROSSA BLONDE / SABOIS DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE 2100 metres On arrival on course LITTLE LUCKY, which had injured itself in the float en route to the course, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare had suffered severe abrasions to both hips. LITTLE LUCKY was ruled unfit to race. First Aid was administered. Acting on that advice, the Stewards withdrew LITTLE LUCKY at 11.24 am. CADGEE FLYER (J. Frew) jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of MAKE A DOLLAR (J. Potter) and then shifted out and away from that horse, contacting with YEAHDAD (S. Price). MAKE A DOLLAR (J. Potter) pulled very hard in the early stages of the event and was difficult to restrain. MAKE A DOLLAR only settled in the vicinity of the 1200 metres. YEAHDAD (S. Price) became held up for clear running between the 700 metres and the 600 metres when racing behind RESENDA (C. Lions) and to the inside of SHIAWASE (D. Tourneur). TOSSTHERESTA (C. Lindop) was inclined to lay in, in the straight. TOSSTHERESTA was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 2 : COOPERS 62 PILSNER / SABOIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately four minutes owing to SON OF A GUN taking charge of its rider J. Potter after arriving at the barriers and galloping towards the 1700 metre chute where it was captured by the Clerk of the Course and returned to the barriers. SON OF A GUN was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who ruled the gelding unfit to race. Acting on that advice, Stewards withdrew SON OF A GUN at 1.16 pm. Ms. J. Gow- Whyte, the Trainer of SON OF A GUN, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding and should it perform in a similar manner in future, action may be taken against it. The start was also delayed owing to LUNAR RHYTHM breaking through the front of its barrier stall after being loaded and galloping a short distance before being returned to the barriers. RACE 2 : COOPERS 62 PILSNER / SABOIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres (Cont d) On jumping away LUNAR RHYTHM (T. Pannell) reared and jumped away awkwardly. DIAMONDINTHESKY (K. Dyson) raced wide without cover in the early stages of the event. Near the 500 metres BOLTIN HENRY (A. Herrmann) shifted out to improve and inconvenienced MY EX MATE (S. Westover). Rounding the home turn LUNAR RHYTHM (T. Pannell) shifted out when improving and contacted DIAMONDINTHESKY (K. Dyson), unbalancing that mare and taking it out, resulting in RAVEN READY (C. Lions), which was following, being hampered. T. Pannell was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in future. Racing to the 200 metres INDEE S HOPE (M. Tyndall) rolled out under pressure resulting in LUNAR RHYTHM (T. Pannell) shifting out and away from that mare onto RAVEN READY (C. Lions), resulting in LUNAR RHYTHM and RAVEN READY contacting. M. Tyndall was reminded of her obligations when her horses commence to shift. Racing to the 50 metres RAVEN READY (C. Lions), which commenced to lay in, shifted in and momentarily tightened LUNAR RHYTHM (T. Pannell) onto INDEE S HOPE (M. Tyndall). RACE 3 : PETER LEHMANN CABERNET MERLOT / SABOIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes owing to PRAY TO WIN becoming fractious after being loaded into its barrier stall, kicking the back of the stall and getting caught in the barrier structure. PRAY TO WIN was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported lacerations and abrasions to both hind legs and ruled the filly unfit to race. First Aid was administered. Acting on this advice, Stewards withdrew PRAY TO WIN at 1.48 pm. Mr. P. Beshara, the Trainer of PRAY TO WIN, was advised the filly would be required to prove tractable in the barriers in an Official Barrier Trial prior to accepting for a future race. AURUMCERT (J. Maund) and NEW SONG (W. Kerford) jumped away awkwardly and shifted ground shortly after the start, resulting in PIERREMONT EXPRESS (M. Tyndall) and CLEARLY PASSIONATE (S. Price) becoming tight for a number of strides and being inconvenienced. In the vicinity of the 800 metres LATIN LADY (S. Bailey), which had improved onto the heels of SUMMER WITH ROSIE (NZ) (K. Dyson), was obliged to steady for a number of strides. Inside the 800 metres LATIN LADY (S. Bailey), which raced in restricted room and improved into a tight run of its own accord to the inside of SUMMER WITH ROSIE (NZ) (K. Dyson), which rolled in slightly, was obliged to check and lose its position. Shortly after entering the straight PIERREMONT EXPRESS (M. Tyndall), which raced greenly, shifted out abruptly and away from NEW SONG (W. Kerford) as that gelding shifted out slightly. Thereafter PIERREMONT EXPRESS, which continued to race greenly, shifted in, inside the 200 metres, and had to be corrected. Over the concluding stages of the races AURUMCERT (J. Maund) raced in tight room to the inside of SILVER CITY BOY (P. Gatt) and shifted in, tightening TATT S GIRL (T. Pannell) for a number of strides. RACE 4 : COOPERS PREMIUM LAGER MAIDEN PLATE - 1500 metres On arrival at the barriers WILD HOG was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. QUICK N SLICK (G. Davis) was slow to begin losing two to three lengths. OUR HI DEGREE (W. Kerford) raced wide without cover in the early stages of the event. Racing to the 800 metres MR GLITTER (J. Potter), which over-raced, rolled out and inconvenienced FASHION DRESSER (M. Tyndall) for a number of strides taking that mare wider. MR GLITTER (J. Potter) raced wide without cover between the 800 metres and the 500 metres. SIR TRENTIN (M. Neve) became held up for clear ground inside the 600 metres when racing behind WEEKEND