2016-17 Season Overview The MWA Elite Basketball Club is expanding, and will now offer a National-(graduation year) and Local- (Team Black) team for each age group. The National teams will have the opportunity to play in local Midwest Athletics sponsored events, out of town events (Lansing, Grand Rapids, etc.) and out of state events (IN, IL, OH, as well as East or Southern States). The Local (Team Black) teams will play in local Midwest events and local tournaments as well as out of town tournaments (Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, etc.). All teams will play between 60 and 110 games during the 2016-2017 season (November 2016 - August 2017) Season by Age: 1 st -6 th grades will play November to August and have tryouts in late October 7 th -8 th grades will play late January to August and have tryouts inlate October & early January 9 th -11 th grades will play late March to early June and then July-August. Tryouts will be held in Mid-March. The following provides detailed information regarding Club Leadership Team, Vision, Player Expectations, Practice and Skills Training as well as season and uniform fees and payment options. Vision Goal of the club is to grow the number of elite teams that compete nationally, and eventually seek a National Sponsorship for the club. This is a tall goal for sure, but one we think can be achieved over the next 12-24 months. If all goes as planned, there will be multiple MWA Elite teams playing on the road in 2016-2017. We believe in building dedicated teams of great players that know each other and play well together. Where other teams regularly look to add "high profile" players in order to win tournaments, we will succeed through hard work and continuing to improve the skill set and basketball IQ of the players on our rosters. This strategy makes our club unique---anyone can win by assembling the 7 best players from around the state or country---but it's a special experience to win as a result of hard work and dedication. This is the exact approach and model we will use to build out the vision for the MWA Elite Club.

Leadership Team The advisory board is made up of parents and coaches and will meet once a month. There are five board positions. Parents may submit or nominate names for available leadership positions. As the club grows we want to insure there is joint leadership and input regarding decisions. President-Stephen Benard Vice President-Terrance Nichols Practice / Training Representative Rob Crandall Jr. Parent Representative Lee Bruner III Coach Representative: - Karl Williams Coach Representative: - Brian Jamison Practice Practice times and locations will be published once team rosters have been set. It is expected that each team will practice at least two times per week. If possible we will have both the national and local teams in each age group practice together. Tryouts Tryouts will be held in late October/November for grades 1 st -6 th, January for 7 th -8 th grades and March for 9 th -11 th grades. Final rosters will not exceed 9-10 players: 4-dates will be held for tryouts Cost of tryouts will be $25 per player-(the $25 tryout fee will go toward season fees for players selected onto a team) (1 st -6 th )Monday, October 17, 2016 & Monday, October 24, 2016: 1 st -4 th 6:00pm-7:00pm, 5 th -6 th 7:00-8:00pm (1 st -6 th )Saturday, October 29, 2016 & Saturday, November 6, 2016: 1 st -4 th 10:00am-11:00am, 5 th -6 th 11:00am-Noon (7 th -8 th )Monday, January 23, 2017 & Monday, January 30, 2017: 7:00-8:00pm (7 th -8 th )Saturday, January 21, 2017 & Saturday, January 28, 2017: 11:00am-Noon (9 th -11 th )Monday, March 13, 2017 & Monday, March 20, 2017: 7:00-8:00pm (9 th -11 th )Saturday, March 11, 2017 & Saturday, March 18, 2017: 11:00am-Noon Tryout Location will be Basketball City-16400 Eastland Dr., Roseville, MI 48066.