DISCIPLES (P. Gatt) and thereafter, in the vicinity of the 500 metres, was again held up when racing between the heels of WALCOURT (T. Pannell) and WEEKEND DISCIPLES and was only able to obtain clear running near the entrance to the straight where it was obliged to alter course to the outside of FUZZEAR (K. Dyson), which weakened, to obtain clear ground. Racing to the 400 metres WALCOURT (T. Pannell) became held up between the heels of VERONICA S DREAM (D. Tootell), which rolled out, and inside OUR HI DEGREE (W. Kerford), which maintained a tight line. Shortly thereafter OUR HI DEGREE rolled in and contacted WALCOURT. Thereafter WALCOURT was obliged to alter course to the inside of VERONICA S DREAM near the entrance to the straight to obtain clear running. Mr. G. Young, the Trainer of BIRCHMORE ROAD, was questioned regarding the gelding s apparent improved performance. Mr. Young explained that today, as opposed to its two previous starts, the gelding appeared settled in the tie-up stalls and did not sweat up. In addition, he added he had fitted blinkers for the first time. He was of the view the gelding had settled better in its work when fitted with blinkers. His explanation was noted. RACE 5 : JOHN PHILLIPS RACING GROUP RATING 0-62 HANDICAP 2100 metres BLANCHE PORT (C. Lindop) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted THE SHINBONER (NZ) (D. Tourneur). THE SHINBONER (NZ) (D. Tourneur) raced wide without cover in the early stages of the race. In the vicinity of the 1700 metres GUINNESSBURG (A. Herrmann) contacted the inside running rail and had to be checked when tightened due to STRATOCRUISER (NZ) (P. Gatt) shifting in and away from SHOGUN WARRIOR (A. Patterson) as that gelding shifted in slightly. Racing to the 200 metres ALAKATE (T. Baker) became held up and was tightened for galloping room between GUINNESSBURG (A. Herrmann), which had become held up on the heels of AS A RULE (J. Frew), which rolled out, and shifted out, at the same time as SHOGUN WARRIOR (A. Patterson) shifted in and away from STRATOCRUISER (NZ) (P. Gatt), which had commenced to lay in and shifted in abruptly. P. Gatt stopped riding and corrected his mount and GUINNESSBURG then became held up for a short distance before altering course to the inside of AS A RULE to obtain clear running. RACE 6 : COOPERS PALE ALE / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES RATING 0-75 HANDICAP 1500 metres ROCCIN JO (J. Frew), which was fractious in the barriers, reared on jumping away, began very awkwardly, unbalancing its rider, losing two to three lengths. Rounding the home turn ROSE OF BARABBA (A. Patterson), which shifted out to improve, inconvenienced LAYADELAGO (D. Robinson). ROCCIN JO (J. Frew) was unable to obtain clear running in the straight when racing behind PENDANCE (NZ) (T. Baker) and to the inside of the heels of THE PRINCESS (J. Potter) and was obliged to alter course to the inside of PENDANCE (NZ) inside the 50 metres to obtain clear running. J. Frew, the rider of ROCCIN JO, explained he had intended to race in a position forward of mid-field but due to the mare s awkward start he was unable to take up a forward position and was obliged to settle back in the field and ride for luck. ROCCIN JO was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported a lower than expected heart rate and that the mare s teeth needed attention. RACE 7 : PETER LEHMANN PINOT CHARDONNAY CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1100 metres Shortly after the start FAMESON (C. Lions) and MISS NEWENHAM (L. Hopwood) brushed. Inside the 500 metres ETERNAL REIGN (S. Price) became held up for clear ground for a short distance when racing behind WYARA MISS (A. Patterson). Rounding the home turn WYARA MISS (A. Patterson) became held up on the heels of VINARD (J. Potter) and CARBON FLYER (S. Bailey) for a short distance and thereafter, at the entrance to the straight, altered course to the inside of VINARD in an attempt to obtain a run to the inside of that gelding but was obliged to shift to the outside of VINARD to obtain clear running and improved into a run between VINARD and CARBON FLYER. Shortly thereafter WYARA MISS became held up on the heels of ETERNAL REIGN (S. Price), which had improved into the same run. WYARA MISS was then obliged to alter course to the outside of ETERNAL REIGN to obtain clear running. RACE 8 : COOPERS CLEAR RATING 0-62 HANDICAP - 1200 metres POLLY BEAT (B. Hoppo) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed with KOODA SURPRISE (T. Zanker). HOTDEAL (C. Lever) raced very wide without cover in the early stages of the race. In the vicinity of the 800 metres VOLTE FACE (P. Denton) shifted in and brushed with RACINES RUBY (L. Hopwood). Shortly after entering the straight SUNSETTER (C. Lions) became held up for a short distance when racing on the heels of RACINES RUBY (L. Hopwood). In the vicinity of the 100 metres ARTECHS (T. Pannell) shifted in and away from UMA WAVE (S. Price), which shifted in under riding, resulting in SPREADSHEET (S. Cahill) having to steady off the heels of ARTECHS. Shortly thereafter ARTECHS continued to shift in and away from UMA WAVE, resulting in IMPERIAL LINES (C. Lindop) shifting in and away from that gelding at the same time as VOLTE FACE (P. Denton) shifted out, resulting in FIVE TRAINS (D. Tourneur) becoming disappointed for a run between the heels of IMPERIAL LINES and VOLTE FACE. RACE 8 : COOPERS CLEAR RATING 0-62 HANDICAP - 1200 metres (Cont d) M. Neilson, the rider of JERRYKOOLER, reported on return to Scale that the gelding felt awkward in its action and may have jarred up. JERRYKOOLER was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.
